A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 374: Chapter 374: Indirect Kiss (6)

”Why wouldn’t I be? Just from the way you handle thank-you gifts, I’m completely confident in your investment firm. How could someone who refuses to be on the losing end possibly mismanage my funds?” Martin Quinn stood up. ”Leo, go handle the paperwork. Throw some money in here. Who knows, Miss Chapman might just make me a killing!”

”Yes, Young Master!”

After finally seeing that heavy hitter off, Nadia Chapman felt she could never, ever deal with someone who had such an overwhelming presence again. ’A few more encounters like that, and I’ll be a goner!’

Before leaving the office, she glanced at the report from her assistant, and her mood instantly soured. Martin Quinn was seriously rich! He’d tossed in a hundred million just like that! ’If that’s all from his personal funds, he has enough money to make anyone green with envy!’ The problem was, she had promised to waive the commission... With Seraphina Sterling’s skills, a hundred-million-dollar investment was bound to make a hefty profit. The commission alone would have been a significant amount. Nadia Chapman’s heart sank. She had to report this to Seraphina Sterling immediately.

Seraphina Sterling was on her way to a meeting when she got a call from Nadia Chapman. She listened to Nadia’s story and was silent for a long time.

”Seraphina, I’m so sorry. I don’t know what’s wrong with that Martin Quinn, if he has a screw loose or something. He actually showed up at the office demanding a thank-you gift! I was backed into a corner; it was the only thing I could do!” Nadia Chapman slumped over her desk, her good mood for the day completely ruined.

”If you’re worried about the company losing money on the commission, don’t be. It’s just for one investment, so consider it a necessary expense. That hundred million in capital is much more helpful to us right now. I do think Martin Quinn is a menace, though,” she said, her soft voice holding a hint of amusement. ”He never does anything without a reason. The way he’s treating you so differently... don’t tell me he’s taken a liking to you? If you can, you should just take one for the team and domesticate that menace. It’ll save the rest of the world from his antics!”

The moment Nadia Chapman heard that, she broke out in goosebumps. ”Martin Quinn? A man like him has seen every kind of woman there is. Why would he possibly be interested in me? I bet he’s just bored out of his mind and using me for entertainment! Besides, that menace is way out of my league. I don’t have what it takes to tame him, so let’s leave that to some other hero! I’m heading to Keystone Technologies now. Other than this, everything else is going smoothly!” With that, Nadia Chapman promptly hung up. But Seraphina Sterling’s speculation was like a small pebble tossed into the calm lake of her heart, sending out faint ripples.

Seraphina Sterling didn’t dwell on it. ’For now, it seems Martin Quinn doesn’t know Nadia works for me, which provides some cover. As long as he doesn’t do anything to harm us, he can be ignored.’

She entered the Stelluna Hotel, where she had arranged to meet Felix Gallagher. When she reached the private room, however, she saw that it wasn’t just Felix Gallagher—Wyatt Gallagher was there too. A flicker of surprise crossed Seraphina Sterling’s eyes, but she quickly masked it. ”Shouldn’t you be at the hospital? What are you doing here? No surgeries today?”

”Shouldn’t you be at school? How do you have time to meet with my father? No military training today?” Wyatt Gallagher countered with a gentle smile, thoughtfully pulling out a chair for her.

Seraphina Sterling paused, slightly taken aback. ’Wyatt Gallagher seems a little different today.’ His tone held a hint of grievance. ’But why? I don’t think I did anything to upset him.’ ”My military training ended early, so I had some free time,” she explained.

”Come now, Seraphina, I must give you a proper toast today. Apex Collections’ original porcelain jewelry is incredibly popular. Across all of Aethelgard, only the Gallagher family’s Jade Pavilion and Apex Collections are selling it! This is a huge deal! If you hadn’t brokered this for us, a great partnership like this might not have come to the Gallagher Family!” As he spoke, Felix Gallagher poured Seraphina Sterling a glass of freshly opened Maotai.
