I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 393: Chapter 244:

”Mr. Gauss, this is Director Adelle from the Eastern District Adventurer’s Guild in Sen City.”

Different from the elderly gentleman who received Gauss and his party in Forest Crown Town, this time the liaison was a vibrant female director.

”Hello, Mr. Gauss.”

”Hello, Director Adelle.”

”Let’s move to the VIP room to discuss in detail.”

Without intending to chat in front of everyone, Adelle gestured and led the way.

Gauss and his party immediately followed.

Only after their figures disappeared into a room at the end of the corridor did discussions start in the hall.

”Was that person coming down from the third floor?”

”Seems like she is a guild leader. I met her once last year when she was with President Rachel.”

”So, what is the status of the adventurers she’s receiving? Could they be someone important?”

”Shh...”

Generally, adventurers from different floors are received by guild staff from the respective floors; this kind of situation is rare.

It’s only natural for other adventurers to speculate.

Once the door closed, the VIP room instantly became extremely quiet.

It seemed this room had been treated with soundproofing; not a whisper from outside could be heard, as if they were in another world.

”These are the proofs we collected regarding this commission.” Gauss took out a bag of items from his storage pouch and placed it on the table.

”Director Adelle, do you need to verify these?”

Adelle’s gaze lingered on the group for a moment, then she lightly waved her hand, showing no intention to open and examine them.

”No need. In fact, we already received prior notification about you, Mr. Gauss.”

”Oh?” A look of surprise appeared on Gauss’s face.

Received prior notification about him?

What if he had gone to another adventurer’s guild, like a branch in the forest city Barry he visited before?

Even if he headed directly to Sen City, there were several adventurer guild branches there.

This could only mean, the Adventurer’s Guild seemed to be well-aware of his itinerary and destination.

As for notifying all surrounding adventurer guilds? While not impossible, from Adelle’s tone, it didn’t quite sound like that.

”May I ask, if your guild’s intelligence network is so strong, why couldn’t you pinpoint the specific location of this Black Tooth Tribe commission? Of course, if it’s confidential, just ignore my question.” Gauss couldn’t contain his curiosity any longer and asked.

Not to mention identifying a specific location, not even a rough location was available.

”Hehe, actually, it’s no big secret; it’s because the commission location is already inside the Jade Forest, making it impossible to obtain an accurate address.”

”The Jade Forest is a region controlled by demons, naturally protected, where the guild’s various reconnaissance and divination spells cannot function.”

”Moreover, for powerful factions like the Black Tooth Tribe, even within the demon kingdom, it becomes significantly more difficult to gather intelligence about them.”

”The same situation applies to demons targeting us.”

”Got it.”

Upon hearing this, Gauss nodded thoughtfully.

Adelle’s response was not difficult to understand. In short, it depended on whose territory the target was located. If on human territory, the guild could easily detect the opposing information, but if within the actual controlled area of the demons, the difficulty of detection increased.

Moreover, it also depended on the identity and background of the target.

For those without affiliation, so-called ”temporary workers,” wild monsters without a faction, and official demons with ”organization,” the treatment is vastly different.

Realizing this, he suddenly understood why, back when he was a bottom adventurer, most monsters encountered while taking on commissions around villages were ordinary monsters and almost no elite monsters in sight.

Elite monsters probably wouldn’t dare leave the Jade Forest casually, as they’d immediately be targeted by the guild’s intelligence system and promptly eliminated.

Over time, those elite monsters dared not casually exit the Jade Forest.

As for why human adventurers could continually explore the Jade Forest, it might be the demons lacked a behemoth like the Adventurer’s Guild? Or perhaps there were other special reasons.

”Actually, Mr. Gauss, the fact that you completed the commission well ahead of the estimated two months also surprised us greatly.”

”Just lucky, I guess.” Gauss responded with a faint smile.

He recalled the image of those adorable fairies in his mind.

After they burned those goblins, they escorted the fairies back to their homeland.

The smooth location of the goblin tribe was entirely thanks to the help of these forest natives.

However, this was also a mutually beneficial act; too many goblins in the forest posed a threat to the fairies’ normal existence.

Thus, on their return to the fairy village, they were lavishly entertained by the fairies.

And the fairy leader gifted him a flower emblem, symbolizing the fairies’ friendship. With this emblem, wherever he went, he would be met with ready friendship and assistance from the fairies.

”There’s no such thing as so much luck; it seems you are indeed as skilled in handling goblins as the intelligence depicted.”

”Additionally, this time you took down a goblin chief of level 6 challenge rating along with over a thousand goblins.” Adelle said, her beautiful eyes couldn’t help but glance at the team members a few more times.
