Chapter 253: Chapter 252: Ascension Ritual

Several rays of light shone down from above, and in the dim space, light fragments fluttered like butterflies.

The solemn and orderly chanting echoed in the room.

The girl’s pure eyes looked around at the people in confusion, her dark green coat stained with blood oozing from metal spikes.

The dean, dressed in a black coat, stood in front of the circular platform, holding a tattered, yellowing book, with a kindly smile on his face, he said slowly:

”Your sacrifice is worthwhile, for us, for everyone, for this world. There’s no need to cry, nor any need for sorrow. Everyone has their own path home, and yours is the best.”

The girl’s delicate face showed determination, and she said: ”I know, my sacrifice is worthwhile... but A Tao shouldn’t have died, his abilities were strong.”

A gleam flashed in the dean’s eyes, and he smiled: ”Of course not, yours will fulfill his.”

The darkness in his eyes grew denser, like water flowing within, and the Extraordinary Power within him was magnifying at a terrifying speed.

”Is this ascension?”

Su Changxing observed the scene, realizing that this ritual seemed to be preparing for the fatty’s ascension.

A very special method of ascension.

The process lasted for a long time, the chanting continued, but the light in the surrounding people’s eyes gradually disappeared, as they numbly and repeatedly chanted some passage.

Who knows how much time passed.

The girl’s lips suddenly curved into an intriguing smile, and she said: ”Dean, aren’t you tired yet? I’m already tired.”

The dean’s face showed surprise; according to his estimation, the girl should have already lost her spirituality and become a walking dead by now:

”That’s not right, did something go wrong? Hmm, according to my calculations, there should be no problem.”

He was puzzled and felt troubled; the ritual seemed to have failed, but it wasn’t a big problem, they could try again later since the material hadn’t died yet.

The girl’s smile grew, and her eyes held resolve, saying: ”Of course there’s no problem, it’s just that most of the order was completely reversed; what can evolve, can also devolve.”

As soon as the words fell, abstract runes appeared on her skin, both words and patterns, and screams erupted from those around her.

”It’s you!”

The dean’s face twisted in rage, saying: ”So it was you; I was wondering why the previous rituals all had issues, turns out you tampered with them right under my nose.”

”Zhuang Qingquan, for your own benefit, how many people have you killed? Today is your doomsday.”

A radiant, scorching glow flickered in the girl’s eyes.

Soon after, those who were chanting around her began to bleed from every orifice, yet continued to chant, their voices turning hoarse.

”Just you?”

The dean showed a mocking smile, a grand green light surrounding him, his body turned transparent, he reached out to grab the girl, attempting to kill her and end the ritual.

In the next moment, his actions halted, frozen in place, as the space around him started to distort, and a pale boy dressed in red hospital garb and an old man with graying hair appeared before him.

Seeing these two, the dean cursed aloud: ”Teng Beng, I treated you as a brother, and you betray me. If not for me, would you have survived?”

A sinister aura emanated from him, like black water from the deepest cliff.

”Thank you.”

Teng Beng’s expression remained unchanged as he said: ”Some things can’t be changed, our pursuits are different, and if you continue, you will destroy all our hopes.”

The dean suddenly sat on the ground, laughing wildly: ”Haha, you cannot kill me; wait until the ritual ends, then you’ll meet your end.”

Teng Beng gave him a deep look, and calmly said:

”I know you have turned into a complete monster, ordinary means cannot kill you... Do you think I would do something I wasn’t confident about? You should know me, we were once like brothers... Time changes some things.”

The dean’s face became grave; these people were only ordinary Power Users, but some things weren’t entirely determined by strength.

Moreover, the scope of strength varies greatly; surely a child cannot fight an adult, but what if the child holds a gun?

He restrained the smile on his face and continued: ”Teng Beng, how about this, I leave, and we won’t interfere in each other’s affairs in the future. For the sake of our years of friendship, for the fact that I saved your life.”

”What do you say?”

Teng Beng seemed to manipulate countless threads in his hands, guiding the direction of the ritual:

”The former you could indeed lead us, but power made you lose yourself... Although you cannot be killed, you can be put to eternal rest.”

The boy in the red patient gown lifted his longsword, looked at the girl on the cross, his eyes flashing, with a hint of a tremor in his voice, said:

”Tao Yi, I’m sorry, but this is unavoidable.”

Straightforward words, without a hint of hesitation.

The longsword slashed towards the dean’s neck, the sharp blade slicing through flesh and bone along the lines of the skin, beheading him.

No blood flowed; the dean’s head floated in space, his body remained standing.

The girl gave a sincere smile, and said: ”It’s okay, as long as you survive... if you can still be alive, that would be good, although this world is broken, you remain.”

The boy’s expression grew even more wooden, as if he were lost in thought, continuously wielding his sword, then slicing at the dean’s limbs.

They didn’t have much time, they needed to destroy the dean’s body before Tao Yi’s life ran out, or everything they had done would be in vain.

This was their last chance, the dean had long been capable of advancing to a Powerful Ability User, he just didn’t for the sake of perfection, yet even so, his strength was not weaker than that of the Lady of the House.

Tao Yi clinging to her last bit of sanity, said: ”There’s something wrong with that ritual, after this, no one should be allowed to approach it, use your ability to seal that space.”

······

The ritual wasn’t actually set up by Teng Beng, but by the girl nailed to the cross.

Su Changxing already knew what he had unleashed; was it the director of the hospital?

Or perhaps something that spawned from him.

However, things seemed to deviate from Teng Beng’s expectations, it didn’t attack Su Changxing but left directly.

”So where will it go?”

Su Changxing suddenly stopped removing the metal spikes when he noticed the space on the other side of the circular platform begin to distort.

A silhouette quietly appeared.
