Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard

Chapter 857: Chapter 721: Fudge Scared Stiff_2

Amelia Bones did not rely on flattery to attain the position of Head of the Law Enforcement Department; her strength is equally formidable.

In a one-on-one situation, those Death Eaters could hardly defeat her in such a short time.

Unless there are enough of them.

But Scrimgeour couldn’t understand how the Death Eaters managed to infiltrate the Ministry of Magic. Every passage here is strictly guarded by them, especially the corridor with the fireplace, where two large Peeping Mirrors are installed; logically speaking, it’s impossible for someone to slip in unnoticed.

Yet the Death Eaters arrived as a group of three, and they received no prior notice.

This left Scrimgeour’s face burning, as if someone had given him a harsh slap.

”I think we need to pay a visit to the Magic Transportation Department,” said Tonks. ”I suspect someone there is assisting them.”

”Then what are you waiting for?” Scrimgeour, feeling irritable, roared.

After Kingsley and Tonks left, he also used his wand to lift the petrified Amelia, ”Minister, I must take her to St. Mungo’s immediately, please step aside.”

”Yes, yes, she needs to go to St. Mungo’s,” Fudge said hesitantly, trying to press himself close to the wall.

Amelia Bones being attacked in the Ministry seemed to have completely undone his composure.

”Thank you.” Scrimgeour watched his behavior, furrowed his brow, but said nothing, instead heading towards the elevator with the petrified Amelia.

Fudge hesitated for a moment and then immediately followed.

”Wait, Rufus, I’m coming with you.”

Perhaps Fudge believed that the safest place is beside this Head of the Auror Office, so he followed without hesitation.

As for what others might think... A minister caring for a colleague who has been attacked, that’s perfectly normal, right?

And compared to one’s own safety, nothing else really matters.

After they left, Dumbledore and Kael also stepped out from an office next to the corridor.

Just before Scrimgeour arrived at the corridor, Dumbledore had taken Kael inside to hide.

”We shouldn’t be in the Ministry right now, you and I both shouldn’t be here,” Dumbledore explained.

However, Kael thought Dumbledore simply wanted to avoid being troubled by Fudge or anyone else.

Of course, he didn’t say this out loud.

”But Professor, what exactly is going on?” Kael stood there, still unclear about what had happened, why Amelia Bones was attacked, and why Dumbledore was at the Ministry.

Before Dumbledore could speak, Chris quietly said, ”Someone else is coming.”

Actually, he didn’t need to remind them, everyone heard the incoming footsteps in the distance; clearly, more than one or two people were coming this time, presumably members of the Ministry wanting to check things out after receiving news.

”This isn’t the place for discussion.” Dumbledore grabbed Kael’s arm, ”Follow me.”

Kael felt a dizzying sensation and when he regained his senses, he found himself standing in the foyer of No. 12 Grimmauld Place, with Phineas’s portrait opposite him.

Although right now, Phineas was still in the Headmaster’s Office at Hogwarts, with only an empty frame in front of him.

”Who’s there?”

Mrs. Weasley burst out of a room, wand in hand, upon hearing the noise.

”Dumbledore, Kael? What are you doing here?”

”It’s a long story, Molly.” Dumbledore explained, ”Could I have a cup of tea? If possible, with plenty of sugar.”

”Oh, no problem, I’ll get right on it,” Mrs. Weasley said, heading to the kitchen.

Dumbledore and Kael also followed her inside.

”You must be curious why I’m in the Ministry, right?” he asked.

Kael nodded; Fawkes merely told him a Basilisk was needed, then took him away.

”That’s because I received word that the Death Eaters were going to act against the Ministry staff, intending to strike terror,”

Dumbledore said as he sat down on a chair by the dining table, ”I thought their target was Fudge... and that’s precisely the case; nothing would be more terrifying than the murder of the Minister of Magic. But I did not expect such dramatic changes to occur.”

”Was Ms. Bones able to detect the disguise by the Death Eaters?” Kael asked.

”Yes, in fact, what they said in the Ministry turned out to be mostly true. Though I rushed over as fast as possible, I was still a bit late.”

Dumbledore’s tone was somewhat complex, ”Amelia has always been a diligent, careful witch with keen insight, qualities she already displayed while she was in school.

”But this time I truly wish she lacked those good qualities... your father and others were all on the first floor and ended up empty-handed,” Dumbledore sighed.

”I suppose they believed Ms. Bones carried significant weight too,” Kael said, ”After all, she’s the head of the Law Enforcement Department, an important member of Wizengamot, not much less influential than Fudge.”

”You’re right, that was my oversight.”

At this moment, Mrs. Weasley also placed a pot of tea on the table, along with a pot of pumpkin juice for Kael.

”Amelia, what happened to her?”

”She was ambushed by the Death Eaters, severely injured,” Dumbledore said.

”Oh dear, within the Ministry?” Mrs. Weasley’s voice trembled slightly; she always thought the Ministry was the safest place besides No. 12 Grimmauld Place and Hogwarts.
