Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

Seeing Su Zhi carefully put away the wild card, Peng Kai couldn’t help but smile.

”Alright, now for the second thing: punishing the villain.”

Su Zhi looked at Peng Kai. ”But...”

”Fang Lihua has played his cards well. If you were just a high school student, there really wouldn’t be much you could do. Even if you reported it and triggered an investigation from the Holy Order Alliance, you’d only get a bit of public sympathy at best.

”But you’re an Alliance Youth Team Member now.”

Peng Kai’s expression grew subtle. ”Every region on Blue Star has regulations stating that, all else being equal, Alliance Members and Alliance Youth Team Members can be given priority for advancement in tournaments to foster their development.

”After all, joining the Alliance and the team means shouldering the future of Blue Star. All the privileges you’re granted are to help cultivate you into a future leader, a pillar of our society.

”Fang Lihua blocked your tournament qualification, thereby obstructing the development of an Alliance Youth Team Member... So, couldn’t we make a case that he’s committed the crime of endangering the future of Blue Star?”

Su Zhi’s jaw dropped. ”You can actually pin a label like that on someone...”

”Heh, you’re still young. This kind of petty business is all about pinning labels on each other. The bigger the label, the better.”

Peng Kai chuckled. ”We could also report him for corruption and bribery. That’s a surefire tactic; they’re always guilty of something.”

”...” Su Zhi was left speechless.

’Looks like just being good at Beast Taming isn’t enough to be a good Beast Tamer. You also have to master the sophisticated art of conflict.’

Yu Bao was still sniffling, but he could tell from their conversation that they had a plan, so he wasn’t quite so sad anymore.

But stopping now would make him look childish, so he decided to keep crying for a little while longer.

But the spicy snack Diya offered him smelled really good.

He wanted to eat it, but that would make him seem not sad enough.

Diya, seeming to read his mind, took the initiative and stuffed it into his mouth.

Yu Bao pretended to resist, shaking his head a few times before acting as if he couldn’t refuse any longer. He kept crying while munching on the spicy snack.

Xiaoyue: ”...”

’Seriously, what goes through this silly puppy’s head all day...’

Peng Kai dialed the Holy Order Alliance’s tip line.

The Common Defense Alliance was divided into nine subsidiary alliances, each with its own responsibilities. The Holy Order Alliance was responsible for security and disciplinary inspection.

”Hello, this is Peng Kai from the Cui Feng Alliance, member ID... I’d like to make a report...”

”Yes... Huh?”

”...”

After a brief exchange, Peng Kai hung up.

Su Zhi asked curiously, ”Did it not work?”

”No, someone just beat me to it.”

Peng Kai gave him a complicated look. ”Well now, little bro. You have other powerful connections? And here I thought we had a special thing going.”

Su Zhi gazed blankly at the sky. ”I don’t think so...”

”You can’t say that. You’ve still got Hall Master Yan to cling to, even if that leg is a bit old and wrinkly~”

”I’ll kick you!”

The Fengyun Arena was filled with cheerful laughter.

”So, you’ve got the wild card, and it’s only a matter of time before Fang gets what’s coming to him. Problem solved.”

Peng Kai smiled and patted Su Zhi’s shoulder. ”Now you can focus on preparing for the city tournament without any distractions. Don’t overthink it.

”I’ll be waiting for you to bring home the championship!”

”Yeah!”

Su Zhi clenched his fists and bowed deeply to Peng Kai. ”I’ll do everything I can! I won’t let you down, senior!”

”It’s not about me. Just don’t disappoint yourself. That’s all. See you at the city tournament.”

”Goodbye, senior!”

...

After watching Su Zhi and Yu Bao walk a little distance away, Peng Kai waved to Shao Ya.

”Xiaoya, I’m counting on you to look after Fellow Daoist Su. He’s not as tough as he looks.”

”Got it!”

Shao Ya took a step forward, then turned back and gave a wave.

”Goodbye, Senior Peng Kai!”

”Yeah.”

