Global Game: I Have Portable Store

After saying this, Jie Chuan paused, laughed, and said, ”Ha, I was joking, the man is still different.”

It’s not that he’s different, but because he’s the same that he feels scared. Just now, he inexplicably said something strange, although it was what he thought, it was never something he could say out loud.

What’s going on?

”Ha? Is that so?” Xu Kai showed a hint of confusion.

They carefully checked the surroundings. The monsters here had been cleared not long ago, so it was considered safe.

They set up camp where those people had stayed before, and in passing, collected the leftover supplies.

There were plenty of supplies, enough for them to last a long time unless something unforeseen happened.

Night gradually fell, shrouded in black mist; darkness completely swallowed the earth, little sparks lit up, and a light rain began to fall, with the temperature suddenly dropping.

”It’s suddenly getting cold, what’s going on?”

Ge Yunhua looked up at the sky and felt that the black mist seemed to be thinning out.

Jie Chuan wasn’t very concerned, saying, ”It’s not that strange, the world is already like this.”

They led a team to clear the streets of these twisted bodies, like human zombies.

Their skin was wrinkled, some had three legs, or three arms, even two heads. Although their movements were weak, they always caused unease.

”What did that man give you?” Jie Chuan looked at the pendant around Xu Kai’s neck and asked.

Xu Kai looked down at the pendant and said, ”This? It’s a mysterious item with some protective power.”

Apart from him, no one knew the function of this pendant, but many people saw Su Changxing give him the pendant.

It was an item from a powerful Extraordinary. Claiming not to be tempted would be a lie, but no one dared to act on it, mainly because of Su Changxing’s presence, and secondly because Xu Kai himself was very strong.

In the second half of the night, they hid in the room, some people slept on the floor, while others stood guard.

Muted whispers filled the room.

”What is that outside, something’s coming down.” Xu Kai leaned by the window, eyes wide, noticing some black dots falling from the sky.

Then, a crisp sound of impact came from outside.

In the rain, live fish hit the ground on the street, energetically bouncing around.

Are fish falling from the sky?

Xu Kai was startled, the hint of sleepiness he had vanished instantly, and he shouted, ”Don’t sleep, something’s happening!”

Some awoke before he shouted, and after he did, everyone nearby woke up, looking at the strange scene outside the window.

Nobody knew what was happening outside, but they vaguely knew it was best not to go out.

The sound of fish scales hitting the ground was like a mesmerizing symphony, at first panic-inducing, then drowsily overwhelming, gradually infiltrating people’s minds, unconsciously dragging them into a stupor.

Bang~

Xu Kai’s head hit the glass. The sound of shattering glass jolted him awake again, as if he had climbed out of a foggy dream, feeling weak all over.

After a pause, he looked around the room. Many people had collapsed on the ground, or were contorted into strange postures, twisting their bodies with the sound of bones cracking.

”Chen Qian, wake up!”

He pushed a woman with short curly hair, her arms stretched out, body bent sideways, to the ground, shouting.

His push actually woke Chen Qian up.

”What happened?”

Chen Qian looked around, full of fear, panic etched on her face; no one could remain calm in such an environment.

Xu Kai realized that he seemed to be the only one able to maintain some clarity:

”Could it be because of the pendant?”

He looked down at the gun-shaped ancient bronze pendant, thinking that this might be what set him apart from the others—not a superpower, but this ability to stay awake.

Chen Qian, trembling, got up from the ground and asked, ”What’s wrong with them?”

”Let’s wake them up first,”

Xu Kai said immediately, pushing another person to the ground, but this time the person did not wake up, instead collapsing completely, bones breaking, just like those zombies.

Chen Qian realized, her mouth wide open, almost speechless, ”They, those zombies...”

Xu Kai’s hands were also trembling, but he still pushed these people down one by one. Some woke up, others collapsed completely.

He felt he was killing them, in a special way, playing with lives.

He loathed this feeling and resisted killing, his face twisted, heart feeling like it was about to burst.

Jie Chuan opened his eyes, saw Xu Kai sweating profusely, bloodshot eyes, and then looked around, understanding what happened.

”Let’s get out of here, we need to leave,”

he immediately shouted, his voice almost hoarse, as if using all his strength.

The next moment, just as he was about to get up, he fell to the ground again, as if something was pressing on him, rendering him immobile.

He grabbed the ”shotgun,” turned, and fired behind him. With a gunshot, a person who was ”dancing” was shot and fell to the ground.

