Chapter 292: Chapter 288: Out of Control

After the death of an Extraordinary, there is a high probability of becoming an Evil Spirit, and generally they are not weak, likely because the soul strength of an Extraordinary is higher.

It’s difficult for an Ordinary People to become an Evil Spirit after death, and even if they do, they are not very strong.

Many Extraordinary died here, making it the best place for Su Changxing to summon Evil Spirits.

In a short period of time, he managed to shepherd over forty different Evil Spirits. In a short period of time, he could control so many, but it was not possible to control them for long.

His Spiritual Power was not enough to support long-term control, unable to bear the ”confessions” of numerous Evil Spirits.

However, these Evil Spirits are very useful, they could serve as food for Tao Yi’s Growth, or they could be placed in the pendant to fight and devour each other, growing by themselves, like raising insects, forming a few powerful Evil Spirits.

Zhong Jueqing looked back at the Evil Spirits behind him and pondered:

”In a way, your Ability is truly evil and terrifying... it’s equivalent to enslaving the souls of the deceased.”

”By the way, can dead people enter some kind of reincarnation?”

Su Changxing thought for a moment and said, ”It seems not at the moment, they dissipate if they don’t become an Evil Spirit.”

His Ability basically negated some legendary things, like the Netherworld, the Underworld, etc.

Or does this world not have them?

He was thinking, maybe it’s the same in this world, the absence of an Underworld here doesn’t mean other worlds don’t have one.

”Is that so?”

Zhong Jueqing nodded, thoughtfully: ”Ha, if that’s the case, I would hope to become an Evil Spirit after death, at least I could exist in the world a bit longer.”

Su Changxing found the Security Bureau chief’s thoughts a bit peculiar, reminding him:

”That wouldn’t be you, essentially completely different, it’s something else.”

Zhong Jueqing lit a cigarette and smiled: ”I know, but it still has something to do with me. Hmm, you could say it’s like a son left on the soul.”

A son??

What an odd metaphor.

Su Changxing’s eyes widened, already impressed by this man’s wit, and couldn’t help but mock:

”Do you want a son, or do you not have a son?”

Zhong Jueqing took a deep drag of his cigarette, spoke amidst the smoke: ”My wife passed away many years ago······”

The corpse filled the rubble’s cracks, and in the center, a gigantic figure still sat there quietly, gazing at the sky.

Withered like a ”Giant Infant” body, it stared with dim eyes at the bright sky, heart turned black, like a stone, lifeless.

It bore the ritual’s power for the Lady of the House, and died.

Zhong Jueqing flicked his cigarette ash, watching it dance in the air, he said: ”It’s still smiling... really like a child.”

Su Changxing responded: ”Perhaps it really was a child, but became like this, truly creepy.”

”This dreadful world turns everyone into monsters.”

Indeed.

Everyone in this world seems like a monster, even Su Changxing himself, as Extraordinary themselves are monsters, maybe still carrying human attributes.

”Click~”

A slight sound echoed.

Su Changxing and Zhong Jueqing’s hearts skipped a beat, as if suddenly awakened from a half-asleep state, breaking free from the uncertainty and tension.

A corpse, penetrated by three withered vines, moved.

”He’s not dead?”

Su Changxing stepped back, drawing his revolver on target, simultaneously surrounding Teng Beng’s corpse with several Evil Spirits.

Teng Beng should be dead.

His vital signs were cut off.

So what’s the situation?

Su Changxing realized that Teng Beng left no residual soul, very clean, deceased usually leave residual souls, at least theoretically.

Suddenly.

Teng Beng opened his eyes, tilted his head towards them, his eyes dim yet lucid, creating a dissonant feeling:

”Kid, we seem to be quite fated, how could you encounter this too?”

Su Changxing did not immediately pull the trigger but exchanged a look with Zhong Jueqing, their objective seemed to be achieved in a strange way, capturing a knowledgeable Hunter higher-up alive.

His lips curled into an amused smile, saying: ”You seem not to have foreseen your failure.”

Teng Beng’s face remained expressionless, perhaps because he couldn’t make expressions, he said: ”What in the world is 100% successful, I’m no Prophet, nor a God.”

Though Su Changxing and Teng Beng were enemies, their conversations always held a certain matching familiarity, like naturally compatible individuals.

Su Changxing pondered before saying: ”So, what’s your situation now, shedding the cicada shell?”

Teng Beng exhibited no energy fluctuations, his presence lesser than that of Ordinary People, like an empty shell.

Su Changxing certainly wasn’t scared at all.

Teng Beng seemed to be scrutinizing Su Changxing, saying:

”Just a contingency, not exactly shedding the cicada shell, I’m pretty much dead, this is a last spurt of energy, delaying death.”

”Contingency?”

Zhong Jueqing sneered: ”You’ve already lost and now also fall into our hands.”

Dead or alive, he wouldn’t let Teng Beng go.

Teng Beng looked calmly at Zhong Jueqing: ”Quite the opposite, you all need something from me, what do I, a dead man, care about?”

Zhong Jueqing flicked away the cigarette butt in his hand, saying: ”Not really carefree; you wouldn’t talk so much otherwise.”

Zhong Jueqing’s temper was more intense than expected; whether he always was like this or just in specific situations was unknown.

”Indeed.”

Teng Beng’s eyes appeared greyer, then looking at Su Changxing, saying:

”I’ll be direct, the situation spiraled out of control long ago, both for us and for you.”

”All of this stems from greed, we overestimated human nature, which in reality, is the most unreliable, easily manipulated and shaken.”

”The Powerful Ability Users are the source of greed, they steal Power, the cost based on others.”

”Su Changxing, I talked to you about the Energy Station, because of those Powerful Ability Users, its influence has been Magnified several times over... according to my estimates, a corpse outbreak will erupt densely in a short period, and the process will be short.”

”During this process, Ming Mei’s strength will grow stronger, beyond current comprehension.”

”In reality, even if we don’t die now, we will soon enough, as this world is thoroughly out of control, heading for a true apocalypse.”

Teng Beng’s speech slowed, becoming clearer, his voice deepening, possibly unknown even to him.

Su Changxing quickly filtered through Teng Beng’s words, pondering the truth, smiled: ”Meaning you still have a solution, otherwise talking about it holds no sense.”
