Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Three days later—

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Farm Dog)]

Power: 1.30

Agility: 2.00

Intelligence: 2.08

Constitution: 1.42

Perception: 2.10]

[Real-time Energy Value: 2313]

[Assignable Attribute Points: 0.25]

”WOOF!”

Behind the Flying Shadow Alliance dormitory, Yu Bao slightly arched its body, tail raised, crimson light swirling in its pupils as it stared straight ahead.

This is what you call Waist and Horse Unity!

”WHOOSH!”

The moment Yu Bao lowered its body, a crimson Light Array instantly lit up the ground not far ahead.

Immediately after, a pillar of fire nearly two meters tall shot up from the Light Array, its scorching brilliance momentarily cutting through the soft morning light.

[Assignable Attribute Points: 0.17... 0.24]

”Haaaah!” Yu Bao scrambled into Su Zhi’s arms, all Bling Bling.

’It worked!’

”Way to go!”

Su Zhi was prepared this time, catching him firmly with open arms, and wasn’t knocked over by his big Dog.

Yu Bao’s eyes were shining, and Su Zhi was just as excited.

What Yu Bao had just unleashed was the Fire Element Low Level Elite Skill, Giant Fire Pillar, which involves setting up an attack Light Array to shoot a slender pillar of flame upward to strike an enemy.

Giant Fire Pillar wasn’t part of the standard Skill System for a Yu Dian Farm Dog, but due to its excellent performance, many Beast Tamers had their Yu Dian Farm Dogs learn this skill.

During the Alliance Youth Team assessment, Yang Shuyue’s Yu Dian Farm Dog, Mars, had used this very move to put Yu Bao in a tight spot, a memory that was still fresh in Yu Bao’s mind.

That’s why Giant Fire Pillar was the very first move Yu Bao learned after evolving!

Of course, Yu Bao’s path to learning new Skills wasn’t smooth.

Compared to the series of Earth Element Skills it knew before evolving, learning a Pure Fire Element skill like Giant Fire Pillar was a relatively unfamiliar process for Yu Bao.

In the beginning, Yu Bao hit a lot of walls. It could expertly manipulate Earth Element Energy, and it could also manipulate a combination of Earth and Fire Element Energy, but manipulating purely Fire Element Energy was a bit difficult.

But, Yu Bao was a wise Dog.

’Even though I can’t release only Fire Element energy, I can release a combination of Earth and Fire.’

’So what if I just release a little more Fire Element Energy and a little less Earth Element Energy each time? Wouldn’t that work?’

So Yu Bao gave it a try.

And Yu Bao succeeded.

After a full day and night of hard training, Yu Bao successfully mastered its first new skill since evolving, and its first Pure Fire Element Skill!

Although Giant Fire Pillar wasn’t some kind of decisive finishing move, its power was not to be underestimated when used correctly.

It had no wind-up before being cast, allowing it to strike enemies from below by surprise. It was particularly effective against certain Pet Beasts with thick shells on their backs but soft underbellies.

As for who specifically, Yu Bao wasn’t saying, but it was *definitely* not aimed at Wu Bao.

’So that’s what good bros are for... backstabbing.’ Sensing the little guy’s thoughts, Su Zhi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

While Yu Bao had been grinding away these past two days, he hadn’t been slacking either. Whenever he had a free moment, he cultivated his Beast Taming Space through Meditation with the help of the Divine Concealment Core.

After reaching Tier Two, the feeling of his Beast Taming Space growing and expanding became much more obvious, far faster than the slow increase at Tier One.

At this rate, advancing to a Tier Three Beast Taming Space was just around the corner!

He hadn’t dreamed of those eerie, large eyes again. ’Maybe last time was really just a nightmare after all.’

”Holy crap, that’s awesome!”

Having witnessed Yu Bao’s Giant Fire Pillar, Xu Jianzhi, who was also out for a morning workout, remarked with a wry smile, ”Learning a new skill in less than three days... you guys are ridiculous. It’d be a cold day in hell before I could win.”

”Just so-so,” Su Zhi said humbly.

After Yu Bao evolved, it caused a small stir within the Flying Shadow Alliance summer camp. Many people challenged Su Zhi to a Pet Beast Battle, wanting to witness the master’s prowess for themselves.