Xu Kai yelled, ”What are you doing!”

He watched as Jie Chuan, seemingly crazed, shot the ”dancing” woman next to him, her blood splattering onto his face.

Jie Chuan got up from the ground, looked at the person he had shot, said nothing more, and then ran out like a madman.

”Leave here, Xu Kai, leave here, don’t worry about the others.”

He seemed to realize something and shouted.

Ge Yunhua also stumbled over and said, ”Xu Kai, we have to go, we can’t stay here any longer!”

At this moment, who could care about others? Surely securing one’s own life is more important.

Xu Kai didn’t hesitate and said, ”Wait, maybe the rest of them can still be saved, we can’t abandon them.”

Ge Yunhua didn’t say much, grabbed Xu Kai by the hand, and started to walk out, feeling he couldn’t let Xu Kai die here, it wasn’t worth it.

Out of thousands, only a little over a hundred made it out.

They stood on the empty, dark street, rain falling from the sky, but there weren’t any of those jumping fish on the ground.

”We have to leave, we can’t stay in the town.”

Jie Chuan immediately said, seeing Xu Kai and others come out, he breathed a sigh of relief.

”The black mist has disappeared.”

Chen Qian looked toward the sky, speechless, as the light of the stars illuminated her pretty face.

Others followed suit, looking up; it had been a long time since they had seen such a scene, a vast starry sky.

They ran along the rain-soaked road, heading out of town, with puddles of water filling the uneven road.

”Neigh~”

The excited neigh of a horse.

A monster, looking like a gigantic horse with tentacles covering its back, appeared on the distant street, charging at them, reaching them in the blink of an eye.

More than ten people were knocked off their feet, crashing to the ground, their lives unknown.

Jie Chuan shot at it with the ”spitter,” but the ”horse” was too fast to hit.

The monster turned around and charged at them again, even faster, its pitch-black pupils appearing deep under the starlight.

”Ah!”

Xu Kai gave a loud shout, muscles tensing, raised the machete, and slashed at the ”horse.”

With the sound of bones and flesh colliding, he was sent flying back, and the machete lodged into the horse’s neck, severing several slim tentacles.

The monster seemed to be in pain, roared, and ran off, disappearing into the darkness.

At this moment, Xu Kai was lying on the ground, motionless, covered in blood, his breath weakening.

”Xu Kai, Xu Kai, are you okay?”

Ge Yunhua shouted, bending down to check on Xu Kai.

He picked Xu Kai up and ran outside; even in such a situation, he chose not to abandon Xu Kai.

Jie Chuan glanced at the two and said, ”Follow me, I have a gun; if it comes again, I should be able to hit it.”

As they neared the town gate, they heard the excited neigh of the horse once more, the monster reappearing on the street behind them.

”Run quickly!”

Someone shouted as they scattered to escape.

This thing was like a demon, rushing forward.

Everyone dispersed, fearing to become the target of this ”horse” and meeting death with a collision.

Jie Chuan, holding the spitter, stood on the path of the horse, firing several shots at it.

Purple blood mist exploded from the monster’s body, but its speed didn’t falter until it got close and Jie Chuan hit it once, causing it to slow down and move in another direction.

Jie Chuan felt the cold sweat on his forehead, breathed a sigh of relief, and continued leading the group out, grateful for their luck.

His physical prowess was excellent, and that gun was no ordinary item, but a mysterious item.

As they reached outside town, the rain seemed to pour even more.

Jie Chuan covered one eye, looking into the distance, his eyeball glowing with a faint blue light.

”Wrong direction!”

He shouted, leading the way along the edge of town, running in the opposite direction.

Ge Yunhua realized Jie Chuan wasn’t as simple as he appeared; he suspected Jie Chuan was a player, just hiding his identity.

But that was a good thing; the stronger Jie Chuan’s ability, the higher their chance of survival.

”This direction leads to West Bridge City. We cannot go there, we must turn back. It’s too dangerous over there.”

Jie Chuan explained to himself.

He thought of how these strange scenes all originated from West Bridge City, from that otherworld.

Yet, things often don’t go as planned.

They saw the ’horse’ covered in tentacles once again, standing leisurely on the distant road, watching them.

Jie Chuan’s face twisted into a grim look, fiercely saying, ”It’s targeted us; we have to eliminate it! Otherwise, we’ll all die here.”

This was a topic of despair.

No one felt they could defeat this monster.
