Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

With that, Wang Baichuan walked toward the village entrance. Just as he was about to leave the square, he looked back at Su Zhi.

Su Zhi smiled, nodded, and gave him a thumbs-up.

Wang Baichuan nodded back emphatically, then broke into a jog, quickly disappearing from everyone’s sight.

”Damn it, I’ve lived half my life. I’m not about to let some kid show me up!”

A farmer in a straw hat shouldered his hoe and also walked out from the crowd. ”I’m going too! If I don’t make it back, I’ll have to trouble you brothers with taking care of my mother’s funeral!”

Another farmer quickly followed. ”Me too! It’s better to die killing an Earthquake Beast than to die on my knees while it gnaws on me!”

”Count me in! I know how to make traps!”

It turned out that fear wasn’t the only thing that was contagious... so was courage.

The moment Wang Baichuan announced he would face the Earthquake Beast, the blood of the Jinshi Village people began to boil for the first time in a long while.

It was like the first spark of civilization being lit, burning until it became the lights of ten thousand homes. And it would continue to burn until it had incinerated all the thorns and darkness.

The villagers responded to the call en masse, joining the team to fight the Earthquake Beast and going to battle to reclaim their lives.

The Beastmaster, who did not belong to this time and space, saw them off with his gaze, then immediately rushed to his own battlefield without a moment’s delay.

’If only for that shout that pierced through fear... I absolutely cannot lose this fight!’

”CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP!”

Amidst Shan Bao’s cries, a continuous, shimmering Golden Light enveloped Su Zhi and his Envoy’s Pets.

In just an instant, they appeared on the riverbank behind Jinshi Village.

This was Jinshi Village’s mother river. Nearly all the villagers drew water, washed up, and fished here, just as their ancestors had for generations. The clear water leaped between the stones, creating a poetic scene.

Right now, the Earthquake Beast the villagers spoke of was treading water in the river—it wasn’t some invincible miracle, just taller than an ordinary Earthquake Beast.

[Pet Beast: ???

Race: Low Level Commander

The Beast Tamer’s dedicated device automatically reacted with a scan.

”Hoo...” Su Zhi let out a long breath, released the newly-upgraded Yu Bao, and watched as the panel, visible only to him, slowly faded from view.

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Farm Dog)

Power: 1.30

Agility: 2.26

Intelligence: 3.60

[Real-time Energy Value: 6300]

”Clara...” The Earthquake Beast noticed a living creature approaching and slowly opened its bloody maw toward Su Zhi and his Envoy’s Pets on the riverbank.

”CHIRP!”

A Golden Light flashed rapidly.

Shan Bao shot straight toward the Earthquake Beast like a bullet. The moment it got close, it activated Super Heavy Gold Fall and Hardening. With its hard beak pointed forward, it maximized its destructive power.

”DONG!”

Shan Bao collided with the Earthquake Beast in the river. The deafening crash sounded like the beating of a drum, and the turbulent airflow sent river water splashing everywhere.

But the Earthquake Beast didn’t budge an inch. Shan Bao’s full-power attack hadn’t even made it take a single step back.

”WUU!” Another angry insect-like cry rang out as Wu Bao activated Lance Thrust, ramming forward viciously from the same direction.

Its long horn stabbed between the Earthquake Beast’s numerous legs, acting like a lever under a heavy object. Wu Bao steadied itself, focused all its strength, and pried upward, instantly unleashing the force of a thousand pounds.

’You dare touch Shan Bao! Die!’

However, Wu Bao was also shocked to find that this lever-like move, which was enough to topple an ordinary Earthquake Beast, only made this one take a small step back.

”Clara!” The Earthquake Beast quickly readjusted its center of gravity and snapped its jaws at them.

Its massive mouth, which took up a huge portion of its body, opened completely, becoming almost as large as Wu Bao without using Doubling.

”CHIRP!”

Shan Bao didn’t linger. It activated Flash Gold Teleportation to get itself and Wu Bao out of the way.

”CRUNCH—”

The next moment, the Earthquake Beast’s giant mouth chomped down on the stream and stone slabs, completely mangling a large section of the riverbed. Rocks collapsed, the terrain shattered, and the stream split and scattered. From above, it looked as if the stream itself had been bitten in two.

This Earthquake Beast hadn’t even used a Skill; it had caused such destruction with a simple, brutish bite.

”WHOOSH WHOOSH!”

The sound of swirling sand came from behind the Earthquake Beast. While Wu Bao and Shan Bao were being thwarted, Yu Bao’s Quicksand Shield had been accelerating and charging up in the air. Now, having found the optimal point of impact, it slammed into the Earthquake Beast with lightning speed.

