Chapter 455: Chapter 41: Bait

Su Changxing quickly left the scene, hid in an abandoned office building, leaned against a black chair, and quietly waited for his injuries to heal in the darkness.

In the distance, the sound of gunfire gradually became sparse, but it still erupted occasionally.

The number on the Iron Token changed to ”89,” which meant that his ranking in the death match had reached the top hundred.

”What’s the situation?”

Su Changxing looked at the crawling robot beside him, which was only the size of a spider, and asked.

The crawling robot mechanically replied, ”Enemy reinforcements have arrived, and 73 robots have already been destroyed.”

The battle over there was not optimistic, and almost half of the robots were destroyed. Whether Deng Yiming and others were still alive was still unknown.

From the coin came the voice of the bald man.

”Did you kill... kill that young master from the Naga clan?”

His name was Hu Lun, originally a Law Enforcement Officer in the Black Fog World. He had committed a crime, gone to a military court, been sentenced to slavery, and joined the death match.

This was both good and bad news.

Normally, a slave could never turn things around in their lifetime, but by joining the death match, one might gain freedom, though it often meant death.

Su Changxing leaned back on the chair, closed his eyes, and said indifferently, ”Hmm, what’s the matter, is there a problem?”

The bald man took a deep breath and said, ”Of course, there’s a problem. The Naga clan has significant influence and can speak even in the meetings.”

”But he was just here to earn some points. We gladiators don’t provoke him, and he won’t bother us.”

”But how did you kill him? These nobles are usually protected when they enter the death match, and no one has died over the years.”

Su Changxing raised his eyebrows and said irritably, ”How else, I shot him... what will happen after killing?”

The bald man was silent for a while and said, ”I don’t know... but one thing I can be sure of is that your odds have definitely increased significantly.”

”Does this matter?” Su Changxing asked.

The bald man said confidently, ”At least it means you won’t have problems before the death match ends, but the Naga will definitely seek revenge later... I’ve heard the ’Black Gold Mage’ is nearby. She was a top-level war criminal.”

Su Changxing thought about it and said, ”Do you know what her ability is?”

The bald man took a breath and said in detail, ”It’s said that his position was passed down from another world, gaining the power of a traditional mage, capable of performing various abilities... If possible, I advise you to avoid him. His strength is definitely in the top ten of the gladiatorial slaves, and he’s just here to pass through... though a top-level war criminal.”

”Hmm, I’ll locate him.”

Having said that, Su Changxing turned off the coin and fell into deep thought. He understood that strength was the only hard truth at any time, and facing these experienced Extraordinaries, he seemed very immature.

If it weren’t for relying on the elder’s carelessness, he might have lost.

”Hmm, what needs to be killed should be killed.”

He pondered for a while, feeling that this so-called ”Black Gold Mage” would be much stronger than the elder. The elder should be the top player in this game, or he wouldn’t have acted as a protector.

...

The man carrying the giant sword’s eyes fluctuated slightly; he hadn’t expected Su Changxing to unleash such power, revealing a smile, ”Seems my winning odds have increased a bit, and from the current outlook, entering the top ten is not difficult for him.”

”As expected of you, how did you see it?”

The person sitting next to him showed a trace of confusion, not understanding why the other person recognized this native at a glance:

”However, this seems to be the third son of the Naga clan. If he dies like this, they probably won’t let it go easily. Is this part of the gamble?”

The man with the giant sword nodded and said, ”Yes, as long as you don’t interfere, it counts. This thing of yours is inherently unfair.”

...

The day had not yet dawned.

Su Changxing, carrying a sniper rifle and wrapped in a Shadow Cloak, traversed the street to the position from yesterday, where the street was in shambles, with numerous corpses and destroyed robots.

Deng Yiming, with more than a dozen people and a few scattered robots, ran out of a nearby alley: ”Leader Su, luckily you’re okay.”

Su Changxing glanced at him and asked, ”What’s the situation?”

Deng Yiming exhaled and said, ”We barely won. Fortunately, Captain Chen came to support later.”

”Captain Chen?”

”Yes, Captain Chen Ling, he said he knows you.”

Su Changxing was stunned, understanding that Chen Ling hadn’t died in the No-Man’s Land and survived, looking like he had become an Extraordinary.

He followed Deng Yiming to the back of a department store, where a large number of people were gathered, including police officers, civilians, and soldiers.

It was imaginable that if yesterday’s battle had failed, everyone here might have died.

Chen Ling, with short hair tied at the back of his head and carrying a longsword, walked towards them. Seeing Su Changxing, he laughed:

”I was just wondering who Team 17’s leader was; I didn’t expect it to really be you, Leader Su. Luckily, you handled those two people upstairs yesterday; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.”

Su Changxing looked at him and laughed, ”I thought you had died in the No-Man’s Land.”

Chen Ling’s expression moved, and he said, ”I was saved by a monkey. It seems to have something to do with you.”

”A zombie monkey?”

Su Changxing didn’t expect such a thing to happen, the Monkey King he thought lost saved Chen Ling.

Chen Ling nodded and said, ”Yes, but it disappeared into the darkness at last.”

Su Changxing didn’t think much of it and changed the subject, ”What’s the situation now, how many of you are left here?”

Chen Ling shook his head, his expression grave, ”As it stands now, we may have lost more than half. These people from the Black Fog World are too crazy, killing just for the sake of killing.”

Su Changxing pondered for a moment and said, ”If possible, you better take them and leave here, head to the East Forest, staying here leads to certain death.”

Chen Ling widened his eyes and questioned, ”Leave here, what about the others?”

Su Changxing stared at him, calmly saying, ”Leave it to fate. There are too many from the Black Fog World, and every one of them is an Extraordinary. We simply can’t handle them... let whoever can survive, survive.”

Chen Ling was silent for a moment and asked, ”Is this an order?”

”Of course.”

Su Changxing looked around at the people, continuing, ”But I won’t leave for now.”

”What do you intend to do?” Chen Ling asked.

Su Changxing smiled and said, ”Of course, find a way to take them down. We can’t give up entirely; after all, there are so many people in this city, it’d be a shame if they all died.”

Chen Ling examined the familiar yet unfamiliar man in front of him, somberly saying, ”Then we have no reason to leave. Either we all retreat, or fight to the death.”

Su Changxing glanced at Chen Ling, pulling him into a room in the corner, and sat down before seriously whispering:

”Leaving won’t be so easy for you guys... actually, you’re kind of bait. You can draw their attention and create survival space for others. Most importantly, I need them to gather together.”

Chen Ling looked at Su Changxing in shock, hadn’t expected such a crazy idea, to use so many of them as bait.
