Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

”Woof,” Profound Yellow nodded, his eyes dancing with a fiery battle lust.

’Wow, you really know how to stir the pot...’ Su Zhi couldn’t help but laugh, already picturing the scene:

After they went their separate ways yesterday, Tuoba Jing must have whispered in Profound Yellow’s ear, ’I saw someone else’s Yu Dian Farm Dog today. Look at him, and then look at you.jpg.’

No wonder Profound Yellow had set his sights on Yu Bao.

On the other hand, it was just as Tuoba Jing had said. Being in a foreign land, it was impossible not to feel a bit lonely and out of place.

A Beastmaster’s growth is accompanied by countless Pet Beast Battles. Yet in this Secret Realm, a place far less developed than the Current World, he was the only Beastmaster. Paradoxically, this meant he couldn’t find a suitable opponent to spar and exchange pointers with.

Now that he had finally met another Beastmaster—one from two hundred years in the future, no less—he naturally felt the urge to spar and connect with someone from a later generation.

In fact, even if Tuoba Jing hadn’t suggested a match, Su Zhi would have.

After all, you don’t get the chance to spar with a master from the Classical Era back in the Current World. ’Since I’m already here, I might as well!’

”In that case, this junior will humbly accept.”

”Haha, excellent! We don’t have enough room to maneuver here. Young friend, follow me.”

Led by Tuoba Jing, Su Zhi went through the cottage’s back door into a wide-open space in the backyard. It had clearly been cleared out for this purpose, and its dimensions were nearly identical to a standard battle ring.

The Beastmaster and the Beast Tamer took their positions on opposite sides of the simple ring, while their Pet Beasts assumed combat stances.

Many passersby near the cottage saw what was happening in the backyard and stopped to watch. Before long, a large crowd had gathered.

”Is that the Beastmaster, Lord Tuoba?”

”It certainly is. I didn’t expect Lord Tuoba to be home today!”

”Who’s the other one? His clothes are so strange, and he looks so young. I’ve never seen him before. Is he a Beastmaster too?”

”I think so, he has a Pet Beast!”

”I can’t believe another Beastmaster has come to our lands besides Lord Tuoba! With a new Lord Beastmaster here, our good days are about to begin!”

”It looks like the two lords are about to spar! Who do you think will win?”

”Lord Tuoba, probably? The other Lord Beastmaster seems a bit too young. He doesn’t look very experienced...”

The villagers’ chatter grew louder, but for the two combatants who had already entered the zone, all outside noise faded to nothing.

The two Pet Beasts focused their concentration to the absolute limit, like arrows notched on a bowstring, ready to be released at any moment!

”Tuoba Jing of the Flying Shadow Alliance. I await your guidance, young friend.”

”Preparatory Alliance Member Su Zhi. I ask for your guidance, Senior!”

”Woof!”

The moment the battle began, Profound Yellow lunged at Yu Bao with incredible speed.

While speed wasn’t the strongest Attribute of a Yu Dian Farm Dog, Profound Yellow’s current velocity was approaching that of some mobility-focused Pet Beasts. It was nothing short of astonishing.

Yu Bao dodged instinctively, but Profound Yellow had already adjusted its posture to lunge with a bite. Its two rows of sharp teeth glinted with a dense yellow light under the sun—it was the Yu Dian Dog’s Entry-level Skill, Rock-Breaking Teeth!

CRUNCH!

A dull crunching sound echoed as Yu Bao broke out in a cold sweat. He had barely dodged it.

The instant Rock-Breaking Teeth activated, a surge of Fierce Sun erupted from Profound Yellow’s mouth, engulfing a small area on the spot.

’Good thing I played it safe...’ If Yu Bao had chosen to be stubborn and take it head-on, he’d probably be roasted duck neck by now. Even for a Pet Beast of the same Attribute, that attack would have dealt considerable damage!

”Yu Bao, be careful! Your opponent’s fundamental stats are very high. Don’t let him drag you into a head-on clash!”

”Woof woof.” Yu Bao nodded repeatedly, a hint of fear now in his eyes as he looked at Profound Yellow.

’Bro, are you for real? This is terrifying.’

Back when he hadn’t evolved, even fighting Sister Ai’s Mars didn’t feel this oppressive...

For now, Yu Bao could only try to maintain the stalemate, observe his opponent, and look for an opening.

Profound Yellow’s Energy Value wasn’t actually that high; it was about average for an upper-tier Two-star, basically on par with Yu Bao.

