Chapter 503: Chapter 87: The Eve of War

A good opportunity... Su Changxing glanced at a wizard far in the distance but chose not to act, feeling a trace of invisible pressure.

At the same time, he received news from Zhu Wenwu, saying that many players had received tasks to flee the city.

This means that the Doomsday Game also thinks they should abandon Donglin City.

However, if they do this, their personnel will certainly scatter, and many ordinary people will die because of it.

There are simply too many monsters surrounding the city for them to survive in this environment.

Everything seems to be reverting to the situation in the Doomsday World.

·······

The night sky lit up, as several towering fireballs streaked across the sky and toward the city, like meteors tracing a beautiful arc.

Su Changxing looked up and saw these fireballs from behind striking Donglin City but did not explode as imagined.

Instead, they vanished quickly close to the city, leaving only faint starlight falling into the black mist.

”Blocked...”

Su Changxing let out a breath as he watched the starlight, knowing he had no way to counter this technique.

The terrifyingly powerful wizard was testing them.

However, if there really is a powerful presence hiding in Donglin, it’s probably the one who threw the Star Spear.

Who is he?

Such a question arose in Su Changxing’s heart, logically, this person should not belong to their world.

A low-tier world cannot produce strong beings, just as diving cannot produce a true dragon.

It’s a simple truth.

Meanwhile.

The other wizards were also shocked, surprised that such a strong being truly existed in this low-tier world.

”Why didn’t he act earlier? We couldn’t even detect his presence.”

A wizard dressed somewhat differently, carrying a giant hammer, wondered.

Council Wizard Richie, looked serious and said:

”I don’t know, but things seem to be developing in the worst direction, yet this seems like some sort of ritual remnant... he might not really be here.”

Various thoughts flashed through his mind.

They were determined to take Donglin City; this was crucial for the war situation, even if it meant a heavy cost, they would carry on.

”In that case, we cannot delay, this is an opportunity!”

Fierce light flashed in his eyes, like countless waves reflecting across the starry sea.

This Council Wizard was decisively intimidating.

Otto looked at his teacher, smiled, and agreed this was indeed the right course of action, nodding:

”Teacher, I felt earlier that the person we met was definitely bluffing, they’re very afraid of us.”

······

[Side Quest (Wizard’s Wrath): Your actions seem to have completely enraged those Otherworld wizards, and they are prepared to attack you immediately. What will you do?

1. Successfully escape. (1,000 Points)

2. Escape successfully with some players. (One Mysterious Item)

3. Show them your might, successfully counterattack them, and send them back home. (One High-tier Mysterious Item, one High-tier Promotion opportunity)]

Immediately, a task notification popped up on the phone.

Su Changxing fell into brief silence, not out of hesitation, but because he had already ordered Lin Xiuyu to organize the evacuation earlier.

They didn’t need to take everyone, just the key personnel—players, soldiers, administrative staff...

He was rational and knew what he should do in his position; knowing it was an unwinnable war, he’d rather find a way to minimize losses.

Like a lizard shedding its tail for survival, they could too.

As long as the enemy didn’t completely destroy this world, they still had a chance, just needing time.

In this world that had just encountered the Extraordinary, enveloped by the Doomsday Game, time was the most precious commodity.

Su Changxing felt their world had great potential, and only with sufficient time they could surpass the other two worlds invading them.

Immediately, he sent a message to Chu Caiming explaining, leading him to evacuate the Chenxi people as well, and Chu Caiming said nothing, his attitude clear.

The Chenxi troops set up in the wilderness beyond the city and advanced toward West Bridge City, forcing Su Changxing to have Lin Xiuyu notify the military to support with ranged fire from the city.

The deep night enveloped the sky, everything became somber, as if a giant lid covered it, a clear sign to the wise that this was a death battle.

Especially those soldiers fleeing from West Bridge City.

Deng Yiming carried his gun following Chen Ling, asking: ”Are we going to wage a decisive battle with those Otherworld beings?”

Chen Ling turned to glance at him, replying: ”Not exactly, the orders we received are that after Chenxi’s defeat, we may... retreat on our own.”

”This is the order given to players, but for you, be prepared, we’re no match for those Otherworld humans.”

Deng Yiming showed a puzzled expression, saying: ”With Leader Su and so many of us, surely we could take them on, there’s no need to give up so soon.”

Chen Ling said expressionlessly: ”Who knows? The order came from Leader Su, we merely execute it... Though you’re not an Extraordinary, you’ve been strengthened several times, so escaping shouldn’t be a problem, just follow me.”

”...And keep this confidential, don’t tell anyone, or chaos will ensue.”

Deng Yiming’s face darkened under his military cap, paused, and said somewhat excitedly:

”Are we planning to abandon everyone else? We shouldn’t do this; we’re soldiers, it’s our duty to protect the people!”

He was a soldier with pure faith, such people weren’t rare in the military.

Chen Ling frowned slightly, patted his shoulder, and said: ”Director Deng, following orders is a soldier’s duty; everything else is secondary... just execute the orders, don’t think of anything else, right and wrong are resolved later.”

”Yes!”

Deng Yiming nodded slightly, saying nothing more, feeling Chen Ling was correct, yet unable to overcome his conscience.

Some things are normal for some, but difficult to accept for others.

In the sound of continuous gunfire, the army set up artillery positions on the outskirts, special forces split into teams in the wilderness, and T3 unfolded itself in a relatively hidden spot...

Next, it’s silently tense waiting, waiting for those wizards to enter their firing range, for mechanized troops are always less flexible.
