Global Game: I Have Portable Store

Chapter 276: Chapter 275: The Dead Man

Su Changxing made his way to the detention area where Wang Haisheng was staying. As he entered, he saw Wang Haisheng being pinned to the ground, struggling continually, and letting out growling sounds.

”His skin is showing more noticeable keratinization.”

Huang Biao observed Wang Haisheng’s condition, his eyes trembling slightly:

”The speed of the transformation is astonishing. If this continues, it might not be long before he completely turns into a zombie.”

Su Changxing squatted down, pulled open Wang Haisheng’s eyelids with one hand, revealing eyes filled with crimson blood vessels and devoid of any spirit.

”Do we need to kill him?”

The man holding down Wang Haisheng looked up and asked, his eyes flickering with indifference.

In his eyes, Wang Haisheng could no longer be considered human, so killing him wouldn’t be much of an issue.

Su Changxing thought about it for a moment and said, ”I’ve said that I won’t kill him until he turns into a zombie.”

Before long, Wang Haisheng calmed down. His eyes even showed signs of dehydration, fearfully asking:

”Am I turning into a zombie······”

Su Changxing stared at him, speaking slowly:

”I don’t know, probably not that quickly, at least not for another one or two days.”

Wang Haisheng sighed in despair: ”Kill me, I’m probably beyond saving, and I don’t want to turn into a zombie. It feels like dying is better.”

The speed of Wang Haisheng’s transformation was so fast that he didn’t even anticipate it himself.

Su Changxing sensed Wang Haisheng’s pessimism and understood but still said:

”I have a vial of potion here that might be useful; you can give it a try and make one last effort.”

Earlier, he had acquired a few vials from the Lady of the House, which seemed to be potions against transformation, although they were failed products, and he didn’t know if they would work.

Wang Haisheng could serve as a test subject, his last hope.

”A potion to stop the transformation?”

Wang Haisheng was stunned for a moment, finding it hard to believe that even if such a potion existed, it would be given to him.

Su Changxing took out a bottle of dark red potion from his backpack and said:

”Don’t get your hopes too high. This thing might not work, and it could have severe side effects, possibly even leading to your death······think carefully about whether you want to use it.”

Under the dim candlelight, the potion appeared especially dazzling and beautiful, with some transparent flocculent substance flowing within it.

Wang Haisheng stared at the potion, swallowed a mouthful of saliva, and decisively said:

”I have no problem. Even if the success rate is one in a thousand, I’ll try it.”

Without this potion, his chance of survival was definitely less than one in a thousand.

Su Changxing estimated that the potion would likely have some effect. It should be a potion left by Shield Company before the apocalypse, and Shield Company did seem to have potions against transformation.

If Wang Haisheng survived with the potion, it would naturally be good, not only confirming that the potion indeed had an effect against transformation, but they could also gain an Extraordinary.

If Wang Haisheng failed, they wouldn’t gain but wouldn’t lose either, just losing an unknown potion and a person about to transform.

Huang Biao was stunned, staring at the potion with a surprised expression, not expecting Su Changxing to have such an item. In this world, such things that could stop transformations were invaluable and would drive countless people crazy if posted on a forum.

The pressure of transformation had already stretched everyone’s nerves to the limit. Anyone could fall prey, and falling prey meant inevitably becoming a zombie.

”Drink it.”

Su Changxing handed over the potion, encouragingly said.

At this moment, he seemed like a scientist conducting a human experiment, with a rational undertone, using Wang Haisheng as an excuse to test the potion’s effects.

There weren’t many people in the room, just four or five, including Wang Haisheng. They all watched as Wang Haisheng slowly drank the potion.

A slightly viscous potion wetted his dry lips.

”Ah!!”

Wang Haisheng suddenly let out a scream, collapsed to the ground, and rolled around, drooling, feeling as if he’d swallowed a can of lava that burned his insides.

Su Changxing pressed him to the ground with one hand, keeping him from moving.

Wang Haisheng could only scream in agony, his eyes completely turning into the same blood-red color as a zombie’s, his strength gradually increasing, becoming violent.

Did the potion accelerate Wang Haisheng’s transformation into a zombie?

Su Changxing also felt Wang Haisheng’s life force rapidly growing, with the aura of an Extraordinary, but it quickly weakened, eventually became calm, forming a straight line.

Soon after, Wang Haisheng’s face turned ashen, lying motionless on the ground.

”He’s dead.”

Su Changxing stood up and said blandly: ”This might be our first person to die from transformation.”

The few people in the room were somewhat silent, as if they had just experienced a huge failure.

Huang Biao waved and said: ”Drag him down for burial.”

Wang Haisheng didn’t survive. Not everyone has Xu Wenfeng’s luck.

Exiting the door.

A dry thunder rang out again from afar, spreading across half the sky, rumbling thunderously, not too loud but very clear.

This was the second time thunder had sounded.

”Gather people, get ready to depart.”

Su Changxing looked up at the dry lightning in the sky and said.

It was close to midnight.

It was just the right time. They were about to set out with nearly half of the people from the settlement, divided into over twenty squads, departing from different routes.

Each squad was assigned predefined routes, passing by different Mysterious Shops.

Their purpose tonight was to harvest the Mysterious Shops in this area, allowing more people to gain enhancements.

However, they didn’t know the location of every Mysterious Shop, and Su Changxing’s perception range was limited; he needed to mark the locations of the remaining Mysterious Shops.

Walking downstairs, Zhu Xin Xue was already fully armed at the stairwell, wearing a gray leather armor and holding a short sword in hand, matching her well.

She saw Su Changxing, her eyes brightened, and she stepped forward, saying: ”Master, when are we setting out? I’m ready.”

Su Changxing smiled and said: ”You’re not coming with me; you’re still gonna follow the team led by your brother.”

Zhu Xin Xue was stunned and said: ”Ha, you’re not coming with us?”

Su Changxing shrugged and said: ”I have more important things to do.”

Zhu Wenwu, at the side with a serious face, said: ”Zhu Xin Xue, stop with the nonsense. Just follow orders.”

Zhu Xin Xue looked at the stern Zhu Wenwu, pouted but said nothing, then turned to Su Changxing:

”Master, you’re being praised as a god now. Shouldn’t you teach me something useful?”

Su Changxing said with some helplessness:

”I’ve already told you before that I can’t teach you much. But once you become Extraordinary, I can still teach you some useful things.”

Zhu Xin Xue smiled and said: ”Alright, I’ll definitely become Extraordinary.”

In her view, becoming Extraordinary wasn’t difficult, especially since Zhu Wenwu became one.

She definitely could!

Zhu Wenwu said with a bit of irritation: ”Zhu Xin Xue! Just go over and wait, don’t cause trouble here.”

”Okay!”

Zhu Xin Xue reluctantly turned and walked away in the other direction.
