I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 523: Chapter 294: Kill Count: 8000

”Delicious! Delicious!”

Everyone gathered around the giant crab leader to enjoy the feast.

Even the Dragon Beast Hephaestus got a share.

Of course, the portion for Hephaestus was limited, otherwise, it alone could devour the entire crab.

Seeing that Gauss supplied a few legs and some crab roe from the middle, he didn’t plan to supply more, and Hephaestus pondered.

It then ran off to another crab carcass, spewing dragon flames to roast it and satisfy its hunger with its own efforts.

However, to its disappointment, the other crabs, even those larger ones, didn’t taste as good as the leader.

But compared to goblins, kobolds were much more palatable, so it quietly enjoyed its meal.

Before long, a giant crab two meters wide was completely devoured under the ”siege” of the group, leaving only the bare shell.

”Burp—”

Gauss rarely let out a satisfied burp.

The level 5 giant crab was extremely nutritious, especially the meat and crab roe in the center, warming the body as if soaking in a hot spring.

”This iron-clawed giant crab leader seems a bit different.”

Gauss didn’t completely believe it was due to the level 5 demon or the giant crab itself.

Just like everyone has their own uniqueness, other creatures and demons also have their own special traits.

The other party members were equally satisfied.

Seeing their sleepy appearances after eating their fill, Gauss, though a bit drowsy,

considering only 22 monsters remained to reach the total of 8000, felt reinvigorated.

”You guys rest here for a while and gather the spoils. Hephaestus and I will scout the area for more monsters,” Gauss said to Aaliyah and the others, glancing at Hephaestus, who had already started lying down to rest in the distance.

”Okay, off you go,” Aaliyah nodded.

After informing his companions, Gauss motioned to Hephaestus before climbing onto the dragon.

Hephaestus flapped its wings, taking him back into the air.

...

Searching for a hundred or two monsters might be tricky, but finding a dozen or so was quite simple.

Especially using the Eagle Eye monocular from high above.

”Goblin killed *1”

As another goblin was pinned to the ground by the Flaming Arrow he released, a burnt charcoal smell wafted from its body.

The total monster kill count in front of him finally reached a new stage.

”Monster kill total: 7999”

”Monster kill total: 8000”

The milestone symbolizing 8000 kills lit up.

”Monster kill total: 8000/8000”

”Reward obtained: Special Casting Method [Breath Casting]”

What on earth?

Gauss was momentarily stunned, expecting a spell or some special professional talent as a reward.

Unexpectedly, it was a type of reward he had never seen before.

From a literal understanding, it wasn’t difficult.

It seems he’s been granted a new casting method, allowing him to unleash magic like a dragon breath?

What’s the point?

After choosing to accept the reward, a remarkable energy gradually gathered from deep within his body to his throat and mouth.

The energy continuously stimulated his Adam’s apple, oral cavity, tongue tip, and mucous membranes...

For a moment, Gauss felt his throat and mouth tingling, like low-voltage electricity coursing through them.

”Uh...”

Gauss patiently waited for a few minutes.

Until the transformation was complete.

He exhaled.

”Crack!”

As he exhaled, perhaps due to the unfamiliarity with the new casting ability, a surge of magic expelled from his mouth, causing a noticeable disturbance in the air.

”Huh?”

Gauss quickly closed his mouth.

It truly felt different.

How to describe it?

This casting method was a unique experience.

In the past, his casting mainly occurred in two forms: with a wand, focusing the spell at the magic wand’s tip or through it to form in front of him or at a designated spot.

Alternatively, without a wand, magic power naturally flowed from his body to the outside.

This method’s effect was relatively inferior.

Though, for using some low-level magic such as the Flaming Arrow trick, or 1st-level Spell Magic Missile already mastered, he often cast them barehanded for convenience.

Theoretically, magic power could flow out from most parts of his body, creating a Magic Effect in the outside world.

So, although he hadn’t tried it before, casting magic from his mouth should have been possible.

But that form was entirely different from the experience of using breath casting now.

He further sensed specific changes brought by the breath casting.

Finally making a preliminary judgment.

In simple terms, acquiring this new casting method altered part of his oral cavity at a physiological level.

His mouth was modified like a dragon’s to accommodate a special magical organ.

He could pre-accumulate some magic power in his mouth, accelerating the subsequent magic release process.

Sensing the newly added stream of information in his mind as if it were instinctual.

Gauss prepared to practically try out this new casting method.

He adjusted his bodily condition slightly.

For his first use of this new casting technique, naturally, he started with the simplest Flaming Arrow trick.

”Flaming Arrow!”

This magic he used with great proficiency.

As soon as the thought crossed his mind, the trick model and magic power inside his body activated automatically.
