Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

WHOOSH!

In an instant, a blinding Golden Light flooded his vision, rushing in like a violent torrent into an empty bottle. The intense brightness momentarily blinded Profound Yellow.

The situation on the stage could change in a flash; a single moment was all it took to turn victory into defeat.

Along with the Golden Light came a surging, piercing killing intent!

Even with his eyes useless, Profound Yellow relied on his outstanding reflexes and powerful fundamentals to instinctively dodge the blow.

Rapidly vibrating sand and metal particles grazed his cheek, stinging his flesh like icy sleet whipped up by a winter gale.

A chill shot through Profound Yellow’s heart.

Judging from the sensation of the attack, it was clearly similar to the Furious Sand Blade he had witnessed earlier. But this one was far sharper. Even with Yanhuang Blessing active, Profound Yellow had no confidence he could take a direct hit unscathed.

Yu Bao had been holding back—and by a lot!

The moment he dodged the Golden Sand Battle Saber, Profound Yellow’s vision returned, and he immediately adjusted his stance to face Yu Bao.

Although Yu Bao’s counterattack and sneak attack hadn’t gained him any real advantage, Profound Yellow’s vigilance rose by more than a few notches.

He now understood that his master hadn’t been exaggerating. Yu Bao was strong—unpredictably so. This fight was going to be tough.

”Woof?” Yu Bao gave him a surprised look.

’I was sure Profound Yellow was unguarded before I launched my sneak attack. A Wise One never bluffs without an ace up his sleeve... To think he actually dodged it, and so beautifully, without even leaving an opening.’

’And he even knows Yellow Earth Wall... ’

’Tsk, it seems I’ve met my match!’

”Using a Sandstorm to conceal the evasion route of Desert Concealment? A truly remarkable idea... But what was that Skill that resembled a Stand-In? Could it be that young friend allowed his Pet Beast to achieve enlightenment on its own?”

Watching the two Yu Dian Farm Dogs pull apart again, Tuoba Jing propped up his chin with great interest.

Yesterday, he had witnessed the Furious Sand Blade and the Earth Force Field, and he had assumed they were just some supplementary lessons from Su Zhi outside the orthodox system. It was similar to his own Profound Yellow, who had also learned some extra Skills, like Yellow Earth Wall, on top of mastering all the traditional Yu Dian Dog Skills.

But now, it seemed that wasn’t the case.

Yu Bao’s Skills were a completely new system, fundamentally different from the ”mainstream” he followed.

”Woof...” Profound Yellow stared intently into Yu Bao’s eyes.

’It’s unbelievable. I’m certain that was a Golden Sand Battle Saber, an Earth and Gold Dual Element Skill.’

’It’s one thing that Yanhuang Blessing couldn’t block it; I can accept that. Yu Bao seems to have awakened a similar Enhancing Skill, just for the Earth and Gold Dual Element. The principle is more or less the same, so that’s not hard to understand...’

’But what was with that blinding light?’

’That Skill definitely doesn’t have the Light Element.’

’Even if activating an Element increases the brightness of the physical manifestation, there’s no way it could reach that level!’

”Woof~!” Yu Bao responded, looking rather smug.

’That’s simple. A metal’s cross-section will reflect light once it’s polished to a certain degree, and the sun is the brightest light source there is.’

’You just have to make sure every single metal particle has at least one smooth, polished side, and then arrange them all at a specific angle. When the Furious Sand Blade reaches a certain point in its trajectory, it will reflect enough light at a specific target to be blinding!’

”Woof...” Hearing Yu Bao’s explanation, Profound Yellow’s expression grew even more serious.

’It’s not that it’s impossible, just that no one in their right mind would ever think of it.’

’Even if you could, it would require an exceptionally outstanding Energy Control Ability. The attention to detail needed would be ridiculously demanding.’

’To pull off such delicate work on a constantly changing battlefield is undoubtedly a dual test of both ability and mentality. Yet Yu Bao did it so casually, all for the sole purpose of making me lose my vision for a split second...’

’If that’s the case, then he’s capable of so much more.’

Fighting an opponent like this... Profound Yellow felt the pressure mount even higher.

”Woof?” Yu Bao waved his paw sheepishly.

’Oh, that?’

’I wasn’t trying to control your vision. I just thought adding a light effect would look cooler~’

Profound Yellow: ”...”

”Woof!”

After a brief staredown, both sides finished their adjustments and launched a new round of attacks at the same time.

This time, Profound Yellow didn’t rush in recklessly. Instead, he changed tactics, opting for suppression with long-range attacks.

’Since Yu Bao can use Gold Element Skills, I’ll just increase my use of Fire Element Skills and suppress him with an Attribute advantage!’

More red Light Arrays spread across the ground. One Giant Fire Pillar after another erupted, lunging at Yu Bao without warning like enormous earth spikes.

At the same time, as Profound Yellow’s body began to glow red, countless fist-sized fireballs materialized out of thin air and flew toward Yu Bao in a massive swarm.

—A Fire Element Low Level Extraordinary Skill, Fireball Technique.

This bottom-tier Skill, which normally wouldn’t see use in a ”high-end match,” was perfect for the current situation.

The Fireball Technique, combined with the Giant Fire Pillars, wove a dense and varied net of Flame, sealing off nearly all of Yu Bao’s escape routes. Even if Yu Bao could dodge the Giant Fire Pillars, he would still have to face the dense barrage of fireballs.

An offensive of this scale would have a hard time taking down Yu Bao directly, but it could at least suppress his Gold Element Skills and prevent him from catching Profound Yellow off guard with his various tricks.

Profound Yellow’s strategy worked.

The high-temperature environment drastically increased the cost of using Gold Element Skills. Yu Bao had no choice but to deactivate Thick Earth Golden Might and revert to the weaker Thick Earth Blessing state.
