Chapter 468: Chapter 54: The Rain Keeps Falling

The rain with a salty, fishy taste fell from the sky, dissolving the rolling black mist and creating pits in the ground.

Su Changxing reacted quickly, holding Shen Jinxuan as he ran inside. The rain didn’t affect him much, but his clothes were punctured, leaving red spots on his skin.

His powerful self-healing ability made these red spots disappear quickly.

For ordinary people, however, this rain was deadly. Getting hit by a single drop would create a bloody hole.

Ordinary people wouldn’t survive two seconds in this rain!

Su Changxing made his way down to the next level. The glass platform above was cracked by the rain, but the material’s resilience was good. Despite the cracks, it didn’t collapse.

”What’s happening?”

Shen Jinxuan woke up from a dream and saw Su Changxing holding her while running down the stairs.

Some vivid images flashed intermittently in her mind. She originally thought it was a dream, but now it seemed otherwise.

Su Changxing glanced at her and calmly said, ”It seems this building is about to collapse, so we need to go down.”

The constant pounding sound from outside was like countless rocks hitting the glass and walls heavily.

Shen Jinxuan looked sideways and saw that the glass curtain wall outside the building was full of cracks. She could also feel the whole building shaking violently.

What’s going on?

She was dumbfounded. The rain was actually about to bring down the building: ”This is too exaggerated... Am I dreaming?”

Su Changxing twitched his mouth and said, ”Maybe.”

”······”

Shen Jinxuan was silent for a while and realized that this was indeed not a dream.

At this moment.

They had reached the first floor, seeing outside that the ground was full of various sizes of pits made by the rain.

A skeleton in armor on the street was being shattered by the rain, its bones scattered and gradually crushed.

One could imagine what would happen to a living person standing there.

Su Changxing felt the building shaking more violently and rushed towards the hotel across the street, carrying Shen Jinxuan.

Staying here held the risk of being buried alive by the building, making things more troublesome.

Zhen Qi Yi and others were standing at the hotel entrance, looking over.

”Leader Su, are you okay?”

Zhen Qi Yi saw Su Changxing running in and quickly came up to ask.

Su Changxing was drenched in seawater, his clothes completely torn, and his exposed upper body was full of red spots, like mosquito bites.

”I’m fine. How about you guys?”

Su Changxing put Shen Jinxuan down, took a light-colored T-shirt from his backpack, and put it on.

Zhen Qi Yi looked relieved and said, ”Luckily, we were all inside, and no one got hurt.”

Shen Jinxuan looked at Su Changxing’s body in amazement and said, ”You actually aren’t injured; that’s incredible.”

Su Changxing glanced at her and said, ”So, do you know who I am?”

Shen Jinxuan was silent for a moment, somewhat uncertainly said, ”Su...Changxing?”

Such a name appeared in her mind.

Su Changxing smiled and nodded, ”Yes, nice to meet you again, Miss Reporter.”

Shen Jinxuan pondered for a moment, wondering if this title was a bit odd, but it didn’t seem important.

Dissociative identity disorder... she realized she might have such symptoms, otherwise, she couldn’t explain why she suddenly woke up in a different place or knew the man in front of her.

”If that’s the case, am I the primary personality or a split personality?”

”I used to have sleeping sickness, could this be dissociative identity disorder misdiagnosed by the doctor?”

”I’ve been to another world... full of zombies... Doomsday Game?”

······

Su Changxing noticed Shen Jinxuan began to habitually daydream again. He coughed, looked around at everyone, and said:

”The rain won’t stop for a while. Let’s wait here. This building should hold up and should be okay for now.”

Just as he finished speaking.

A tremendous crashing sound came from outside, a piece of glass curtain wall fell from above and shattered upon impact with the ground.

”······”

The group listened to the scattered crashing sounds from outside, staring wide-eyed at each other.

Su Changxing was silent for a moment, then said again, ”Hmm, don’t worry; this structure should be more stable than that high-rise.”

Just as he finished speaking.

There was a commotion upstairs, like something collapsed onto the floor.

”······”

Su Changxing once more fell silent, muttering: ”Let’s wait.”

The rain continued to fall incessantly.

Even by noon, it showed no sign of stopping. The top floor of the hotel totally collapsed, leaving a pile of rubble on the street.

”This building might not last until tonight.”

Shen Jinxuan said, holding a self-heating hotpot and looking at the pockmarked ground outside.

Su Changxing leaned back on his chair, looking at the shabby hardcover book in his hand, calmly stating:

”This situation is alright. Most of the remaining Gladiators shouldn’t be running around.”

He picked up his phone and checked, finding that the task hadn’t been settled yet... which means there might be variables.

The energy density in the environment continued to rise, but Su Changxing judged that other places shouldn’t be like this, only here because of the death match.

There was still no news from Baldy, unknown if he’s dead or avoiding him due to unforeseen events, worried he’d turn on him.

Such thoughts were understandable; none of them were gentlemen, nor was there any trust.

However, Su Changxing had no intention of killing him since the other had helped him a lot, providing much crucial information. Killing him would make him feel a bit guilty.

”What’s the use of this phone?”

Shen Jinxuan asked, looking at the black-screened phone in her hand.

Su Changxing thought for a while and said, ”You lost your player status, so you can’t use the phone for now.”

”How does one get status?” Shen Jinxuan asked.

Su Changxing looked up at her and said, ”You probably need to become an Extraordinary.”

”Extraordinary?”

Curiosity showed on Shen Jinxuan’s face as she asked, ”You are an Extraordinary, right? Do I have a chance to become one?”

Su Changxing pondered and said, ”You can try. I’ll enhance you tonight.”

He paused and said, ”Hmm, unless the rain doesn’t stop, it might not work... I also have some specialties here, canned food brought from over there. Zhen Qi Yi, do you want some?”

Sitting on the other side, Zhen Qi Yi wiped the red oil from his mouth with a napkin, smiling sheepishly: ”Haha, Leader, there’s no need. I’m allergic to canned food and biscuits now. I’d rather not eat them.”

”I see there are still many fresh ingredients in the hotel; later, I’ll cook something... My family has been chefs for three generations. My dad said to learn from outside things, so I went abroad to study western cuisine.”

Su Changxing nodded and said, ”Did you learn it?”

Zhen Qi Yi shrugged and boldly said:

”No, I dropped out. I felt that stuff wasn’t as good as our ancestors’ things. And just as I came back, I encountered the apocalypse. In retrospect, dropping out was the right decision.”

Listening to this, Zhen Qi Yi seemed to have had some dumb luck... Su Changxing chuckled and said, ”Alright, let me taste your cooking tonight, if this building can hold up.”

Zhen Qi Yi then said, ”That guy named Sha Wenbo is an architect. He seems to have been involved in building the Window of this city. He estimates this building should last until tomorrow.”
