Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 896: Chapter 734: Reliable Assistant Fawkes (2)

Because there’s no need for it.

”Are you pretending not to understand, or do you really not get it?” Headmaster Dippet glanced sideways at Phineas, ”Do you have any idea who this child is talking about?”

”Who else could it be but you?” Phineas said, ”It can’t be Spore, though she does have quite a bit of free time...”

”What did you say?”

Two witches rushed into his portrait one after the other, and without a word, started punching and kicking Phineas.

From the looks of it, they seemed to be the same person, but one appeared middle-aged, and the other was much younger. However, Kael had never seen her before.

Before Kael could think much about it, the sounds of screams echoed through the Headmaster’s Office.

Dumbledore seemed accustomed to all of this, as he skillfully waved his wand and the screaming abruptly stopped.

In the portrait, Phineas was still being beaten, but no sound came out...

”Both of them are Phyllida Spore; they’re just portraits from different periods of her life,” Dumbledore explained.

”Can one person leave two portraits in the Headmaster’s Office?” Kael asked in confusion.

”Theoretically, yes.”

”Alright, let’s get back to the point,” Dumbledore said, ”I might have to leave Hogwarts for a while. Could you keep an eye on Draco Malfoy for me?”

”I’m quite busy, Professor,” Kael replied, ”I’m in seventh year now, and I have my N.E.W.T. exams in six months. To secure a good job after graduation, I need to earn enough certificates. Perhaps you should ask someone else.”

Kael said, ”I think Professor Snape would be suitable. He’s the Head of Slytherin House, he has plenty of time, and watching Malfoy or even Harry would suit him.”

”Harry?” Dumbledore raised an eyebrow, ”I recall their relationship isn’t exactly friendly.”

”That’s precisely why he’s suitable,” Kael said, ”They’ve been rivals for six consecutive years, no one knows each other better. If Draco Malfoy acts out of character, Harry would definitely notice first.”

”But he’s not the best choice,” Dumbledore shook his head, ”Harry can be impulsive, and he might overlook certain special things in certain situations.”

”Also, Kael, I think you’ve misunderstood me,” Dumbledore continued, ”I’m not asking you to watch Malfoy all the time, just to keep an eye out and ensure no Dark Arts items enter Hogwarts.

”You know, Katie Bell is still at St. Mungo’s; we can’t have a second student ending up there.”

”Alright, I’ll try my best,” Kael said.

If that’s all, it isn’t too troublesome.

The school is different from Hogsmeade; it’s not so easy to sneak in Dark Arts items. And even if Dumbledore leaves the school, the professors are still here. Neither Professor McGonagall nor Professor Flitwick could easily be fooled, and Malfoy isn’t that foolish.

At most, I’d play a supportive role.

Seeing Kael agree, Dumbledore nodded.

”Oh, is it that late already?” He glanced at the darkening sky outside the window. ”You must be hungry too. I heard the kitchen made fried pork chops tonight, or you could come with me to No. 12 Grimmauld Place; Molly would certainly welcome you.”

”I’d rather go to the Great Hall,” Kael said, standing up.

”I thought so...” Dumbledore said, watching Kael with a teasing expression, showing a gossipy look on his face, ”It’s just us boring adults at No. 12 Grimmauld Place; I’m sure you’d rather stay at school, right?”

Kael didn’t answer; he just stood up and subtly glanced at the silver tea canister on the table.

Dumbledore keenly noticed the change in Kael’s gaze and immediately grew tense, reaching out to put away the tea canister.

At this moment, Kael suddenly looked towards the window behind him in surprise, ”Professor McGonagall? What are you doing outside on a broom, oh... be careful!”

Instinctively, Dumbledore turned his head to look...

Then he seemed to feel a gust of wind brush against his cheek, stirring a few beard strands.

How odd, the window was closed, so how was there wind?

Before he could think further, a bad feeling struck him, and with immense self-control, he reined in his instincts and turned his head back.

And then he saw, the silver tea canister on the table had already been taken by Kael.

He should have known, how could McGonagall be outside the Headmaster’s Office window on a broom at night? It was clearly an excuse by Kael to distract him.

But why did he fall for such a clumsy trick?

Dumbledore was frustrated with himself.

But there was no time to think about it; he needed to quickly salvage the situation...

Dumbledore thought quickly... but Kael didn’t give him the chance.

As if having practiced countless times, once he got the tea canister, Kael dashed to the door without looking back, his actions smooth and flowing.

By the time Dumbledore got up, Kael was already at the door, just one step away from opening it.

Dumbledore hoped Fawkes could stop Kael in time.

And Fawkes noticed the change in Dumbledore’s gaze. It flew down from its perch, came to Kael, and used its wings to open the door for him.