The result, naturally, was that they were casually crushed by Yu Bao as if it were taking a stroll.

After all, the difference between before and after evolution wasn’t just a tiny bit.

These few points were slowly accumulated during those sparring matches.

The campers thanked him for being so easygoing, saying he had the air of a true expert.

He, in turn, wanted to thank them for their generosity in lining up to let him fleece them.

”A week’s gone by in the blink of an eye. After the finals today, my summer camp life is over.”

Xu Jianzhi sighed, looking up at the sky.

”Tell me about it,” Su Zhi sighed as well.

Putting aside everything else, the infrastructure at the Alliance Headquarters was truly amazing: the commute was maxed out on convenience, the internet speed was maxed out, the cafeteria completely blew Huai City’s most high-end restaurants out of the water, and the various shopping centers and services could rival any bustling metropolis...

The thought of suddenly having to leave such a great place did make him a little reluctant.

But after thinking it through, Su Zhi still felt that Huai City was better.

There were his loving parents, his familiar teachers, classmates, and friends, and even the person who jokingly threatened him every morning while walking to school with him.

That small mountain city couldn’t compare to the Alliance Headquarters in any single aspect.

But in the end, it was the homeland that had raised him.

Xu Jianzhi looked at Su Zhi. ”The finals are team battles. The format is the same as the Inter-provincial City Cup: three one-on-one matches and two two-on-two matches.

How about we team up? We can go on a ’quack quack’ rampage—I’ll handle the ’quack quack’.”

”Sure,” Su Zhi laughed.

Although some unpleasant things had happened between them, after fighting side-by-side in the Secret Realm, the two had quickly buried the hatchet.

Unlike women who might hold a grudge, guys are straightforward. They could be at each other’s throats in the morning and have their arms around each other’s shoulders playing ball in the afternoon.

They had sparred a few times since then, and although Xu Jianzhi had never won due to the matchup disadvantage, Yu Bao’s victories were never easy.

Xu Jianzhi’s Beast Taming Talent was very powerful. In terms of one-on-one battles, there was little doubt he ranked in the top three of this Flying Shadow Alliance summer camp.

Plus, they had fought side-by-side in the Secret Realm before, so Su Zhi was indeed more inclined to team up with him.

”This might be the last time we fight on the same side.”

Xu Jianzhi said with emotion, ”If you participate in the Inter-provincial City Cup in our second year of high school, the next time we meet, we’ll probably be opponents.”

”Please go easy on me, master. I’m just a noob.”

”Noob my ass!”

Xu Jianzhi cursed with a laugh, then stood up and left. ”Well, you two carry on. I’m going to get ready too!”

”Bye,” Su Zhi waved.

”Woof! Woof!” Seeing Xu Jianzhi leave, Yu Bao, Bling Bling, came over to nuzzle Su Zhi.

’Quick! Add the points!’

”I know, I know. Look at you, so impatient,” Su Zhi said with a laugh as he held Yu Bao’s head and gave it a good ruffle.

”By the way, why did you save them up for so long? You could have added them the day before yesterday, you had a decent number of Points.”

”Woof-whine.”

Yu Bao, in the middle of being ruffled, waved a paw.

’You don’t get it. This is called an information gap.’

’If I add the points too early, people will know I’m strong ahead of time and be on their guard.’

’But if I add them now, they won’t know I’ve gotten stronger. They’ll still fight me based on their old assumptions, and then I can show off and put them in their place!’

Su Zhi was speechless. ”Of course it’s you...”

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Farm Dog)]

Power: 1.30

Agility: 2.08 -> 2.10

Intelligence: 2.00 -> 2.10

Constitution: 1.42

Perception: 2.10 -> 2.22]

[Real-time Energy Value: 2630]

[——————]

Yu Bao’s eyes lit up, as if a small lightbulb had just gone ’DING!’ above its head.

’This feeling, like my brain is growing... It’s wisdom!’

Not only that, its body felt much lighter—ever since the very first time it got points, it had been a long time since Yu Bao had felt such a sudden, significant boost in nimbleness.

So, it eagerly activated Desert Concealment a few times.

