Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Yu Bao shot Wu Bao a gloating look.

Wu Bao trembled with rage, on the verge of exploding.

However, the Doubling skill was based on proportional size, not the degree of shrinkage.

In other words, the proficiency Yu Bao needed to shrink to Shan Bao’s size was the same as it would be for a larger beast to shrink to Yu Bao’s size. It wasn’t that Yu Bao had to train harder to become smaller; it was simply because Yu Bao was already smaller to begin with...

Su Zhi patted him comfortingly. ”There, there. Look at it this way: when Yu Bao uses Doubling to get bigger, the effect definitely won’t be as good as yours.”

Wu Bao didn’t want to talk.

’Shrinking lets me get close to Shan Bao, but what’s the use of getting bigger? Am I supposed to get close to an Earthquake Beast...?’

”Woof! Woof!”

Besides Doubling, Yu Bao also showed off his brand-new Skill—Magma Force Field!

This was an extension Skill learned on the foundation of the Earth Force Field. Unlike the Earth Force Field, the Magma Force Field could incorporate Flame while controlling sand and dust. This enhanced its sustained damage against enemies while still providing control!

With that said, Yu Bao created a Dual-Element Yellow Earth Wall of Earth and Gold for a demonstration.

Then—the Magma Force Field activated!

A large patch of ground was instantly covered in crimson scorch marks, startling Su Zhi into instinctively pulling back his feet. Even standing outside the Magma Force Field’s range, Su Zhi could feel a blast of hot air wash over him.

The part of the Yellow Earth Wall connected to the ground immediately started to sizzle, a bit like a frying egg.

Next, large chunks of magma erupted from the ground, completely enveloping the Yellow Earth Wall. The previously sturdy wall instantly went soft as if it had sprung a leak, and white smoke billowed from the magma’s surface.

’It really would melt if you got any closer.’

After another moment, the magma slowly receded. The Dual-Element Yellow Earth Wall that had been enveloped was no longer recognizable, leaving only a patch of scorched earth that looked like mud.

As for the Gold Particles mixed within, they had been melted down without a trace. Perhaps a few remained, but they were no longer visible to the naked eye.

Su Zhi said in surprise, ”The power is pretty immense!”

”Woof!” Yu Bao smugly indicated that this was nothing.

’If I encounter an enemy in real combat that I can’t take down with a Strong Attack, I can first find a way to lure them into my Magma Force Field, then use it to bind and roast them.’

’At the same time, I can stab them with Burning Blade! Since they’re all Skills I cast myself, their power won’t be affected.’

’If I can’t pierce them, no problem. I can tie them up first and then slowly stab them.’

’There are even more options. I could add a Giant Fire Pillar for extra roasting, and rotate for even heating~’

Su Zhi pursed his lips. ”Good grief, this is like some beggar’s chicken cooking method...”

”Chirp!” ”Wuu!” Shan Bao and Wu Bao both took a tactical step back, their gazes toward Yu Bao now holding a hint more caution.

These two were heavyweights, their specialty being their uniquely blessed defensive abilities. It was hard for them not to feel that Yu Bao’s ”version update” to the Earth Force Field was aimed specifically at them.

After all, the Fire Element countered both the Gold and Wood Elements. While it would be difficult for Yu Bao to gain an advantage with a Strong Attack, if he resorted to this kind of sustained AOE Magic Damage, they would be in for a world of hurt.

Among Pet Beasts of the same level, it was unlikely any could get the better of Yu Bao when it came to a battle of attrition.

Yu Bao, however, raised his chin and shot the other two ”Baos” a glance.

’This is the will of the reigning Su Zhi Cup champion. You wouldn’t understand!’

Then, Yu Bao demonstrated another one of his Skills—

Under Yu Bao’s control, the crimson Flame receded. Specks of Golden Light swirled and rose around him. Amid the brilliant, flashing light, two small, silver-white spheres gradually took shape and began to circle Yu Bao.

After casting the Skill, Yu Bao curled his lips into a smile.

Su Zhi: ”...That’s it?”

’It has this strange ’Seeking Dao Jade’ vibe, but I don’t see any real power... Don’t tell me this Skill is actually useless and just for show.’

’It sounds ridiculous, but if it’s Yu Bao, he’d totally do something like that...’

”Woof.” Yu Bao’s lips curled slightly.

