Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Chopper, who had looked nonchalant just a moment ago, slammed his empty milk tea into the trash can, his eyes shining.

”This is an attack technique for Ice Element Pet Beasts. If you cast Frost Storm right after a Blizzard, its power increases exponentially. As long as you solve the problem of its slightly slower casting speed, this skill set poses an immense threat.

”Xiaosai’s Cold Realm Ice Spine has been practicing this skill combo for days. I didn’t expect her to use it right away in this match. She must be taking this fight very seriously!”

”For a high schooler? Is she serious?” Shang Duantie shook his head. ”Looks like I’ll be paying the venue fee.”

Chopper: ”...”

’Whatever. As long as he’s happy.’

On the stage, building on the momentum of the Blizzard, Xue Ao did indeed follow up with a Frost Storm. The frigid torrent grew even more terrifying with the Blizzard’s enhancement, completely enveloping Yu Bao.

Even Su Zhi, standing in the command position, could feel the chill. If not for the defensive barrier, he probably would have gotten frostbite himself.

It would be difficult for any opponent to withstand such a terrifying offensive...

Except for the earth itself!

As the Frost Storm dissipated slightly, Xue Ao caught sight of a Golden Light within the tempest. Yu Bao had activated Thick Earth Blessing to reinforce its Yellow Earth Wall, successfully weathering another round of attacks.

At the same time, gleaming golden Furious Sand Blades converged and formed, launching a counterattack!

”SWISH SWISH—”

One after another, the Furious Sand Blades fought against the pressure of the Frost Storm, shooting toward Xue Ao high in the air.

”WHOOSH! WHOOSH!”

This time, Xue Ao didn’t adopt a defensive strategy. Instead, it used the advantage of its airborne distance to calmly dodge.

Cold Realm Ice Spine was indeed a Pet Beast with outstanding defense, but a truly powerful Pet Beast always formulates different tactics for different battle situations, rather than blindly relying on its strengths.

For example, when facing an opponent like Yu Bao, you absolutely could not defend—because it was impossible to block!

The Frost Storm continued its assault, and the Furious Sand Blades relentlessly countered. The two sides entered a strategic stalemate, neither able to gain the upper hand, each cautiously and calmly searching for the other’s weakness.

In the audience, Shang Duantie and Chopper were stunned.

They watched for a good while without understanding what was happening, but they felt utterly shocked.

”Am I seeing things? The Cold Realm Ice Spine, famous for its defense... is dodging attacks from that Little Yu Dian Dog?”

Shang Duantie slapped himself. It hurt a little. Seemed he wasn’t dreaming.

”And that Little Yu Dian Dog’s Skills... I actually can’t make sense of them?”

”It’s probably an original Skill created by the Pet Beast. It’s rare, but not unheard of.”

Chopper’s gaze grew increasingly excited. ”But that’s not what’s caught my attention the most. That Little Yu Dian Dog’s Skill System is completely different from standard test-oriented training! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such an inspired fighting style!”

Shang Duantie said, ”Not bad. Looks like you’re paying the venue fee after all.”

Chopper: ”......”

”WHOA?!”

On the stage, Xue Ao abruptly froze. Yu Bao had suddenly stopped its Furious Sand Blade assault, causing Xue Ao, who had instinctively moved to dodge, to falter for a split second.

Immediately after, a Sandstorm surged forth, completely scattering the Frost Storm that had been shrouding the stage!

Only now did Xue Ao realize Yu Bao’s true intention:

’It never intended to take me out in one hit. Its focus was always on itself, waiting for a chance to reverse the unfavorable situation.’

However, it wasn’t a big problem!

After more than two weeks of analysis and reflection, it had already grasped the meta-solution—the sky.

As an Elemental Life, Xue Ao could float in the air for long periods, whereas Yu Bao could at most use Desert Concealment to stay airborne briefly.

As long as it maintained a safe distance in the air, Yu Bao wouldn’t be able to tou—

”Yu Bao, attack when it least expects it! Pursue with Sand Manipulation Technique!”

”WOOF!”

Xue Ao: ”???”

And so, with a bewildered expression, Xue Ao watched as Yu Bao used Suspended Sand to rapidly lunge toward it in the sky.

’If I remember correctly, isn’t that skill the Sand Manipulation Technique commonly used by Desert Swans...’

’Wait, aren’t you a dog? Did a texture bug happen?!’

High in the sky, the Furious Sand Blades were unleashed once more—

”SWISH SWISH SWISH!”

”CRACK” ”CRACK”

Selena’s mouth hung slightly open, her eyes wide, as she watched two of Xue Ao’s clones get shattered into pieces, while another landed in a panicked heap.

”QAQ WHOA!”

