Chapter 495: Chapter 80: The Ongoing War

The sun-like luster streaked across the blood-red and pitch-black water surface, rushing straight up to the sky, evaporating the descending rain completely into mist and drifting through the air.

Large, large swathes of corpses floated on the blood-stained sea surface, continuously connected, piling up onto the land.

As the war persisted, even the entire world seemed to begin weeping, feeling pain, lamenting the loss of countless lives.

The two worlds had not even conducted a formal negotiation, yet launched into a brutal war lasting dozens of days.

The Sun Lord led the Black Fog World’s most elite trump card army ”Light Legion,” forcibly killing into this wizard world.

As one side of the battlefield, losses were always more severe.

Clearly, the Wizard World wasn’t adept at this, nor were they an expansionist world.

However, facing endless battles, even with infinite power, the Sun Lord was struggling.

Numerous tentacles appeared out of thin air in the sky to smash or coil around him, while countless spikes shot up from the ground towards him.

A single slash cut through the mist, splitting large stretches of land along the coastline, sinking into the seabed, stirring waves.

Every second, tens of thousands were dying, among them not lacking the most powerful high-tier Extraordinary.

One of the five Wizard Kings of the Wizard World had fallen in battle, and his corpse still hung on the high battle flag of the Light Legion; his eyes remained open, his eyeballs still moving, seemingly not dead, observing the ongoing war.

At this moment, both sides entered a phase of endurance, with no absolute advantage, but each with their own schemes, seeking a decisive move to kill the opponent.

Like a grand game of chess, moving step by step, until the end phase, it’s uncertain who could achieve final victory.

······

After Chu Caiming left.

Su Changxing fell into long contemplation, pondering how Chu Caiming could breakthrough to Tier Seven quickly, yet feeling it seems meaningless.

In his view, if they could stall, that would be best; to stall for as long as possible, as time might bring more changes.

In this world war, neither a victory for Black Fog World nor Wizard World would be good for them; perhaps maintaining the status quo is better.

It would be best for both sides to fight to the death without deciding a victor.

But this possibility is very small.

War is often a game of snowballing, where small advantages accumulate into a mountain overwhelming the opponent.

By midnight, news came from T3 that there were no Ink Stones found near Donglin City, requiring exploration further away.

However, Su Changxing refused, instructing T3 to find ways to produce more self-destructing robots.

The power of self-destructing robots could be more useful, at least enough to threaten Tier Seven Extraordinary.

By noon the next day, Su Changxing was still wandering the edge of the city, continuously sniping monsters, feeling his spirit and physical strength reaching the limit, he hurriedly rushed back.

Lin Xiuyu stood at the base’s gate waiting, wearing a dark green coat, holding a brand-new notebook, writing on it with a pen.

”Leader Su, it’s hard to find you even once.” Lin Xiuyu smiled, teasingly said, a ghostly blue shimmering in his eyes.

His superpower evidently grew stronger, more immense.

Su Changxing looked at him, saying in annoyance: ”Isn’t it me who couldn’t find you? I always feel like you’re avoiding me.”

Lin Xiuyu smiled meaningfully, saying: ”I can predict survival rate, I stay in the safest place, without delaying matters anyway.”

Su Changxing thought for a moment and said: ”You mean being around me is dangerous?”

Lin Xiuyu nodded then shook his head, saying: ”Not exactly, I just feel some danger is searching for me, it’s better to be cautious.”

Su Changxing shifted the topic, saying:

”What do you think of what I said yesterday, that Apocalypse Chenxi said they have informants in West Forest City, which is already completely controlled by the Wizard World.”

Lin Xiuyu took a deep breath, seemingly under great pressure, saying: ”I’m not sure either, mainly we need to understand their main objectives to respond······if worst comes to worst, just run, though it’s not very ethical.”

Su Changxing placed a hand on his shoulder, chuckled: ”Those words coming from you sound so easy.”

Lin Xiuyu seriously said: ”It’s not, actually, many decisions from the Security Bureau are like this; to abandon decisively when necessary; it’s all a balance of interests.”

”From a chess player’s perspective, it’s about sacrificing the rook to protect the king; it’s the time most devoid of sentiments, though we shouldn’t be at that point yet.”

His attitude appeared calm, without additional emotional fluctuations from such news, like a weathered chess player.

”Hmm, makes sense.”

Su Changxing nodded and then said: ”I heard a lot of people died again in the third gathering point, was it Doomsday Cult people?”

Lin Xiuyu shook his head: ”I’m not sure, it seems some presence is slaughtering under the guise of Doomsday Cult name; we found no clues.”

”I wonder if some monsters from the Blood Moon followed us here······”

After consecutive days of observation, he arrived at this guess, naturally thinking of the Blood Moon.

”Monsters from the Blood Moon?”

Su Changxing frowned slightly, recalling a strange rabbit head they encountered before, seemingly related to the Blood Moon, but there was no follow-up.

That murder incident undoubtedly was done by Doomsday Cult people.

While Doomsday Cult had been suppressed to an extent they couldn’t lift their heads, the massacre continued, as if the two weren’t connected.

Su Changxing hesitated, saying: ”Did you do personnel checks?”

Lin Xiuyu took out his notebook: ”Didn’t plan to, but the impact is too great now, we are doing it, yet no suspicious individuals found yet, except······”

”Except?”

Su Changxing raised his eyebrows.

Lin Xiuyu said softly:

”Chang Yi’s family seems to be always nearby or at the scene every time, though we found no anomalies, it seems coincidental, yet if it’s merely coincidental, it’s odd.”

Su Changxing thought and said: ”Hmm, so they might be hidden Doomsday Cultists; where are they?”

According to their information, Ma Xuekai and a group of Doomsday Cultists left the main city, heading elsewhere.

Yet the Doomsday Cultists are mixed, some even unaware they’re cultists, just having an attached task system.

Lin Xiuyu gestured to a building nearby, saying: ”I’ve already invited them over, for supervision, Chang Yi is there.”
