Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 917: Chapter 741: Becoming Neighbors with Snape_3

Unfortunately, Dumbledore was also not at the school this holiday, and he made several trips in vain.

The front page of the newspaper was filled with photos of him around the castle, quite a number in fact.

Rita Skeeter even bluntly exposed his intentions in her reports.

As a professional, she clearly knew what people wanted to see the most now... undeniably, it was to criticize the inactive minister.

The article also mentioned that since September, the Ministry of Magic had done nothing substantive.

Kael could imagine that if he hadn’t gone to Nicolas, but had stayed at the school, he would certainly have been busy.

At the very least, Fudge would definitely have sought him out when he couldn’t find Dumbledore.

Honestly, Kael would rather lie in a deck chair basking in the sun than waste time on the tedious task of salvaging Fudge’s reputation.

The two climbed the steps, arriving at the oak doors of the castle.

Filch was already there guarding, as usual holding the Dark Arts Items Detector, circling around Kael and Conna several times until confirming there was no problem before signaling that they could enter the castle.

”Fred was indeed right, this kind of inspection is completely useless.” Conna said, taking out a square box from her pocket, which contained the little gadgets she bought from Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes.

But when the device scanned just now, there was no reaction.

”Don’t say that, it’s just that you didn’t bring any Dark Arts Items.” Kael glanced behind him, ”Besides, not everyone knows how to use the Undetectable Extension Charm.”

The two returned to the common room.

Although the train hadn’t arrived yet, because most people chose to stay at school, the common room was still bustling.

Kael and Conna sat down at an empty table.

”Kael, how was your Christmas?” Ryan, who was playing Wizard Chess, looked up and asked.

”Not bad,” Kael said. ”How about you? Anything happening at school?”

”The Fat Lady drank a huge barrel of 500-year-old wine, does that count?” Ryan said, ”She and her friend, I think her name is Violet... they drank all the wine from the portrait of the drunken monk next to the Charm Class corridor.”

”What a disaster that was...” Mikel said with lingering fear, ”They kept going from portrait to portrait, their howling-like singing lasted until two in the morning.”

”Students throughout the school couldn’t sleep because of the noise.”

”I really hope those drunken monks can hide their wine in a safer place, never to be found again.”

Hearing this, everyone immediately started complaining, clearly having been tormented enough.

The fact that the Fat Lady liked to drink was no secret at Hogwarts, and Gryffindor students often complained about it, saying that once the Fat Lady got drunk, she forced everyone to listen to her singing before she would open the common room door.

But they never thought that this habit would affect students from other houses.

It seems Gryffindor students really have it rough... having to endure it for seven years.

But some said that Professor McGonagall had already warned the Fat Lady, even saying she changed Gryffindor’s password to ”abstinence” overnight.

As for whether this was true, no one knew, since they wouldn’t just go to the eighth floor for no reason to test if the password was correct.

Other than this incident, nothing else special happened.

With still some time before the opening feast, Conna wanted to read a little more, while Kael decided to make a trip to the Headmaster’s Office.

He wanted to ask Dumbledore about that Time Turner.

But when he reached the eighth floor, he found that Dumbledore was out again and not at the school, with only the former headmasters in the office pretending to be asleep.

”What brings you here again?” a male wizard asked, seemingly accustomed to Kael’s sudden appearances.

”Dumbledore is at the Ministry of Magic right now. If it’s urgent, I can call him for you.”

”Thank you, Headmaster Avery, but there’s no need,” Kael said. ”I don’t have anything important, it can wait for Professor’s return.”

”Alright then.”

Kael nodded and left the Headmaster’s Office.
