I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 357: Chapter 231: Just a Passerby (2)

If confirmed, this commission might become the highest standard task they’ve taken since the team was established.

Even though the strength and number of enemies encountered while stationed at the No. 11 Outpost recently were far superior, a large-scale team commission is still different from an independent squad commission.

These commissions inherently carry risk.

But... the Guild offers quite a lot.

The reward is absolutely enough to feed a squad well.

Relying solely on executing ordinary commissions, even adding some beginner commissions undertaken by bronze-level adventurers, it’s unknown how many it would take to match up to this one time.

Moreover, there’s still the need to consider the time spent on the journey, preparation beforehand and afterward, and even for commissions deemed within one’s capability, unexpected situations might occur during the adventure. There’s no absolute safety once you set off.

Gauss looked at Aaliyah, whose eyes began to sparkle, knowing that she, like him when he first heard the reward, couldn’t help but feel tempted.

Honestly, who wouldn’t be stunned by this reward: the amount of resources needed to train an ordinary citizen with no abilities or talent to a level 5 professional, and the exchange content is customizable.

For him personally, because the commission target is the single goblin race, his special attack against goblins can be maximized.

His current title has already reached the third level in the [Goblin] series, [Goblin Slaughterer].

It comes with several special bonuses.

Star Destruction: Damage caused by attacks increases by an additional 30%.

Additionally, Star Destruction has an extra effect, Critical Strike, which has a certain probability of trigging a critical hit, significantly increasing the power of the attack.

Bloodthirst: Killing goblins and related advanced races have a probability of restoring 2% physical energy.

Just these three alone enable him to exhibit far superior power against this specific goblin race.

One could say that executing goblin-related commissions is currently the best option for Gauss.

The reward is generous, allowing for rapid accumulation of kill counts, increasing the level experience of two racial talents, and acquiring spiritual nourishment Magic Clay goblins...

”The reward is indeed excellent,” Aaliyah recovered from her thoughts. ”However, let’s wait until Serdur returns before we decide, and think it over these two days.”

”He should be returning soon, right?”

Aaliyah judged by her own standard.

The special energy had such a good effect on her, most likely it would similarly benefit Serdur, who was stuck at level 4 for quite a while.

At least from her own feeling, if she were stuck at a level bottleneck, with this kind of magical energy boost, upgrading should go quite smoothly.

The two communicated and discussed some details again in the room.

After a while, Aaliyah finally left Gauss’s room.

Regarding possible temporary new team members, her thoughts aligned with Gauss’s: wait for Serdur to return, formally gather the team, and find an opportunity to meet with the other party beforehand.

If they don’t get along, then decide based on circumstances.

In the afternoon, Gauss decided to stroll around the town and check if there were any shops selling Magic Clay.

Having come to Forest Crown Town for quite a while, except for the first day when he wandered around looking for an inn, he seems not to have observed this town during the day properly.

Leaving the inn, Gauss leisurely walked the streets.

Although not supported by official statistics, just by visual observation, he judged that the town’s permanent population should be much higher than that of Gray Rock Town.

Besides the locals, traveling merchants or adventurers dressed in different regional attire are also often visible.

While bringing vitality to the town, it also added some instability.

Just like the ”thief” he encountered a few nights ago and a few ill-tempered ”clerks,” thankfully, his strength stood out. Had it been an ordinary person, they would likely have suffered a loss.

”Therefore, our Gray Rock Town is still better.”

”Though commerce might be slightly less developed than here, the local customs are still relatively simple.”

With the intention of observing the town, Gauss unknowingly walked to an area he hadn’t been to before.

The buildings here were distinctly lower and more rundown compared to those on either side of the main road, and the streets became narrow with a faintly pervasive smell of damp, rotting wood in the air.

The clothing of passersby was much more plain, their faces weary from the toil of life.

”It seems that no glowing town can be without such a slum.”

In such slums, patrolling guards were nowhere to be seen.

In their place were some dirty leather armor clad, arrogantly walking local thugs.

However, when these ”locals” passed by Gauss, a unanimous phenomenon occurred.

The original clamor instinctively paused, their arrogance somewhat restrained.

Subsequently, they instinctively stepped aside, avoiding Gauss’s calm gaze, not daring to meet his eyes as if they were doing something wrong.

Since it was daytime, Gauss wore his adventurer outfit, which he used for field missions.

Additionally, under the bright afternoon weather, anyone who’s not blind could tell this guy is not to be messed with.

Gauss walked along the road.

Not long after, a burst of raucous laughter from an alley ahead drew his attention.

A few thugs surrounded a boy who looked only thirteen or fourteen years old.

The boy wore clothes patched but fairly clean, holding a few old books carefully wrapped in oilcloth tightly in his arms, with a noticeable red mark on his face, eyes red yet stubbornly biting his lip to keep the tears from falling.
