Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

In truth, Yu Bao had no idea which Skill to use for his attempt.

He didn’t activate Thick Earth Golden Might because he had some grand strategy; it was because the Skill could, after all, strengthen his body.

’If this attempt fails, at least it won’t hurt as much...’

Staring at the Earthquake Beast’s cavernous, dark maw, Yu Bao steeled himself, glared, and thrust his head forward to meet it.

I’m your daddy!

Look me in the eye, you spawn!

Then, something happened that took Yu Bao completely by surprise: the moment he activated Thick Earth Golden Might, all the Earthquake Beasts froze in unison.

Even the one that had been about to bite him seemed to be flash-frozen, stopping dead in its tracks.

”Clara...”

Then, a few of the Earthquake Beasts let out low growls.

To a normal person, the sound would have been unremarkable, but Yu Bao could tell that the Earthquake Beasts were now feeling awe and confusion.

’Did it actually work?’

Perched on a distant high ground, Su Zhi and Tuoba Jing exchanged bewildered glances.

After a moment of thought, Yu Bao deactivated Thick Earth Golden Might.

”...Clara!”

The Earthquake Beasts’ growls instantly turned hostile, and the one closest to Yu Bao opened its gaping, bloody maw.

”YIP!”

Just as he was about to be bitten, Yu Bao reactivated Thick Earth Golden Might.

”Clara...”

The Earthquake Beasts grew calm again and closed their mouths.

So, Yu Bao deactivated Thick Earth Golden Might again.

”...Clara!” The Earthquake Beast opened its mouth.

Yu Bao activated Thick Earth Golden Might again.

”Clara...” The Earthquake Beast closed its mouth.

”Arf~” Yu Bao wagged his tail excitedly. ’This is actually kind of fun.’

”Master Yu, stop messing around...” From a distance, Su Zhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. He quickly followed up, ”So the answer is Thick Earth Golden Might? As long as you have that Skill activated, the Earthquake Beasts won’t attack?”

”Arf, arf.”

Yu Bao propped up his chin, looking thoughtful.

’It’s not necessarily that simple,’ he thought. ’I didn’t have Thick Earth Golden Might on the whole time during the earlier standoff with the Earthquake Beasts.’

’But activating Thick Earth Golden Might does seem to guarantee that they’ll calm down.’

”If I’m not mistaken, Yu Bao’s Skill should be fundamentally the same as a Yu Dian Dog’s Core Skill—a type of Skill that activates one’s own Attributes.”

Tuoba Jing said thoughtfully, ”Let me ask you something, young friend. Although Yu Bao has shown signs of awakening the Gold Attribute, he’s still fundamentally an Earth and Fire Dual Element, correct?”

Su Zhi nodded immediately. ”Yes. According to a senior from the Divine Strategy Alliance, Yu Bao hasn’t fully awakened the Gold Element Energy in his body. In fact, we came to Hundred Rivers to look for just such an opportunity.”

”Then that aligns with my speculation.”

Tuoba Jing slapped one hand into the other.

”For some reason, these Earthquake Beasts are subservient to Earth and Gold Dual Element Yu Dian Farm Dogs. That’s why even a pure Earth Element Yu Dian Dog can sometimes avoid their attacks.

”Right now, Yu Bao hasn’t fully awakened his Gold Element, but when he activates that vitalizing Skill, the energy in his body closely mimics the awakened state, tricking them into thinking Yu Bao is the one they’re supposed to obey.”

Su Zhi narrowed his eyes. ”Interesting... so Earthquake Beasts are obedient to Yu Dian Dogs.”

’Could it be that these Earthquake Beasts really do have some connection to Senior Shao Jiguang’s Yu Dian Emperor Dog?’

”Regardless, we can finally make some progress.”

Tuoba Jing smiled faintly and patted Su Zhi’s shoulder. ”Young friend, can you have Yu Bao communicate with the Earthquake Beasts? If he can get them to leave, or even better, go back the way they came, we can follow the trail and tail them to investigate further.”

Su Zhi immediately used the Beast Taming Space to communicate with Yu Bao. ”Master Yu, I’m leaving it to you.”

”Woof,” Yu Bao grumbled, curling his lip.

’When there’s no trouble, he calls me King Bi. When he needs something, it’s ’Master Yu’.’

Still, he did want to give it a try... Maintaining Thick Earth Golden Might, Yu Bao turned his gaze to the Earthquake Beasts before him.

The Earthquake Beasts all stood quietly with their mouths shut, looking quite docile.

”WOOF!”

Yu Bao lifted his left paw and pointed behind them.

’Everyone’s done great, very spirited. Now listen to me, go on home!’

The Earthquake Beasts didn’t react.

Yu Bao: ”...”

’Weren’t they supposed to obey me?’

”Woof, woof, wooo!” Yu Bao tried a different tone.

’You! Return trip! Get to work!’

The Earthquake Beasts still didn’t react.

Yu Bao was speechless.

Up above, Su Zhi was desperately trying not to laugh.

Completely forgetting that these beasts had just been trying to eat him, Yu Bao walked up to one of them with a stern expression, extended a paw, and started whacking it, his face screaming with exasperation for their failure to improve.

’Turn around! Turn, turn, turn!’

[Assignable Attribute Points (Yu Bao): 0.21... 0.30]

The Earthquake Beast he was hitting suddenly moved.

Yu Bao jumped in fright, spinning around and scrambling several meters away.

After catching his breath, his heart still pounding, Yu Bao realized the Earthquake Beast wasn’t attacking him. Instead, it was slowly turning and walking away.

’Damn, that nearly scared this dog to death.’

’Wait, did the Earthquake Beast suddenly understand him?’ Yu Bao recalled the last few moments, looked at his own paws, and fell into thought.

’Could it be... because I hit it?’

”Weren’t you being all brave a second ago? Why’d you get so scared?” Su Zhi’s teasing voice echoed from the Beast Taming Space.

”Woof,” Yu Bao shot him an annoyed glare.

’For a Wise One, it’s not called being a coward, it’s called listening to your heart!’

While master and pet bickered, the herd of Earthquake Beasts stomped away with deafening footsteps, gradually disappearing into the distance.

The town’s residents began to emerge from their hiding places, cautiously climbing to high vantage points to watch, their faces filled with the joy of having survived a disaster.

”Unbelievable... the Earthquake Beasts are actually leaving!”

”It must be the work of those two great Beastmasters! Praise be to the great Beastmasters!”
