A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 385: Chapter 385: Someone Needs to Be Taught a Lesson (Part 1)

She hadn’t breathed a word to anyone about finishing her military training early, not even her own mother, so there was no way the rest of the Sterling family could know. ’Who on earth told Grandpa?’

Besides, classes started tomorrow. She had to get back to school today no matter what. Her first class tomorrow was English, and while she didn’t really need to study the language anymore, Aethelgard University was extremely strict about attendance. It wouldn’t look good for a freshman to be late for the very first class.

”Dad, you see? I wasn’t lying! I really did see Seraphina. I thought it was so strange at the time. Shouldn’t she be at school right now? Why would she be running around outside? At first, I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, but now it looks like I wasn’t mistaken. Seraphina really did run away from school!” A brilliant smile bloomed on Jasmine Faulkner’s face.

”Dad, do you think it’s possible Seraphina never even got into Aethelgard University in the first place, and that the acceptance letter was just a forgery? After all, we all know what her grades were like. No matter how much someone changes, they can’t just become a genius overnight! You know, her test scores were always at the bottom of her class! She was miles and miles behind our Maple!”

”I just don’t believe that taking one trip back to her mother’s hometown turned Seraphina into some kind of prodigy. Not only skipping grades but also getting into Aethelgard University! I think Seraphina was afraid of being sent back to the countryside, afraid she’d lose this life of luxury, so she came up with this scheme to please you!”

The more Jasmine Faulkner spoke, the more she convinced herself she was right. ’Seraphina Sterling getting into Aethelgard University has always been a thorn in my side. My daughter is clearly the better student. On what grounds did Seraphina get into Aethelgard University, and why did the Old Man spend so much money buying her a hairpin from an auction as a graduation gift? They’re both children of the Sterling family. My Maple has been seeing doctors, taking medicine, and getting shots, but the Old Man hasn’t shown the slightest bit of concern!’

The more Jasmine Faulkner thought, the more unfair it all seemed. ’And to think, Grandpa even said he’d let Seraphina gain experience at The Sterling Group, but he’s never said a word about that for Maple. They’re both his granddaughters, but he’s so biased! Besides, Owen is managing the company perfectly fine right now. On what grounds should Seraphina go there to ’gain experience’? Girls are meant to be married off eventually. Don’t tell me the Old Man is actually thinking of handing The Sterling Group over to that little brat Seraphina in the future!’

”Dad, if this really is all just a scam cooked up by Seraphina... when you took her to the auction, you already told everyone she got into Aethelgard University. Now that things have turned out like this, if people find out it was all a lie, wouldn’t the Sterling Family be utterly disgraced?”

”Enough! Be quiet! Seraphina isn’t back yet. We’ll find out what’s really going on when she returns! Don’t say another word! Shouldn’t you be with Maple at her psychologist’s appointment around this time?” Walter Sterling, not wanting to listen to Jasmine Faulkner’s nagging, directly changed the subject.

”Aiden is with Maple. The doctor said Maple needs more exposure to the outside world, to be around people more, and to let her adapt slowly. She can’t just stay at home all day. She’ll be fine once she gradually gets used to it!” Speaking of her daughter, a smile finally appeared on Jasmine Faulkner’s face, which had been gloomy for days. Faye Sterling’s physical injuries had all healed, and now her psychological issues were slowly getting better. ’Once my daughter is fully recovered, will I still have to worry about losing to Seraphina Sterling?’

When Walter Sterling heard it was someone from the Faulkner family, he fell silent. The Sterling family’s talents were dwindling these days; he only had two granddaughters. Whether it was the Faulkner, Hale, or Gable families, putting aside the talent of their descendants, they had the Sterling family beat in sheer numbers alone. The thought of this left a sour taste in Walter Sterling’s mouth. He’d finally gotten a clever granddaughter who had managed to get into Aethelgard University on her own merit, yet here she was, loitering outside when she was supposed to be in school. With the situation still unclear, Walter Sterling felt even more uneasy.
