Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 854: Chapter 720: Professor Babbling’s Warning (2)

She watched in the direction Ryan had left, her usually calm eyes gradually filling with curiosity, as if she had witnessed something interesting in the plot.

She had never thought there would be a second student who, while still in school, would pay attention to the matter of Original Magic Text, and she was also quite curious if Ryan’s choice would be the same as that person’s before.

Of course, no matter what choice Ryan made, she wouldn’t intervene, just quietly remain a bystander, just like fifty years ago.

...

On another side, Ryan jogged all the way to the Charm Class classroom, but despite that, he was still ten minutes late.

”I’m sorry, Professor Flitwick, I asked Professor Babbling some questions and lost track of time,” Ryan explained at the doorway.

”Remember to come earlier next time, at least don’t delay other students’ class time,” Professor Flitwick said, giving a mild punishment.

”Hufflepuff loses one point, alright, come in quickly.”

Ryan nodded and walked into the classroom.

”Where were we just now...” Professor Flitwick clapped his hands, drawing everyone’s attention to himself, ”Ah yes, wandless spellcasting.”

He continued, ”This is also a skill that every wizard needs to master. Now, can anyone tell me the benefits of wandless spellcasting?”

”It allows a wizard not to be completely defenseless after losing their wand,” Cho raised her hand and said.

”Exactly right, five points to Ravenclaw,” Professor Flitwick said, ”For a wizard, nothing is more terrifying than losing their wand.

”And at such times, wandless spellcasting becomes a last resort. I remember when I became the champion of the Duel Tournament, it was because in one match, due to a momentary lapse, my opponent snatched my wand.

”He thought he had won and began to celebrate too early, but then I hit him with a wandless Stunning Spell and he lost the match.”

Professor Flitwick’s face showed a reminiscent expression, ”So wandless spellcasting, it’s also a wizard’s final trump card.”

...

”By the way, how many times has Professor Flitwick won the Duel Tournament?” Mikel whispered below, ”Why do I remember in previous Charm Classes, he said he won with a Swamp Spell?”

”As far as I know, Professor Flitwick has won the Duel Tournament three times,” Ryan thought for a moment and said, ”If he hadn’t come to Hogwarts afterward, that number might have been higher.”

”Three-time champion, huh...” Mikel clicked his tongue, ”Well, that explains it.”

”We’ll start with the simplest, the Levitating Spells.” At this point, Professor Flitwick had already begun teaching them the key points of wandless spellcasting.

”Concentration is crucial,” he said, ”Keep your eyes on your feather at all times, and imagine you’re holding a wand. Now, everyone start saying the incantation...”

”Wingardium Leviosa!” A chorus of disorganized voices echoed in the classroom.

The feathers on the tables wobbled and floated up, but none were normal; Ryan’s feather swayed left and right, while Mikel’s spun in the air like a top.

Even Conna’s feather trembled slightly, occasionally dipping down a little.

The Charm Class classroom seemed to momentarily return to seventh grade, as if everyone were in first grade again, trying hard to make their feathers float.

However, Professor Flitwick was quite satisfied with this result. He had thought half the students managing to float the feathers would be good enough, so this outcome was already much better than last year.

”Not bad, not bad,” he clapped his hands and said loudly, ”Concentrate, imagine your fingers as a wand, you all can do it...”

With his reminder, some people gradually became familiar with the feeling, and more and more feathers began to stay stable in mid-air.

Being able to perform magic without a wand was pretty marvelous truth be told, and there was an unexplainable sense of achievement in it.

Ryan quite liked this feeling; after successfully stabilizing his feather, he quickly grew dissatisfied with the small-scale practice and turned his sights to the ”Standard Spell: Level 7” book on the table.

”Wingardium Leviosa!” Ryan pointed his finger at his textbook.

The heavy ”Standard Spell: Level 7” trembled violently on the table, and the next second, it flew straight onto Ryan’s head.

”Thud!”

Accompanied by a heavy thudding sound, a huge bump appeared on Ryan’s forehead, knocking him unconscious immediately.

”Didn’t I already say, practice with the feather first?” Professor Flitwick said sharply, ”Someone help get him to the Hospital Wing.”

Mikel immediately abandoned his top-like feather and eagerly took up the task.

Mikel, due to his personal reasons, dared not exert full magic power, and wandless spellcasting required precise magic control, so for him, it was a nearly impossible task.

”How did your inquiry go?” Conna asked while controlling the feather in front of her, ”Did Professor Babbling agree to teach you?”

”No, she didn’t.” Ryan moved his fingers, and the feather moved with them. ”She said it was a waste of time.”

”What do you think then?” Conna asked, ”Maybe you could ask Professor McGonagall or Professor Dumbledore, they might be able to teach you too.”

”Forget it,” Ryan shook his head after thinking for a moment, ”Actually, I think Professor Babbling might be right...”

After class, Ryan was ready to visit Ryan at the Hospital Wing. On his way, he ran into Hermione and Harry.