But right now, he wasn’t fighting like a Two-star at all—he was even giving off the aura of a Quasi-Three-star. In this state, as if he were on steroids, Yu Bao was struggling to even maintain the stalemate. One wrong move and he’d be on the receiving end of a brutal Continuous Combo.

Even though this was just a friendly spar between Pet Beasts, Yu Bao found it even more troublesome than facing an Earthquake Beast...

WHOOSH!

A red Light Array suddenly lit up the ground. A Giant Fire Pillar shot out at incredible speed, instantly enveloping Yu Bao’s body.

Although the Effect of a Skill is weakened between same-Attribute opponents, Profound Yellow was on a hot streak. The powerful impact of this blow still managed to break Yu Bao’s stance.

SHING!

A Golden Light instantly covered Profound Yellow’s entire body. Crimson Flame licked through his fur, adding a domineering aura.

The Yu Dian Farm Dog Core Skill, Yanhuang Blessing!

Yu Bao’s eyes widened. He hastily countered by stacking a Furious Sand Blade and a Sandstorm. But Profound Yellow didn’t dodge or evade; he charged straight at Yu Bao, head-on into the Furious Sand Blade.

Scorched by the Flame on his body, the Furious Sand Blade shattered, more than half of it disintegrating. The remaining fragments that struck him were a spent force, hardly worth mentioning.

As for the sand, it was even less of a bother for a Yu Dian Farm Dog boosted by its Racial Skill.

THUD! Yu Bao was slammed hard by Profound Yellow and sent flying. A massive red Light Array then appeared, and the instant Yu Bao landed, it erupted with a gigantic pillar of fire, completely engulfing him.

FWOOSH—FWOOSH—FWOOSH—FWOOSH—

Pale yellow needles of light flashed, and four Yellow Earth Walls subsequently rose up, completely surrounding and sealing the Flame.

After completing the smooth and fluid sequence, Profound Yellow looked toward the Flame, the ardent battle lust in his eyes softening into relief.

Completely surrounded, Yu Bao had no chance. A Giant Fire Pillar of this intensity would quickly neutralize him. Even if he broke through the Yellow Earth Walls, he wouldn’t be able to turn the tables.

’It’s over... A flawless, decisive blow.’

Profound Yellow slowly walked forward.

He was an Exotic Beast born and raised in this place.

He had once been surrounded by Earthquake Beasts when Tuoba Jing and Zi Lu happened to rescue him. It was then that Profound Yellow learned of the existence of people called Beastmasters.

He then took the initiative to ask to become Tuoba Jing’s Pet Beast, and the man readily agreed. Thus, the contract between human and pet was formed.

To repay his Beastmaster for recognizing his potential, Profound Yellow trained relentlessly. He soon caught up to his senior sister, Zi Lu, becoming one of Tuoba Jing’s main Pet Beasts.

As they spent more time together, Profound Yellow gradually learned about the backgrounds of his senior sister and his master. His senior sister told him that the outside world was much, much larger than this place, and that there were many other Beastmasters, some of whom were even stronger than Tuoba Jing.

From that day on, Profound Yellow trained even harder.

He hoped that if they could one day return to the outside world, other Beastmasters would look at his master with new respect because of him!

But after yesterday’s battle, his Beastmaster had said so many good things about Yu Bao, praising his vibrant spirit, his skilled fighting techniques, and his sharp, agile mind...

Profound Yellow understood that there was always someone better out there.

He didn’t deny that some Pet Beasts were stronger than him, like his Senior Sister Zi Lu.

But even knowing this, Profound Yellow couldn’t accept it.

His senior sister could be stronger than him because she was always good to him, but someone else’s pet couldn’t. And since Yu Bao was also a Yu Dian Farm Dog, just like him, it was even more unacceptable!

Thankfully, today’s spar had gone smoothly. Profound Yellow had proven with his own actions that he was stronger than Yu Bao!

Suddenly, Tuoba Jing’s light chuckle came from the Beast Taming Space. ”Profound Yellow, it might be a bit too early to be celebrating.”

”!?” Hearing his master’s warning, Profound Yellow’s body tensed instantly.

During battles, Tuoba Jing usually only set broad strategies and rarely gave direct commands for specific Skills. A reminder like this was even rarer.

’Could it be that the Continuous Combo just now didn’t actually take Yu Bao out of the fight?’

’But even so, after being roasted in a Giant Fire Pillar for so long, he should have been toast by now...’

’Wait, he’s not in the Giant Fire Pillar!’

Profound Yellow instinctively whipped his head around. What met his eyes was a shimmering afterimage of Golden Light.
