······

On the phone, a flood of messages appeared as various announcements from the doomsday game flooded the forums.

What is the Gate of Origin?

Su Changxing realized that the purpose of the Doomsday Cult was clearer than he had imagined. They were intent on opening the so-called ”Gate of Origin,” and had been prepared all along, waiting only for a perfect moment.

As the red glow descended, the sky brightened, and even through the thick Darkness, the starry sky was visible.

A long Galaxy hung in the sky, clearly visible.

It was an unprecedented sight, as if the whole planet had shifted locations. Gradually, the surroundings returned to calm, reverting to their original state—a silent Darkness.

”What happened?” Zhu Wenwu showed a bewildered expression.

A massive, bronze door appeared high in the sky, seemingly unreachable, yet clearly visible to them.

[Gate of Origin: An ancient existence, it has always been here, just revealed. Its function is to connect and ignite.

When it is hidden, the whole world is concealed and in a closed state; when revealed, the whole world is exposed.]

”So, it’s a protective mechanism, but it was forcibly triggered by the Doomsday Cult?”

Su Changxing raised an eyebrow, realizing what a mess the Doomsday Cult had created.

The Black Fog World could discover them, perhaps by chance or perhaps inevitably, but it wasn’t yet at the point of destroying them.

However, this move by the Doomsday Cult undoubtedly maximized the variable, fully activating the doomsday game. In other words, although they had many restrictions before, they were still in a beginner protection period, generally safe.

But now, that was uncertain. They were without concealment or protection, completely exposed to numerous perspectives.

This was a very bad thing.

He felt as if he could sense countless eyes in the void watching them, either curious or greedy.

······

A small boy in white, wearing an ancient jade pendant on his chest, squatted in the street, looking at the bronze door in the sky, showing a regretful expression:

”This is destiny, isn’t it~”

”You should really come back now.”

”I seem to have waited long enough, it’s time to return.”

Scales with a green sheen appeared on his face, and his pupils turned into reddish-brown vertical slits, cold and wild.

He remembered a time when the world was not so calm, once vast and magnificent, now like a small dark room with no light coming in, but also safe.

He knew this safety was fleeting, meaningless, a compromise by yielding, but sometimes compromise was all there was—helplessness, nothing but helplessness.

·····

Opening his eyes, he leaped into the sky, looking at the Bronze Gate within reach, and cursed:

”Hiss~ tricked again, greedy bastards!”

A figure suffused with starlight stood before the Gate of Origin, seeing a colossal entity approaching, an ethereal presence, transitioning from imagination to reality, breaking the boundary.

He raised his fist and blasted toward the Bronze Giant Gate, a fist formed of stars pierced the Gate of Origin.

The next moment, he was pulled inside by an invisible hand.

······

Su Changxing was momentarily stunned; although it was brief, he happened to see this scene—a person punched the door but was absorbed by it.

Plus, he had a premonition that the person was the one who threw the Star Giant Spear. Indeed, there were stronger existences in their world.

But why did he remain hidden?

”What should we do now?” Zhou An asked in confusion.

Su Changxing took a deep breath and said, ”First, count the death toll, then announce this news to everyone, and designate the Doomsday Cult as a cult, a key target for action.”

The population in settlement number one was not small, with tens of thousands, although not as many as other settlements, consisting mostly of elite members of society.

This place was more heavily guarded, but no one expected such an event to occur.

The Doomsday Cult had become a target of universal hostility for staging such a terrorist event, which terrified everyone, including players.

Forums buzzed with dense discussions about the event, referring to it as the ”Wrath of the Giant Gate,” as if the giant gate in the sky devoured the humans and creatures in this area.

The key was that players realized that seemingly no player had died in this incident, only ordinary people; even if there were, they were very few.

With these revelations, some players felt less antagonistic towards the Doomsday Cult, believing those cultists weren’t targeting them, thus the problem wasn’t significant.

Yet another group of players voiced stronger condemnation, having families, friends, many of whom were ordinary people threatened by the Doomsday Cult.

Su Changxing didn’t think much, only feeling anger as the Doomsday Cult’s actions were utterly beyond his control, failing to adhere to rules, believing the best course was to eliminate them entirely.

But was it really that simple? Previously captured cultist Chen Shen inexplicably vanished from his cell.

Bound with special chains suppressing the Extraordinary’s Ability, he still escaped, with no signs of damage to locks and doors, as if he vanished into thin air.

”Before that, I saw him right there, but in the blink of an eye, he disappeared.”

The prison guard said with a face of horror, encountering such a situation for the first time in all his years of service, as if he’d seen a ghost.

He felt as if he was guarding a group of monsters, with life-threatening danger all around, like a rabbit guarding a caged lion.

Zhu Wenwu reassured him, ”It’s okay, it’s not your fault. Go rest, have something to eat, drink, get some sleep.”

The prison guard nodded quickly, turning away as if fleeing, clearly shaken.

Zhang Shun blinked and said, ”Ha, how did he escape, some Mysterious Item?”

Zhu Wenwu shook his head, ”Probably not, we checked before; someone might have rescued him, or he truly vanished into thin air?”

He couldn’t figure out how the other party escaped, planning to let Su Changxing look into it later.