Xue Ao scrambled up and turned its head, only to be met with the sight of Yu Bao’s Palm Technique descending from the heavens—

This move was called Black Tiger Preying on Trapped Lamb!

”⌓‿⌓”

”SPLAT!”

With a dashing smile on its face, Yu Bao descended from the sky and pinned its senior to the ground on the spot.

’Senior has developed quite well. Its body is pretty sturdy.’

”WHOA! WHOA!”

’Brother Dog, no! Brother Dog, don’t!’

Xue Ao tried to use its smooth body to break free, but the stage then sank, forming a groove that perfectly matched its silhouette and wedged it in place.

Earth Force Field, activated!

”Whoa...” Xue Ao struggled feebly for a moment before finally losing all hope, unable to get up again.

[Assignable Attribute Points... 0.10]

”Woof woof.” Seeing the Points credited to its account, Yu Bao happily performed a little tail-chase on the spot.

Of course, as a wise, cultured, and dashing gentleman dog, it didn’t forget to offer a smile to its hard-working opponent: ”⌓‿⌓”

’Senior fought well, too!’

”Whoa...” Xue Ao, completely devoid of hope, buried its head in the ground.

’Twice. Defeated twice by the same opponent, and a rookie at that.’

’If word of this gets out, my career as a Pet Beast is over, isn’t it?’

”Don’t put yourself on such a high pedestal. Stay humble. Where you fall is where you get back up,” Selena said softly.

Her expression showed little emotion, as if she didn’t find losing to a talented junior to be a disgrace at all.

Recalling Xue Ao into her Beast Taming Space, she looked at Su Zhi and smiled. ”Congratulations, you won again.”

Su Zhi waved his hand. ”It was mainly Yu Bao who fought well.”

”The Tamer and the Pet support each other. Without you, Yu Bao wouldn’t have been able to reach its current level.”

Although she said this, the smile on Selena’s face didn’t fade; it grew even wider.

”Yes, congratulations on your win. And thank you for letting Xue Ao once again recognize its own shortcomings.”

”Thank you, Captain Sai and Xue Ao, for the lesson!” Su Zhi looked down at Yu Bao, and they exchanged a smile.

’Clearly, we were the ones who took the chance to farm a bunch of Points, yet in the end, it was Captain Sai thanking us. It feels a little embarrassing.’

”Now that the spar is over, let’s go to the summer camp.”

”...But Captain Sai, it’s already ten-forty. Wasn’t the summer camp supposed to start at ten-thirty...?”

”This session of the summer camp starts at ten-forty. My word is final.”

”Oh, okay.”

The group walked out. As they passed the metal Cyan Feathered Falcon statue at the entrance of the battle stadium, Yu Bao suddenly froze and looked up.

It hadn’t paid it any mind before from a distance.

But upon getting closer, a strange sense of resonance welled up from within its body.

Yu Bao was no stranger to this feeling, one might even say it was incredibly familiar—as an Earth Element Pet Beast, it felt this same resonance when controlling the Earth Element...

’But aren’t these just two big chunks of iron?’

Yu-the-Wise-One-Bao scratched its head in confusion.

’Could it be a shoddy construction, filled with earth on the inside?’

”Yu Bao? Let’s go.”

”Woof-aroo!” Hearing Su Zhi’s call, Yu Bao yipped in response and trotted after him, Bling Bling.

...

In the stadium’s spectator seats, the two Alliance Leaders were still replaying the spar in their minds, a ”brain-not-responding.jpg” look on their faces.

After a long silence, Chopper used Yu Bao’s scan information to look up the relevant files.

The Beast Tamer was named Su Zhi, from Huai City First Middle School, freshman year, no disciplinary infractions during his time at school... Total attendance progress: 0%?

He scrolled down to the ”Honors” section.

Oh, so he’s a member of the Alliance Youth Team, and the champion of the Huai City League’s high school freshman division. I guess it’s understandable that Xue Ao couldn’t win...

...Understandable my ass!

Are high schoolers these days that fierce? A freshman can beat the third Pet Beast of a Vice Alliance Leader candidate into this state??

Chopper stared blankly at the ceiling.

He suddenly thought of a possibility.

Selena had accepted an invitation to be a commentator in Huai City not long ago. After she came back, Xue Ao’s personality had completely changed.

’Don’t tell me... it was Yu Bao that beat it into a state of depression?’

At that moment, Shang Duantie expressionlessly pulled out a recording pen:

[”If Xiaosai can lose to a high schooler, I’ll do a handstand in a dress and wash my feet.”]

”Old Qiao, a true warrior dares to fulfill their promise.”

”Wait, where did you pull that out from?!”

”That’s not important.” Shang Duantie gave an innocent smile.

Chopper sat there, stunned.

Some people are living, yet they are already dead.
