A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 389: Chapter 389: Someone Needs to be Taught a Lesson (5)

But someone wasn’t having it. ”Dad, this is so important, how can you not ask a single question? You may believe Seraphina Sterling, but I don’t! She can’t think she’s just going to get away with this! This is an extremely serious issue. If we let this slide, who knows what other crazy things she’ll do in the future! We absolutely cannot cover for her! She’s still young and can be disciplined. Once she’s older, it’ll be too late! Indulging her like this isn’t loving her—it’s harming her!”

Jasmine Faulkner snatched Seraphina Sterling’s phone. Seeing the contact labeled ’Drill Instructor’, she immediately hit dial.

RING... RING... RING! The living room was eerily silent. Jasmine Faulkner had put the call on speakerphone and cranked the volume to max. ’She wanted everyone to hear this call, to know the stupid thing Seraphina Sterling had done! This way, even if the Old Master wanted to defend Seraphina, he wouldn’t have a single excuse!’

RING... RING... RING! Each ring felt like a hammer blow to the heart. With every tone, the people in the room grew unconsciously tense. The atmosphere in the living room had suddenly become heavy.

”Hello, Seraphina Sterling. How rare, you actually called me! What’s wrong? Wasn’t tattling on me enough? You want to come teach me a lesson yourself? I’m already covered in injuries. That ’master’ of yours is way too fierce. I only trained you for half a month, and he dragged me off to be his personal sparring partner for a week! I’m in the hospital getting injections right now, you know. Even if you came, I couldn’t get out of bed!”

Ethan Thompson’s lips twitched. ’That damn Demon King of Chaos, he hits way too hard! When have I ever been beaten this badly? Black eyes, a bruised lip, my entire body aches, and yet not a single bone is broken—it’s all muscle pain! Terrence Grant is so damn ruthless! When I trained Seraphina Sterling, the most I did was make her stand at attention or do some push-ups! Besides, for her, that was a piece of cake! Did Terrence Grant really need to be so overprotective?! The guy is swamped with work, yet he still found time to come teach me a lesson!’

When Ethan Thompson heard only silence on the other end, he finally sensed something was off. ’He and Seraphina Sterling weren’t friends. At best, they had an instructor-and-cadet relationship, and it wasn’t a very friendly one. She had no reason to call him voluntarily.’

Just as he was about to ask who was on the line, Jasmine Faulkner, who had been stunned by Ethan Thompson’s words, finally came to her senses. ”Hello, are you Seraphina Sterling’s drill instructor? I’m her second aunt. I’d like to ask, did Seraphina Sterling really finish her new cadet military training early? Or did she make some kind of mistake and get kicked out?” Jasmine Faulkner was smarter this time. Instead of asking if he had a cadet named Seraphina, she cut right to the chase.

PFFT—BWAHAHAHA! Ethan Thompson never imagined they’d called him about *this*. It was the most amusing news he’d heard in all his days of recovery. But he was a living example of the saying ”extreme joy begets sorrow.” The booming laughter pulled at his injured lip and the sore muscles in his abdomen, sending a wave of pain through his entire body.

The Sterling family members were baffled. What did that laugh mean? Was the question really so funny? Feeling disrespected, Jasmine Faulkner’s tone instantly turned icy. ”Drill Instructor? Even if you want to laugh, can’t you wait until after you’ve answered my question?”

”Second Aunt, you should calm down. Why are you so quick to anger? Even if you want to fly off the handle, you should at least know who you’re talking to. Throwing a fit like this, without understanding the situation or telling right from wrong, could bring a lot of trouble to the Sterling Family,” Seraphina Sterling’s cool voice chimed in. ’But just from his voice, she could tell Ethan Thompson had been dealt a harsh lesson. Someone had taken revenge on her behalf. Now that was truly good news.’
