A Warm Marriage After Rebirth

Chapter 359: Chapter 359: Plan Bankrupt (7)

”What’s there to be curious about? You didn’t testify for them, which means you’re smarter than they are. You have a brain, unlike them! But you’re only a *little* bit smarter! The fact that you chose to get involved in this mess in the first place proves you aren’t that clever after all!” Seraphina Sterling didn’t hold back. Evan Shelton hadn’t sided with the counselor because he’d seen the message she sent on his phone. He knew from the very beginning that the counselor’s plan was doomed to fail, so he bailed at the last second. It wasn’t some sudden attack of conscience!

Evan Shelton’s lips twitched, his expression stiffening. ’This girl shouldn’t be in our School of Economics and Management; she belongs in the law school next door. With a silver tongue like that, it’s a waste of talent for her not to become a lawyer!’

”This is Aethel Garden, the last student dorm on campus. We can’t do anything about it. You came late, and the dorms for our school’s female students are already full, so you’ll have to live with students from other schools! The counselor will send any important information to your phone. Military training officially starts tomorrow. Assembly is at six, so don’t be late!” After giving his instructions, Evan Shelton immediately headed back to his school building. ’That was way too close,’ he thought. ’I almost got a demerit. I’ll be a junior next year; getting a demerit on my record right now would be a disaster!’

Seraphina Sterling dragged her suitcase up the stairs at a snail’s pace. ’Good thing my room is on the fourth floor and not the sixth, or this would take forever,’ she thought. ’Being on the fourth floor is great. If I’m ever running late for class, I can just jump down to save time!’ Seraphina was quite satisfied with her floor assignment.

The dorm room was a quad, but since she had arrived late, the other three spots were already taken. Only the outermost bed by the window was left. Silently, Seraphina Sterling began arranging her bedding, putting the little hiccup from registration behind her. ’My university life is about to begin!’

Before Seraphina Sterling had even finished unpacking, a string of complaints reached her ears.

”Daddy, I don’t want to live in the dorm! Just look at how small this closet is! Where am I supposed to put all my clothes and shoes? And look at this bed! It’s just a wooden plank! How am I supposed to sleep on something so hard? I’ll definitely get insomnia! The bathroom is so cramped, there’s no room for my makeup! I don’t want to live here, I want to go home!” Shelby Fenton was used to a life of luxury and couldn’t adapt to the ”low standards” of a university dorm. She had never lived in such a shabby place before, let alone shared such a tiny space with three other people.

”No! You’re the one who chose this university. If it were any other school, you could apply to live off-campus, but this is Aethelgard University. First-year students are not allowed to live off-campus! This was your choice. The conditions here might be a bit poor, so I’ll give you some extra allowance. Just stick it out for one year, and things will be better next year,” Zane Fenton said, his tone firm.

Seeing that going home was impossible, Shelby Fenton decided to find another way to compensate herself. ”In that case, I also want the latest Hermès handbag!”

”Fine! Don’t worry! I’ll have someone deliver it to you tomorrow! But you have to study hard at school. Otherwise, even if you join the company, you won’t be able to accomplish anything!” Zane Fenton doted on his daughter, and as long as her requests weren’t too outrageous, he would always agree.

”Don’t worry! Don’t you know whose daughter I am? A little thing like that is absolutely no problem for me!” Shelby Fenton was completely confident in her own intelligence. Based on her age, she could have been a sophomore, but she had deliberately repeated a year of school just to get into Aethelgard University, which was why she was now a freshman.

After Zane Fenton left, there were three people in the dorm room, including Seraphina Sterling. As she continued to busy herself with her things, another girl spoke up. ”Hi, my name is Yvonne Hollis. It’s nice to meet you! I’m a student at The Conservatory.”
