I Am Not A Goblin Slayer

Chapter 368: Chapter 235: The Afflicted Goblins

Fairies are a race that loves and hates clearly.

They resist strangers intruding into their lives and territories, but once they are recognized, they show great enthusiasm.

Along the way, these lovely little creatures flew energetically at the front of the team, their petite figures flexibly darting among the trees, guiding the team along a path easy to navigate.

Although the time they knew each other was short, Gauss decided to immediately apply the protection of the [Gauss Force Field] to the four fairy guides.

Even though there were four of them, the magic power consumed should not be much.

The energy consumption of the protective magic of the Gauss Force Field is closely related to the size of the target.

The fairy’s size is just slightly bigger than a palm, naturally not requiring much energy.

However, Gauss felt that the force field protection on these little ones was probably of no use.

Everything has two sides; while the gods close a door for you, they also open a window. The small size makes fairies less ferocious in direct combat than other creatures, but it also gives them a characteristic of being hard to attack, coupled with their agile flying ability, making it much harder for enemies to attack them.

Hence, when Gauss said he would apply protective magic to the four little ones.

The four little beings shook their heads vigorously, indicating they didn’t need it, and didn’t want Gauss to waste magic power.

But Gauss decided to do it anyway.

As his magic power released from the tip of his magic staff, a nearly invisible transparent force field with magical glow, like the lightest of bubbles, enveloped these little ones.

”Big Guy, you are wasting your magic power a bit; good steel should be used on blades.” Said Ji Grass, the warrior who was the fairy team leader, bowing gratefully to Gauss.

”I have plenty of magic power; don’t worry. In the time it takes to breathe, I can recover.”

The squad swiftly traversed through the forest under the guidance of the local fairies.

Since it was unclear which goblins were the targets Gauss needed to find, and at Gauss’s request, the fairies led him past the goblin settlements they knew along the way.

”Look, are these the ones you’re looking for?”

The fairies pointed to a clearing outside the leaf gaps.

Even at a distance, the lingering foul smell could be detected.

A dozen or so goblins were lazily going about their ”daily” lives.

A few goblins were fiddling with the campfire piled up with rough stones in the center of the camp, throwing various foods into clay pots.

Some other goblins were fighting over a bloody rabbit skin, scratching each other with sharp nails, until finally, a stronger individual stomped on another goblin’s head, snatched the rabbit skin, and tied it on its head despite the dirtiness, showing a satisfied smile.

”Probably not.” Gauss shook his head, but a smile appeared on his lips.

The target pointed out by the fairies had various wooden weapons by their side, and apart from animal hides and leaves around their waists, they had no other protection.

Such shabby attire obviously had nothing to do with their mission goal.

It was just a group of ordinary wild goblins, no different from the many clans Gauss had previously vanquished.

”Recently, green-skinned scoundrels of this scale in the forest have become more numerous.” The fairy sighed.

As ”locals” in the forest, they had the most direct sense of the changes within the forest.

For those strong demons, goblins are actually insignificant, but ordinary beasts, especially some herbivores, often get troubled.

Ordinary predation does not cause resentment in fairies, as it is simply a normal natural phenomenon.

But goblins are not ordinary predators; as the clans grow, their surrounding biological ecosystem often suffers devastating blows; merely the act of capturing female individuals as breeding machines and slaughtering them for food after reproduction is enough to instinctively disgust fairies who favor good-natured creatures.

Therefore, fairies have the habit of collecting goblin intelligence daily and periodically organizing a combat-capable squad to hunt goblin clans.

Such as Ji Grass, Dandelion, Ying, and Moss, who were part of the elite goblin-attacking team following Gauss this time.

Don’t underestimate their size; ordinary goblins hardly have much power to resist them.

After all, they were among the few elite individuals born out of hundreds upon thousands of fairies.

When Gauss decided to launch an attack on the goblins ahead, the four little ones were also filled with enthusiasm, waving weapons in preparation to fly towards the goblins, but they hadn’t even started moving.

Gauss then took action.

As the magic wand in his hand lit up, six clusters of magic missiles formed swiftly in the air before him.

After quickly locking on, the comet-like azure spheres landed precisely among the goblin group’s largest few.

”Boom boom boom!”

A series of terrifying explosions sounded.

The targeted goblins and those around them were all blown away by the terrible blast shockwave.

In just one encounter, the number of goblins sharply diminished by more than half.

The remaining goblins at the periphery were dumbfounded, not understanding what had happened.

An extremely terrifying aura abruptly descended on the air, causing their limbs to feel icy cold, even temporarily losing the ability to move.
