”They have been repelled, and probably won’t dare to come again for a while. It seems this city is really controlled by the Black Rope Sect. Despite fighting for so long, there hasn’t been a sound from the Viscount’s side.”

Yifa sat on the chair to rest, and said disdainfully, looking down on both the Black Rope Sect and Viscount Ola, as a noble, losing control of the city.

Nobu shook his head: ”After all, the plague exists, this is something unavoidable. The Viscount will come early tomorrow morning for the cleansing oath, and once completed, our All Beings Sect will have a firm foothold in Du Lan.”

”As for the Black Rope Sect, it’s not a big issue, sooner or later it will be dealt with, it’s just a matter of early or late, we don’t need to be in such a hurry.”

Yifa nodded, taking a deep breath to calm himself, knowing that only in calmness can more Power be accumulated, and only with enough stability in ordinary times can explosive combat power be unleashed in battle, ”I will go rest for a while, call me if anything arises.”

Nobu smiled and said: ”You can relax a bit, no need to be so suppressed.”

The night descended, and once again, everything fell into peace, believers in white attire went onto the streets to clean the bloodstains left from the day, then, cooperating with the city’s cleaning personnel, carried the corpses away on carts to be cremated.

Not long after, a black carriage slowly arrived again, but this time it was not the Viscount who disembarked, but his butler, a middle-aged man with a capable appearance.

”The Viscount feels deeply sorry and very angry about this. The people from the Black Rope Sect simply wouldn’t listen to reason, acting on impulse, just due to certain reasons, the City Guard lost control.”

The butler said in a deep tone to Nobu, feeling disregarded by the Black Rope Sect, even as someone with his status as a butler.

Nobu seemed unconcerned as he said: ”It’s fine, we also won the fight. Those people from the Black Rope Sect are just a cult, manipulating people’s hearts, I think they should be expelled from Du Lan.”

The butler breathed a sigh of relief, then said: ”The Viscount will reorganize the City Guard soon, to prevent such malicious events from happening again.”

Nobu nodded, glancing at the black carriage outside, and said: ”No problem, we can understand the Viscount’s predicament.”

After speaking, he saw that the butler had no intention of leaving, and asked: ”Is there anything else?”

The butler paused: ”It’s like this, because the Marchioness’s condition is too severe, the Viscount decided to let her come first to undergo the cleansing, to heal her illness.”

Nobu was slightly taken aback: ”No problem, Adis, bring the Marchioness inside, to join the group for the cleansing oath.”

After all, she is the Marchioness, some special treatment is nothing out of the ordinary.

Adis nodded in agreement, walked out, seeing that the Marchioness had already come down. She was a beautiful woman, even with parts of her skin ulcerated on her face, she still radiated a gentle beauty.

”No wonder the Viscount loves his wife so deeply.” he muttered, walking over to assist the Marchioness into the chapel.

The Marchioness turned her head towards him, smiling as she asked: ”Is there anything I need to be cautious about? I wish not to offend the Divine Spirit.”

Adis said flatly: ”There’s nothing to worry about, just change into the ceremonial attire later, and follow the mentor in declaring the vows.”

He did not hold much fondness for the Nobility, and now being a believer of the All Beings Sect, he didn’t bother to flatter.

The Marchioness completed the cleansing oath, yet did not leave, remaining in the chapel with a worried appearance.

Angisun approached, full of smiles: ”Does the Marchioness still remember me?”

The Marchioness turned her head towards him, revealing a surprised expression: ”You are Angisun, I heard you were missing earlier?”

Everyone counts as Nobility, so they knew each other, often meeting at various gatherings.

Angisun sighed and said: ”I was trapped by the Black Rope Sect underground, only recently escaping.”

Upon hearing his words, the Marchioness fell into a brief silence, saying: ”I’m sorry, because of the Viscount’s negligence, you suffered disaster.”

Angisun shook his head: ”Since you can appear here, it shows that he is a responsible person.”

The Marchioness revealed a hint of amazement.

......

The next morning, everyone in the chapel received shocking news, the Viscount was dead, and his corpse hung in the center of the square for passersby to see.

The entire city knew about this news, and likely knew it was done by the Black Rope Sect.

”They are too arrogant!” Yifa said angrily, never imagining the Black Rope Sect would have the audacity to kill the Viscount overnight.

Nobu sighed: ”As for bringing his wife here yesterday, he probably foresaw he might be victimized himself. I should have thought of it too...”

At this moment.

The Marchioness sat blankly at the chapel entrance, seemingly having anticipated this, and did not appear overly emotional.

”I am very sorry.” Nobu glanced at the Marchioness, speaking calmly.

The Marchioness bowed her head: ”It’s nothing, this was all his own choice. He said even in death, he would want to die with the dignity of a noble, rather than being controlled by others.”

The voice slightly trembled.

Nobu didn’t say much more comforting words: ”If you wish, you can stay here forever, you are a believer of All Beings Sect.”

Due to the Viscount’s death, the Black Rope Sect became completely insane, Du Lan turning into a battleground for both sides.

The number of people coming to the chapel for the cleansing oath drastically reduced, those who came were risking their lives.

The Black Rope Sect once again blocked the surrounding streets, although not actively attacking, effectively preventing the All Beings Sect from expanding further.

”I’ll take people to eliminate them!” Yifa said resolutely, feeling that at this point, only the most primitive means could be used.

Nobu shook his head: ”Don’t rush, that’s outside the scope of Faith; attacking them could be dangerous. We’ll stay here and see what they do.”

”The Black Rope Sect’s outrageous behavior has angered everyone in Du Lan. We only need to unite with the people of Du Lan, and can easily destroy the Black Rope Sect.”

The Viscount was the last facade of dignity for Du Lan, his death probably put the Black Rope Sect in opposition to everyone, whether civilians or Nobility.

The entire day, gunfire continued incessantly on Thirteenth Street, occasionally small groups from the Black Rope Sect would come to attack.

Meanwhile.

People in the city also spontaneously formed organizations against the Black God Cult.

Near midday, the City Guard erupted in internal chaos, causing hundreds of casualties.
