I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 541: Chapter 301: He’s Gone

The effect of the medium level Dragon Language is another level stronger than the elementary Dragon Language.

Now, if a Giant Dragon were in front of him, he would definitely have no language barrier in communicating.

Of course, this only refers to language barriers.

Whether a Giant Dragon wishes to communicate depends more on other factors.

However, the significance of the Dragon Language is not limited to communication with dragons; in fact, this can be considered negligible, as the Dragon Language itself is a boon.

As Gauss fully accepted the changes of this blue quality, the smile on his lips was hard to contain.

No Adventurer would complain about being too strong.

If you can kill the enemy with one punch, why bother throwing two?

Very good.

Gauss put away the folding house and activated the Flying Technique.

His body lifted off the ground, floating lightly in the air.

Flying now no longer feels as strenuous as at first.

Perhaps because a Giant Dragon is a master of the sky, even he, this ”humanoid pseudo-dragon,” carries some of the flair of the Lord of High Altitude.

”Hoo—”

The flying speed has also significantly increased.

Gauss flew towards the direction of Lakeside Town.

In the blink of an eye, he had been out for several hours; when he left, it was noon, and now dusk had arrived.

He gradually understood the meaning of ”there are no years in the mountains.”

Returning to Lakeside Town, Gauss descended outside the town and then strolled leisurely towards it.

Along the way, many glances, both overt and covert, were cast his way.

His reputation around Blue Lake’s five towns, especially near Lakeside Town, was changing day by day.

It’s not an exaggeration to say he’s the current rising ”supernova.”

Especially since Gauss has a handsome face that most people don’t dislike, which gives him quite a few extra points.

”That’s the guy everyone’s been raving about these past few days, Gauss, right?”

”That’s him.”

”It’s unbelievable, over thirteen hundred points in two days; that’s more than thirteen hundred goblins or kobolds.”

”So many monsters, even if they were all tied up for me to behead one by one, I couldn’t kill that many; my arms would be sore from chopping.”

”That’s why he’s a high-ranking Adventurer, and you’re just a peddler.”

”And just like others say, he looks handsome.”

”If I could be with him, I’d be willing even just to feast on leftovers!”

”....”

Gauss walked through the crowd, unaffected by their discussions, his face still and calm.

This isn’t out of arrogance or pride but something he’s genuinely used to.

People’s emotional thresholds for various things continuously get elevated through different experiences.

Only perhaps in the very beginning did he feel a slight sense of pleasure bubbling up, but as an Adventurer, he had heard such comments and praise countless times, naturally making it hard for any ripples to surface.

Or in other words, only someone slightly narcissistic would still find such joy under these circumstances.

”Back already?”

At the entrance of the inn, Gauss encountered Aaliyah.

If he remembered correctly, her plan for the afternoon was to go to the town’s commercial street for supplies.

”Yes.”

Gauss nodded.

Aaliyah took a good look at him again.

”Gauss, your voice has become nicer,” she directly praised, unlike earlier with the stranger Maggie around, when it was inconvenient. ”Is it related to your lineage?”

”Yes.” Gauss nodded. ”It’s nice, isn’t it?”

”Yes, yes.” Aaliyah quickly nodded, feeling a bit envious.

Having a nicer voice is something most people find hard to resist.

”By the way, Gauss, I need to tell you something.”

”Hm?”

”Herbert, the one in second place, is catching up to you.”

”What’s his score now?”

Gauss didn’t care much about winning or losing temporarily, thinking no Adventurer of similar level could be better than him at monster killing. But hearing Aaliyah mention this piqued his curiosity.

”When I checked after lunch, he was already at 1311 points.”

”Oh?”

Gauss raised an eyebrow at this.

As he was busy with Dragon Language matters in the afternoon, he hadn’t ventured out to kill monsters, leaving his score at 1372 points.

Herbert indeed closed the gap again.

Moreover, in just half a day, he gained another two hundred points?

Though for Gauss, this speed wasn’t particularly fast, it was noticeably quicker than his previous average of two hundred points a day.

If he gained more points in the afternoon, based on a pace of two hundred in half a day, re-registering might push him over fifteen hundred and surpass Gauss.

Doesn’t he ever rest? If memory serves, he’s been in this competition for several days; shouldn’t he be entering a fatigue period by now? Gauss couldn’t help but scratch his head.

Originally, Gauss wasn’t that concerned, but now felt a slight urgency, though he didn’t show it before Aaliyah.

Seems like he’d need another outing tonight to make up for the afternoon’s lacking points.

”Let’s eat first.”

...

Night fell.

A scarlet fire dragon rose from the outskirts of Lakeside Town.

Gauss sat on Hephaestus’s back.

Possibly due to acquiring the racial talent of medium level Dragon Language, he clearly felt an attitude change from Hephaestus towards him.

This change might even be something Hephaestus itself hasn’t noticed.

Previously, Gauss’s ”communication” with the Dragon Beast Hephaestus was typically through a kind of ”telepathy” to convey intent.
