Chapter 512: Chapter 96: Weiluo the Thief

The young man with brown hair and blue eyes glanced at the two corpses on the ground and realized it was true. Su Changxing had just killed two policemen, while he was being escorted as a criminal by the police.

The police should be considered good people, but he himself wasn’t.

”Ha, actually I’m not a good person either, you know about stealing... I stole something, so they caught me. I’m considered a thief or a burglar.” The young man changed his expression and immediately said decisively.

It was the first time he admitted so frankly that he was a thief, which made him feel a bit shy.

Su Changxing wasn’t surprised at all and said blandly:

”Did I ever say I don’t kill bad people? I’m an emotionless killer!”

”Ha?”

The young man looked at Su Changqing’s serious face and awkwardly smiled, saying, ”Actually, I’m just an ordinary person, neither a bad person nor a good one.”

Su Changxing thought this person was interesting and asked with a smile, ”So what did you steal that made these policemen come all the way to find you? I’m quite curious.”

In such an era, ordinary petty thefts were usually ignored unless caught red-handed, like stealing right under a policeman’s nose.

Otherwise, the police would only intervene if it involved a large amount or valuable items, which these matters generally involved the high society.

As for these players, unless there was profit, they wouldn’t bother putting in the effort.

”What did I steal... just some worthless trinket. If it were too expensive, I wouldn’t steal it; stealing it would only cause trouble.”

The young man produced a Ruby Necklace from his hand. It gleamed with dazzling light, and he said:

”Just this thing. I didn’t think it was anything good... I snatched it from the neck of a wealthy lady.”

”Unexpectedly, these policemen went crazy trying to catch me, but I was unlucky and ran into these two policemen.”

”But I didn’t dare give them the item. If I gave it to them, they might as well kill me halfway and take the item back to report.”

It’s a Mysterious Item, and a very special one at that.

[Bloodstained Ruby (B crown, Middle Rank): A beautiful gem, who wouldn’t want it...]

Though it was a High-tier Mysterious Item, it didn’t have much description.

Su Changxing couldn’t see any use for the item either.

The young man noticed Su Changxing staring at the ruby and smiled slightly, immediately saying courteously:

”Ha, big brother, I can’t use this either, how about giving it to you... My name is Weiluo, a thief.”

He was indeed a thief, Tier Eight, a clever Thief Master.

A thief from a single glance.

Su Changxing took the Ruby Necklace and pulled out a Clown Mask from his coat, handing it to Weiluo, saying, ”This is for you. Wear it when you steal things.”

”Ha?”

Weinuo looked surprised at the Clown Mask, a bit puzzled.

Su Changxing smiled and said, ”What, any objections?”

He needed many Jokers to create confusion and mislead. Although information in this world was blocked, the players’ communication was quite frequent.

Weiluo quickly shook his head and said, ”No, no, absolutely not, I might even hug it in my sleep from now on.”

A slippery one.

The two players didn’t drop anything good, but a badge caught Su Changxing’s attention, a silver-white badge imprinted with a knight’s emblem, shining brilliantly.

”Do you know what this is?” Su Changxing asked.

Weiluo glanced at the badge and said, ”It’s a guild badge, Knight Guild, associated with Extraordinary Power, ordinary people wouldn’t interact with it.”

Guild badge?

Su Changxing nodded thoughtfully and said, ”Put on the mask and come with me for a stroll.”

Weiluo hesitated for a moment, then put on the Clown Mask and followed Su Changxing through the roadside forest, very familiar with the stealthy sensation.

······

”We were killed, shot dead in one go, that person must be a strong player, at least over Level Twenty.”

A player dressed in police uniform complained.

The two of them were still somewhat dazed; they were inexplicably killed, right before completing the mission.

”I don’t even know who did it. It’s so despicable. I suspect they’re snatching our mission... a task with quite rich rewards.”

A policeman still holding a rope grumbled, covering his head in anger.

In front of them stood a man in knight armor, exuding extraordinary power, a blonde and the vice president of their guild, a top-tier player.

The blonde man pondered for a moment and said, ”Stay calm, I’ll let someone investigate later, maybe it’s someone from another guild messing with us.”

Chaixi Town, despite being under their guild’s management, was at the border.

This kind of mid-mission hijacking was hated the most, taking others’ hard-earned results for oneself.

Moreover, quite a few players specialized in such trades.

This way, leveling up was the fastest and easiest, with the greatest rewards. Naturally, some players were just keen on doing such things.

These players were generally thrown into the chaos faction, put on a wanted list, hunted by both players and NPCs.

Nobody expected it to be an NPC or a hidden boss doing this because such a thing had never happened before—having a BOSS lurking at the town gate for kills.

Soon after, the blonde man was stunned for a moment, slightly furrowing his brows.

”What’s wrong?” someone beside him asked.

”Just got the news, another one of ours got killed at that spot.” The blonde man said in surprise.

Chaixi Town was a transportation hub; you had to pass through it to reach several major cities, so even at night, there were many people coming and going.

The player holding half a rope confidently said:

”It’s definitely Chen Yong Guild’s doing. They’re so malicious, even finding their way here to ambush us on the road.”

They naturally assumed it was their rival guild acting out of line, thinking players were the only ones who would commit such outrageous acts.

Those NPCs mostly adhered to the rules.

·······

A few gunshots rang out.

A team walking on the distant street fell to the ground in response.

Su Changxing dragged a large sack, handed it to Weiluo, and said, ”Go gather up the valuable stuff... seems like more people are coming over there, I’ll take a look.”

Weiluo looked at the bodies on the ground, smiled, and said:

”Boss, I love this kind of work, love money. I became a thief for money, but is there any share for me here? Even half a share.”

Su Changxing replied a bit testily, ”Hmm? What do you think?”

Then, Weiluo shrugged, smiled, and enthusiastically ran toward the carriage, checking the goods like he was well-practiced.

In one night, Su Changxing had stealthily killed more than twenty players, gaining about a couple of thousand experience points, which was a good harvest.

These players often didn’t even see what he looked like before being killed.

The player forums were in an uproar, with players who got killed condemning the ”player” camping and killing, calling it immoral and not abiding by the rules.

Yet, no one was willing to confront it.

At this moment, Su Changxing was still tirelessly camping and killing when he realized that by late night, no more players were approaching.

”Huh? Have I been discovered?”

He realized it was time to leave and turned back, shouting, ”Weiluo, I’m off, figure it out yourself.”
