Chapter 483: Chapter 69: Rabbit Head

[Demon Hunter: Tier Nine, Upper Rank, extremely strong perception, particularly sensitive to filth and chaos, can mark enemies, forming a dueling dagger.]

It’s still the same position, but with some differences, previously it was more extreme.

Previously, once Zhu Wenwu’s dueling dagger marked someone, it was a fight to the death — kill the enemy, or die yourself.

But now it seems to lack this effect.

Su Changxing did not dwell on this issue, turned to look at a nearby building, and said:

”How’s the situation? Are they from the Doomsday Cult?”

Zhu Wenwu thought for a moment and hesitated, ”Probably not, looks like a revenge killing under the guise of the Doomsday Cult... Four people died, all stabbed through the heart with a blade.”

”The killer must have had a grudge with the deceased before the end times, got the power, and came for revenge. Do we still need to handle it?”

Their energy was limited, just dealing with the monsters in the black mist had already exhausted Team Seventeen, trivial matters like these shouldn’t require their attention.

”If it’s not the Doomsday Cult, leave it to the police... I still want to go up and take a look.” Su Changxing nodded and said.

Zhu Wenwu smiled kindly at Jin, who seemed unsurprised by the way Shen Jinxuan was, and said, ”I’ll go too.”

The bodies hadn’t been dealt with yet; as soon as they entered, they saw bloodstains and a body lying by the door, which appeared to be a young and beautiful woman.

There was a hole made by a blade in the wall.

”She was trying to run away when the killer stabbed her from behind through the chest, pinning her to the wall. The killer’s power is immense.” Zhu Wenwu spoke smoothly.

Su Changxing nodded, ”Yes, very precise. They either used a knife for many years or have exchanged relevant skills in a shop.”

”Of course, most likely the latter, which means they’re probably a Player too... but we shouldn’t rule out them being a member of the Doomsday Cult.”

Zhu Wenwu hesitated and said, ”It’s possible, but in the recent massacres the Doomsday Cult has been concocting, they always leave behind bloody runes.”

”Indeed.”

They walked around the entire building but didn’t find anything special.

At this moment, Jin squatted on the sofa, tilting her head, and pointed below the black-screened TV, saying, ”There’s a rabbit head there.”

Su Changxing went over, bent down, and saw a rabbit doll’s head, with red eyes, the lower body torn apart. It looked similar to the rabbit they hunted last night, or one could say it was made from the same mold.

He was startled, sensing there must be some subtle connection; otherwise, it shouldn’t be such a coincidence.

Red-eyed rabbit?

Su Changxing held the rabbit doll head in his hand, observing it, and felt his scalp tingle slightly inadvertently.

[Shattered Rabbit Doll: It’s watching you...]

Zhu Wenwu looked surprised and asked, ”Is it a doll, or what?”

Feeling the object was peculiar, Su Changxing tossed it into the air, summoned an Evil Spirit to devour it, and severed his connection with the Evil Spirit.

The next moment, the Evil Spirit’s body turned red, and its size suddenly expanded, its head shaped like a rabbit’s head.

”Boom~”

Su Changxing drew his gun and shattered it, piercing a large hole through the wall, letting dim light from outside stream in.

”What the hell is this thing?”

He was a bit puzzled, feeling like he almost got caught up in something.

Several members of the Security Bureau rushed in, asking, ”Team Leader, what happened?”

Su Changxing looked around and said, ”Everyone back out for now. Let’s seal this place off first.”

He even suspected the killer might not be human, as the aura the Evil Spirit released was too twisted, fully revealing the true form of the rabbit head.

A large hole suddenly appeared in the wall, causing quite a commotion. Most people around knew about it, but not what exactly happened.

······

In a closed room, books filled the shelves, covered with a thin layer of dust, as if untouched for a long time.

A middle-aged man, with short hair and short sleeves, looking competent, angrily rebuked:

”What are you doing! I only told you to warn him, not to kill him. Now the Security Bureau will surely suspect us.”

Sitting opposite him was someone wearing a white mask with red patterns, tall and slim, elegantly leaning back in their chair.

”Mayor, it’s not our fault. You said if he disagreed, to give him a warning.”

The White Mask sighed, imitating the mayor’s tone.

Yuan Yingjie was instantly furious, continuing to rebuke:

”You fools, don’t you understand the principle of extremes leading to backlash? Such radical actions will draw significant attention from the Security Bureau, and they’re already onto you... Didn’t you say that team leader was very powerful, and you couldn’t deal with them?”

He felt very resentful, believing these low-lives only had luck on their side, gaining powerful forces that allowed them to negotiate face-to-face.

The White Mask stared at Yuan Yingjie, as if smiling, then calmly said:

”Mayor, do you really understand the principle of extremes leading to backlash? Those who do not adapt to the times will be eliminated. In other words, new things always outperform old things; they are more vibrant, better at adapting to the environment.”

Yuan Yingjie calmed down immediately, squinting his eyes, speaking in a softer tone:

”What do you mean? I only need you to stop doing outrageous things, or else, don’t blame me for being unkind.”

As he spoke, he held a brand new silver shotgun in his hand.

The White Mask shook his head, laughed, and said, ”Mayor, don’t be nervous. We’re only mutually beneficial. Our methods, though extreme, are very effective.”

Yuan Yingjie snorted coldly and said, ”Later, I’ll talk with Commander Tan, but you better find a way to make me an Extraordinary soon, or our cooperation can’t continue.”

”Don’t worry~ It’s difficult, but not impossible for us. It’s just opportunities are scarce.” The White Mask said casually.

Outside the room were dozens of armed bodyguards, peering through the glass at the situation inside. Their orders were to rush in and take down the White Mask if anything went awry.

They were also tense, but fortunately, nothing unexpected happened.

”You really think these things are useful to me.”

The White Mask turned his head to look outside the door and said indifferently, with a very relaxed tone.

Yuan Yingjie said in a deep voice, ”Whether they’re useful or not, only a test will tell.”
