I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 360: Chapter 232: The Strange New Trend (Part 2)

Both of them expressed surprise at the same time.

”How is it you again?”

”Is it you?”

The woman, dressed in clean and neat attire, stepped back out of the doorway, checked the room number to confirm she hadn’t entered the wrong room, and then walked back in.

”Haha, it’s such a coincidence in the world, do you two know each other?” The Advanced Councilor caught their unusual reaction, adjusted his glasses, and smiled.

”No, we don’t know each other.” The woman spoke first.

She pretended to be calm, walked to the conference table, pulled out a chair, and sat down comfortably.

[Oh no, will your temporary teammate think you’re a thief?]

On the unnoticed ground by others.

Her shadow wriggled quietly, delivering a playful teasing thought to her.

The woman heard this and pursed her lips slightly.

She knew Gauss must have recognized her as the person from that night.

She just hoped Gauss wouldn’t question her about that night’s events in this setting.

Otherwise, she would really be embarrassed.

”We just had a brief encounter at the market a few days ago, and coincidentally bumped into each other on the street yesterday.” Gauss took over the conversation calmly, vaguely explaining to answer the Councilor’s doubt.

At the same time, it served to clear up any confusion for his two teammates.

Aaliyah nodded upon hearing the explanation.

She thought the woman opposite was an old acquaintance of Gauss.

The Advanced Councilor chuckled and didn’t press for more details.

”Since you’ve met, that’s even better. Let me introduce you all to each other just in case.”

”This is Miss Ying, a very outstanding Wanderer.”

”This is Gauss, a promising young Mage, and this is...”

The Advanced Councilor briefly started the introductions, then left the time to them to introduce themselves while he left the meeting room to attend to other work.

After he left.

The conference room suddenly became very quiet.

A subtle atmosphere spread in the room.

Serdur was originally reticent, indifferent to many things, especially not one to initiate conversations with strangers.

Aaliyah, on the other hand, kept glancing back and forth between Gauss and the woman named Ying.

Ying felt a bit guilty inside.

Although she knew she did a good deed that night, it might not have seemed so from Gauss’s perspective.

But if she took the initiative to explain, it might make her seem guilty, which would arouse more suspicion since the other party hadn’t said anything yet, and she would be explaining on her own...

It’s quite a dilemma...

Ultimately, it was Gauss who spoke first.

”Uh... Miss Ying, right?”

”Mm.” Ying nodded, expressionless.

”You’re a Wanderer? Could you tell us your level?” Actually, the moment Gauss saw her, he added a few points to his impression of her.

Although he still couldn’t judge whether she was suitable for team cooperation, a person willing to help the weak probably wouldn’t be too bad.

”Yes. Level is 5.” Ying replied succinctly.

The level wasn’t something worth hiding since if they were to cooperate later, they would eventually know.

As for her exact Profession, she didn’t intend to disclose it straight away to someone she just met.

Is that so? Gauss, who was originally just slightly concerned, was surprised when he heard the level she reported.

The teammates matched by the Adventurer’s Guild this time actually included a level 5?

The main reason being her appearance was too youthful.

Although he couldn’t ascertain her real age for now, she probably wasn’t too old; Gauss could detect differences in that area of temperament.

Such a young level 5 Professional was indeed uncommon.

Thinking about it made him somewhat conflicted.

Logically, the stronger the teammates, the better for cooperation.

But right now, it made their team’s paper strength seem lacking, as Serdur had only just broken through to level 4 as the team’s level delegate.

Even though Gauss knew his actual combat power was far beyond level 3, it didn’t change the fact that the temporary member who parachuted in became the highest level member in the team.

He wore a slightly awkward expression.

Having asked such questions, it was, of course, he who needed to introduce the team’s circumstances.

”I am a level 3 Mage, this is Serdur, level 4 Priest, and Aaliyah, a Level 2 Druid.”

”Our team’s levels may not be that high, but our actual combat power is decent.”

Indeed, upon hearing his reported levels, a brief flash of surprise appeared on Ying’s face, but it quickly returned to calm.

”No problem. If we confirm our cooperation, I can follow your commands.”

[Aren’t you going to seize command? You’re the highest level one in the team.] Her shadow began to encourage her again.

However, Ying pretended not to hear.

Having a shadow that could chat with her at any time meant she never felt lonely, but it also had its downsides.

Such as occasionally giving bad advice.

Even though she hadn’t often teamed up with others, she knew that as a temporary member, even if her strength was greater than the others, the best course of action was to follow their command.

Besides, she vaguely sensed something unusual about Gauss.

Gauss let out a sigh.

Since she came in, she’d maintained an expressionless face, and he thought she was arrogant, but through brief interaction, it seemed more like she simply talked less, preferring not to communicate or interact with others.

A level 5 Professional being humble enough to follow the command of lower-level teammates showed her professional quality and indicated she valued teamwork.

”Then I thank you for your trust first.” Gauss nodded. ”Let’s discuss the details of this assignment next.”