Peng Kai crossed his arms, watching that shock of bright white hair bounce into the distance, slowing down to walk shoulder to shoulder with Su Zhi.

Yan Dingyi teased, ”What’s the matter? Jealous of your Fellow Daoist Su?”

”Hah. Women only slow down the speed at which I summon my Pet Beast.”

Peng Kai lifted his chin disdainfully, but couldn’t resist glancing at their retreating figures one more time.

”But Fellow Daoist Su is a lucky guy... Anyway, never mind him. Diya, get ready for extra practice.”

Diya took a tactical step back. ”Saa?!”

’Didn’t we already finish training for today?’

’Why do we have to do more!’

Peng Kai expressionlessly dangled the empty spicy snack wrapper.

”Saaa...” Diya lowered its head in regret.

The night was deep and pure, and the moonlight flowed through the shadows between the buildings like a faintly glowing stream.

The two deskmates walked along this stream, on the boundary between shadow and moonlight.

At the end of the stream, the girl stopped and turned, her hands behind her back. Her waterfall of white hair swung naturally with the movement.

”You’ve been following me this whole time. Don’t tell me you want to come home with me?” Shao Ya said, winking mischievously at Su Zhi.

Su Zhi had been lost in thought. Snapping out of it, he realized he’d unconsciously followed Shao Ya nearly all the way up to her apartment.

’Oh no, I’ve become Liu Yuhang.’

Shao Ya was standing on a higher step, making her half a head taller than Su Zhi. She leaned forward, looking down at him with a playful glint in her eyes.

”Are you really that clueless? Or are you just playing dumb?”

”Come on, don’t...” Su Zhi shrank back a little.

Shao Ya stopped teasing him and covered her mouth, stifling a giggle. The little strand of hair sticking up from her head swayed gently.

She looked at him with her azure eyes, her gaze softening.

”See you at the city tournament. I’ve got a surprise for you.”

”What kind of surprise?”

”Gotta run! Bye-bye!”

Shao Ya let out a little cry, and her voice was loud enough to switch on all the voice-activated lights in the stairwell.

”You and your stupid riddles...”

Su Zhi shook his head with a helpless smile, his gaze following the sound of her footsteps as they ascended.

When he could no longer hear her footsteps, Su Zhi’s gaze fell back to the ground.

”Woof.”

”Oh, right. I still haven’t assigned your points.”

Su Zhi blew warm air onto his hands, then grabbed Yu Bao’s head and gave it a vigorous ruffle—

’He hadn’t earned many Points from today’s qualifiers.’

’Because his opponents were all too weak...’

’After adapting to battles with Diya, any fight Yu Bao had against an opponent with a slightly lower Energy Value was an absolute blowout.’

’Even if his opponents in the qualifiers were the top students of their year... compared to a member of the national team, the gap was astronomical.’

Of course, Yu Bao had also encountered a truly formidable opponent.

In his final battle against Xue Li, he had to give it his all to secure victory.

Yu Bao loved that kind of fight!

”Done!” Su Zhi released Yu Bao’s head—

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Dog)

Power: 1.20

Agility: 1.62

Intelligence: 1.78

Constitution: 1.20

Perception: 1.73

Assignable Attribute Points: 0.00]

[Real-time Energy Value: 1080]

Su Zhi took the 0.08 Points he’d gained from the battle with Xue Li and distributed them between Agility, Intelligence, and Perception in a 2:3:3 ratio.

Yu Bao eagerly tested a few Skills. There was no visible improvement, but he felt that casting them was a little smoother.

”Woof woof woof...”

Yu Bao tried his Core Skill again.

And yet... he still couldn’t manage to use Thick Earth Blessing.

Seeing Yu Bao’s slightly dejected expression, Su Zhi chuckled and patted his head.

”Don’t be anxious. We just need to do what we can. The rest will come with time.”

”Woof!” Yu Bao nodded.

”Alright, let’s head home now.”

Su Zhi glanced back at the fifth floor of the building across the way. Seeing that the lights were on, he finally led Yu Bao home.
