I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 371: Chapter 236: Night Raid (Part 2)

The goal of four thousand kills for the next phase reward is already within reach.

Tomorrow should be enough to meet the target.

Gauss stared blankly ahead.

Once the number is reached, and the rewards are obtained and absorbed, it’s time to head to the location of the goblins mining group mentioned by the little fairy.

According to the little fairy’s information, that location is not very close to here.

It’s almost near the direction of the mountains.

Suddenly, a warning sound echoed in his ear.

At the moment he heard the sound, he immediately grabbed the magic wand beside him and warned his teammates.

”Be careful, something’s up!”

”My alarm spell has been triggered!”

In fact, even before he spoke, Ying had already stood up from the ground.

Her perception seemed to detect the anomaly even earlier than Gauss’s alarm spell.

”Whoosh!!”

Accompanied by the arrow shot from her bow and arrow.

A splash of blood flew out from the bushes in the distance, followed by a heavy thud upon landing.

Only at this moment did Gauss smell a whiff of goblin stench.

Gauss and Serdur exchanged a glance, both realizing the oddity.

Especially Serdur, whose sense of smell is quite sharp, yet couldn’t catch their arrival in advance; only the alarm spell made them aware.

However, there’s no time to think about these now.

Ying’s arrow seemed to raise the curtain.

Almost at the instant the arrow left the bowstring, from the darkness around the camp, more than a dozen swift, small figures wearing red hoods sprang suddenly from all directions!

The bodies of these nighttime raiding goblins are smeared with specially concocted dark plant juices, forming some strange patterns on their skin surfaces, greatly covering their scent.

Red Hat Goblins?

Gauss raised his eyebrow.

When he just broke through to Level 1, he took on a task to clear the Red Hat Goblin Tribe, but back then, there was only one Red Hat Goblin as the leader.

Now just as the vanguard attacking, there are a dozen.

Indeed, they came aggressively.

Though these goblins’ strength isn’t at Level 1 challenge level, it’s not far off.

Considered as ”high-end combat power” among the low-level monsters.

If it were an ordinary adventure team composed of 4 Level 1 professionals, facing such a nighttime raid, they might suffer heavy losses in the first wave, perhaps even completely wiped out.

But Gauss did not panic.

The white magic wand in his hand glowed.

A clay goblin crawled up from the side, followed by a clay jackal-wolfman, and four clay spiders.

After completing the ”summons”, the top of the white magic wand lit up with blue light again.

In the blink of an eye, it formed and condensed.

The magic missile, shining brightly and deadly in the night, streaked across in a beautiful comet-like beam, hitting the rapidly advancing Red Hat Goblins.

These magic missiles weren’t advanced; instead, Gauss downgraded them, reduced consumption to the lowest.

No need to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

To be a bit melodramatic, ordinary goblins now, to Gauss, unless they are elite, are like ”ants”; even if they become elite demons, with the various buffs he possesses, he can instantly kill 1-2 level goblins. Perhaps starting from level 3 and above, he needs to pay more attention.

Others reacted quickly too.

Ying’s bow and arrow fired like a string of pearls.

Her hands are astonishingly steady.

Each arrow could precisely hit the rapidly running goblin’s throat.

The light from the campfire was limited.

The magic wand in Gauss’s hand released the ”Light Spell” to illuminate the surrounding objects, providing light, and then lit a few stones.

As the clay goblins forcefully threw the ”illuminating stones” Gauss made, the meteor-like stones scattered into the darkness, lighting up the forest scene.

He finally saw the number of monsters approaching constantly from the darkness.

Those dozen red-cloaked goblins were just the scout vanguard.

The number of goblins surrounding them was much more, dense and numerous, could hardly count quickly.

”Wow, have these goblins gone mad?” Gauss thought to himself.

That overwhelming scene didn’t give him any sense of pressure.

On the contrary, he only felt like laughing.

This is the absolute confidence developed from long-term goblin slaughter.

Just like how ordinary people naturally develop a sense of skilful control after long engagement in a particular job.

For Gauss, slaughtering goblins has almost become a deeply ingrained instinct.

Originally thought that it might drag to tomorrow, but now it seems that tonight he can get the reward.

The white magic wand in his hand glowed again.

Six Magic Missiles formed a hexagon in front as they converged.

”Whoosh!!!”

With yet another wave of Magic Missile attacks, Gauss’s monster kill count increased by another six.

As for the other goblins from more directions, they couldn’t approach in a short time.

Everyone in the team was strong.

Even the four seemingly weakest fairies showed strength that belied their small frames.

They flapped their wings and flew swiftly in the air, and weapons as long as toothpicks, like large steel needles, shone with a white light, effortlessly slicing through goblin flesh like cutting through tofu.

Gauss glanced with his peripheral vision, and from his rough estimation, the four fairies seemed to possess combat power beyond ordinary level 1 Professionals.

Along with Ulfen, Aik, and the Scale Powder Butterfly.

His Clay Goblin, Clay Jackal-Wolf People, four Clay Spiders.

The apparent team of four could actually muster a professional combat strength of 17 people!!

Possibly even 18.

This number is incredibly frightening.

”Monster kill count: 3952”

”Monster kill count: 3960”

”...3965”

”....”

Gauss’s count refreshed rapidly before his eyes.

As he killed goblins, the clay creatures helped him slay these monsters.

”Something’s wrong.”

Gauss was conjuring Magic Missiles in his hand while thinking.

Facing creatures obviously trembling with fear but still resolutely launching near-suicidal attacks.

Clearly abnormal, violating the most basic survival instincts.

So? Where are the other Elite Goblins?

Suddenly, Gauss heard a sharp tearing explosion in the air.

”Watch out.”

The shadow below his feet suddenly activated.

It wrapped around him.

Feeling the familiar power, Gauss instinctively didn’t resist.

His vision turned pitch black for a moment, the next, his body was transferred to Ying’s side, a dozen meters away.

”Bang!!!”

At the spot where he originally stood, an ear-splitting explosion accompanied the appearance of a huge pit!

Soil, grass debris, and campfire embers were violently flung skyward, the powerful shockwave even shattering nearby Clay Goblins.

The center of the pit was pierced by a crude yet enormous blood-red bone spear.

Grass debris in the pit was also burning.

”Thanks, it was a huge help.”

Gauss looked at Ying, sincerely expressing gratitude.

”No need to thank me.” Ying said little, slightly avoiding his gaze.

She had been watching Gauss’s side, thus activating her shadow ability at the first sign of trouble.

She could transfer others to her side through connecting shadows, as long as the target didn’t resist.

This was her first time using this ability, fortunately, it went smoothly.

She then looked up overhead, as the attack had come from above.

Gauss followed her gaze.

In the hazy moonlight, he could vaguely see a figure, a Goblin Bat Knight riding a large bat-like creature.

Gauss raised an eyebrow.

With the Goblin Bat Knight’s appearance, more Elite Goblins emerged from the forest.

Big Goblin, Goblin Shaman, Two-headed Goblin, Goblin Wolf Cavalry...

More than a dozen elite figures, far surpassing ordinary goblins, revealed themselves around.

”Now, we’re truly surrounded.”

He realized that such a display of force was definitely from the Black Tooth Tribe.

Yet, he hadn’t expected they’d target him before he went looking for them.

This place was still far from their mountain base camp.

So why exactly?

He’d come searching for the Black Tooth Tribe’s goblins because of an adventurer’s commission.

Did these creatures already know his information?

Could he have been marked as wanted within the goblin ranks?