Su Zhi was surprised to find that Yu Bao’s movement speed was faster and more abrupt than before, and there were even faint signs of non-linear movement.

’What does that mean?’

Tier One Desert Concealment allows for rapid, straight-line movement in a single direction.

Tier Two Desert Concealment allows for rapid changes in direction while moving.

—And now, Yu Bao’s Desert Concealment could even curve slightly. If it became more proficient in the future, it might even be able to move in an S-pattern!

This was a sign of Desert Concealment breaking through to Tier Three!

”Yu Bao, you’re awesome!”

Su Zhi gave Yu Bao a huge hug, but immediately felt his body lighten as he floated off the ground.

Yu Bao had used its Sand Manipulation Technique; Suspended Sand and Flowing Fire lifted him high into the air.

Yu Bao circled around Su Zhi, flying with a flexibility that didn’t resemble a bird in the sky, but rather a fish in water.

Actions that would be difficult for avian creatures, such as sudden stops and sharp turns, were as easy as eating and drinking for Yu Bao.

Although its pure speed still couldn’t compare to agile Pet Beasts like the Cyan Feathered Falcon, it completely outclassed the majority of non-agile Flying Pet Beasts.

Yu Bao, not naturally born to fly, had instead developed a unique understanding of flight different from that of birds after using its Skills to take to the air.

And adding points to Perception, Agility, and Intelligence had further granted Yu Bao the ability to put these insights into practice!

After testing the Skills, the Envoy’s Pet and tamer landed gently. Seeing the Real-time Energy Value as high as 2630, Su Zhi raised his eyebrows in surprise.

Previously, every time he added points, the Real-time Energy Value would only increase by a small amount.

Su Zhi had tried to find a pattern but failed.

But overall, 0.01 Points corresponded to roughly 4-5 Energy Value.

But now, it had jumped directly to 10-15!

’Is it because Yu Bao has already evolved?’ Thinking of this, Su Zhi couldn’t help but smile.

’That’s great. From now on, we won’t have to pathetically gain it bit by bit anymore.’

After taking stock of its gains, Yu Bao tugged on his pant leg. ”Woof woof!”

”Don’t worry, you’ll have plenty of chances today to show... uh.”

Seeing the little guy’s eagerness, Su Zhi shook his head and chuckled.

’From now on, let’s not call you Wise One. Let’s just call you King Bi.’

At nine o’clock sharp in the morning, in Cui Feng Alliance’s Battle Hall No. 16, all 100 arenas were open, and the spectator stands were packed.

The rookie campers sat in the front rows, the official Alliance Members sat in the middle, and the Alliance Leader and other bigwigs sat in the last row.

Whether the memories were of joy, exhaustion, or fulfillment, the eight-day summer camp journey would come to an end today with Pet Beast Battles!

”First match, Divine Strategy Alliance versus Boya Alliance! Fighting for the Divine Strategy Alliance: Shao Ya, Pet Beast: Huajing Cat! Fighting for the Boya Alliance: Li Li, Pet Beast: Ice Armor Scorpion.

”Battle, begin!”

Compared to the Ice Armor Scorpion that got thrashed during the ”size comparison,” this one was, after all, the pet of one of the top campers. Its Real-time Energy Value and combat sense were on a completely different level!

However, the outcome didn’t change. Xiaoyue gave the Ice Armor Scorpion a thorough beating and had it carried off.

It was stronger, but not by much.

”Divine Strategy Alliance, 1; Boya Alliance, 0!”

[Su Zhi]: Nice fight!

In the audience, Su Zhi was typing on his phone.

The girl stepped off the arena, phone in hand. The moment his message was sent, Su Zhi saw the ”typing...” notification appear.

[Shao Ya]: You’re up next! Go, Su Baby!

[Shao Ya]: Huajing Cat making a heart sign.jpg

[Su Zhi]: Mmm, got it

”Next match, Flying Shadow Alliance versus Purity Abyss Alliance! Fighting for the Flying Shadow Alliance: Su Zhi, Pet Beast: Yu Dian Farm Dog! Fighting for the Purity Abyss Alliance: Gao Yuxiang, Pet Beast: Azure Wave Claw!”