’Small-minded. You’ll understand if you check your phone.’

So, Su Zhi dubiously opened his phone, and his eyes widened in surprise:

The compass, which had been working steadily before, was now spinning wildly as if it were drunk. A closer look, however, revealed a strange pattern to the madness. It would spin two and a half times clockwise, then two and a half times counterclockwise, repeating the same pointless motions over and over...

Su Zhi turned an incredulous gaze on Yu Bao. ”You did this?”

”Wuff!” Yu Bao proudly lifted his head.

The two metal spheres were magnets he had created by specially selecting and condensing metals with magnetic moments, which could generate a certain amount of magnetism. Infusing them with Thick Earth Golden Might greatly enhanced their magnetic strength, achieving the Effect of altering the magnetic field within a certain range.

’If I run into opponents that are hard to break through, I can even create a strong magnetic field to envelop them, directly affecting their bodily fluid circulation to destroy them from the inside!’

’On top of that, this Skill can also target many flying Exotic Beasts, since most birds rely heavily on magnetic fields for direction and stability during high-speed movement. If I encounter an opponent who wants to use kiting tactics, I can directly disrupt the magnetic field to give them motion sickness and win without a fight!’

”Chirp...” Shan Bao started to tremble with fear.

Su Zhi: ”Holy shit...”

’Yu Bao really didn’t disappoint. As punishing as ever... While other Pet Beasts are still figuring out how to increase their damage output or enhance their defense, he’s already messing with negative status effects...’

Yu Bao also raised his chin smugly.

’Behold, an original Skill by Master Yu: Strong Magnetic Control!’

SPLAT— Then the two silver metal spheres lost control and fell to the ground.

Su Zhi: ”...”

Yu Bao: ”...”

Yu Bao indicated that since the Skill was newly created, it was still a bit unstable. He could only control it for about a minute right now.

”Can you even handle it, you skinny little thing...” Su Zhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

’But duration isn’t a huge problem. Practice makes perfect, he can just train more in the future. Besides, Yu Bao is the type with outstanding Perception, so his potential for mastering this kind of Skill is actually quite high.’

”Oh, right.”

Su Zhi looked at Yu Bao as if he’d just remembered something. ”Now that you can skillfully cast some Gold Element Skills, and your mastery of the Fire Element is already quite deep, can you cast Skills of all three Attributes at the same time?”

”Woof!” Yu Bao tried really hard—

And shook his head.

Although he could use both Attributes individually with his Earth Element, he couldn’t use them all together.

What a pity. If the Fire and Gold Elements could be cast simultaneously, he could try some rather *punishing* things.

Su Zhi: ”...”

’If it’s Yu Bao, not being able to do it might not be a bad thing. When other Pet Beasts talk about being ’punishing,’ they might just be talking. Yu Bao is different. He’s *truly* punishing.’

But what made Su Zhi even more curious was Yu Bao’s Attribute.

In a sense, Yu Bao could already skillfully control Gold Element Energy, so he should be considered an Earth and Gold Dual Element Pet Beast. However, the Beast Tamer’s dedicated device always scanned him as an Earth and Fire Dual Element. It only briefly switched to Earth and Gold Dual Element when Yu Bao was casting Gold Element Skills.

In other words, the two opposing Attribute Energies within Yu Bao’s body still hadn’t reconciled. Their current state was more like they were keeping to themselves, each doing its own thing.

”Right now, you have two forms you can switch between at will, but you can’t use both at the same time.”

”Woof?” Yu Bao scratched his head.

’But I didn’t feel like I transformed when I was using Gold Element Skills?’

Su Zhi tucked his hands into his sleeves. ”You actually did.”

”When you use Gold Element Energy, your eyes and the markings on your forehead turn from red to gold. Your claws also get covered in a Golden Light, making them a bit shinier.”

”Woof.” Yu Bao put on a grumpy little puppy face.

’So it’s just a color change? I thought I was getting a new skin.’

”Why would a dog like you need a new skin...” Su Zhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

”But following that line of thought, if the only difference between the two Dual Attribute forms is a color change, then what happens when you can control three Attributes at once? You won’t be able to distinguish the forms with a simple color swap anymore. Isn’t it possible you’d get a new skin then?”

”!” Yu Bao’s eyes widened.

’That makes so much sense.’

’Alright, I’m gonna go grind right now! For a new skin!!!’