A Perception score 4.64 times the baseline value gave Yu Bao exceptional Elemental Control ability, making its Quicksand Shield not only more powerful and heavy than before but also allowing it to rotate faster.

”BANG!” ”BANG!”

Under Yu Bao’s control, two Quicksand Shields at full power struck the same spot on the Earthquake Beast one after the other.

At the same time, the terrain of the riverbed under the Earthquake Beast’s feet changed dramatically. A nearly two-meter-deep pit appeared out of nowhere—the instant it released the Quicksand Shields, Yu Bao had fully unleashed its Earth Force Field!

”BOOM—”

Under the multiple blows, the Earthquake Beast finally, inevitably, staggered.

However, just as it was about to fall, the rubble around the riverbed suddenly rolled on its own, directly filling in the pit created by the Earth Force Field.

Su Zhi’s eyes widened when he saw this.

’As Yu Bao’s Beast Tamer, I couldn’t be mistaken... The Skill the Earthquake Beast just used was Earth Force Field!’

”ARF-WOO?!”

Seeing its own Skill defeated by the opponent using the very same Skill, Yu Bao immediately flew into a panic.

Su Zhi quickly held Yu Bao back. ”Don’t get drawn into a fight! Create some distance!”

Earth Force Field is a Control Type Skill. The biggest influencing factors are a Pet Beast’s Energy Control Ability and its Energy Value reserves.

Yu Bao’s Energy Value was far less than the Earthquake Beast’s. Its Earth Force Field would be completely overwhelmed by the opponent’s, giving it no chance to use its ability, no matter how strong it was.

”Clara...”

The Earthquake Beast steadied itself. After a brief pause, it suddenly lunged at the one human and three Pet Beasts.

Although they were prepared, the group still had trouble adjusting to a speed that was completely at odds with its size. In the blink of an eye, the mountain-like Earthquake Beast was already on top of them.

”RUMBLE!” At the same time, the ground twisted and cracked as the Earthquake Beast’s Earth Force Field warped the terrain of the riverbed area.

Yu Bao, who was used to having control of the terrain, was actually thrown off balance and slipped unexpectedly.

”CHIRP!” Shan Bao saw that something was wrong and quickly used Flash Gold Teleportation to escape with Wu Bao and Su Zhi.

”? ” Yu Bao was dumbfounded.

’What about me? I haven’t boarded yet!’

”CHIRP!” Shan Bao scratched its head sheepishly, indicating that the Flash Gold Flash Space couldn’t fit that many, so it didn’t bring him along.

Yu Bao: ”???”

”CRUNCH!”

The shadow hit the ground as the leaping Earthquake Beast snapped its massive jaws shut. A faint yellow Light Array shone for only a moment before being extinguished: under the effect of Thick Earth Golden Might, the Dual-Element Yellow Earth Wall summoned after its stat increase hadn’t even lasted a second against the Earthquake Beast.

At the same time, a pale blue Light Array lit up beside Su Zhi, who had already teleported to the opposite bank. Yu Bao, having made an emergency escape via the Beast Taming Space, reappeared.

”Woof-damn...” Yu Bao looked at the Earthquake Beast on the other side, its face filled with lingering fear.

’That’s terrifying. My strongest Defense Skill is actually this fragile in front of it.’

What was more serious, however, was that this Earthquake Beast’s weight was clearly beyond their capabilities. Although Earthquake Beasts were lighter than they looked, this lightness was relative...

The combination that maximized their pushing force had only made the Earthquake Beast stumble slightly—and this creature had more legs than the one human and three pets combined. A stumble like that was completely meaningless.

’How are we supposed to fight this?’

Su Zhi’s brow furrowed, his nerves just as taut.

The battle had developed beyond his plans. According to his original idea, as long as Yu Bao used its Earth Force Field to dig a pit, everything would be fine.

But Yu Bao didn’t have enough Energy Value.

”Clara...”

The Earthquake Beast moved again. This time it didn’t cross the river; instead, a Golden Light slowly began to emanate from its body.

Su Zhi’s eyes instantly widened—this Earthquake Beast was going to cause an earthquake!

If it caused an earthquake here, with its Energy Value, half the village would be destroyed!

Su Zhi subconsciously clenched his fists. He wanted to command his Pet Beasts to go forward and stop it, but he felt a deep sense of powerlessness.

’Faced with such a huge gap in power, what can I even do...?’

”SWOOSH—”

In his moment of hesitation, a bolt of azure lightning suddenly descended as if tearing through space and time, viciously striking the Earthquake Beast.
