Beast Taming: I Can Add Points

「The next morning—」

”WOOF! ARF!”

Yu Bao was up bright and early.

Practicing Desert Concealment in combination with the Earth Force Field, and cleaning up the floating dust in real-time, only consumed one bowl of feed per hour!

Su Zhi, who had lost the will to live, muffled his head with a pillow. ”...”

This was why one needed to think carefully before choosing the path of Beast Taming. You might just lose the right to sleep in.

Su Zhi sighed and forced himself out of bed.

He had been up until three in the morning yesterday, writing a skill framework, and had finally managed to reduce existing bugs without adding any new ones.

’I was hoping to catch up on sleep today, but that’s a bust.’ Being suspended from class and still having to wake up on time... He was probably the only one.

Yu Bao tilted his head. ”Woof-arf!”

”I know, I know. I’m no match for you.”

Su Zhi let out a breath, then grabbed Yu Bao’s head and gave it a vigorous ruffling—

[Pet Beast: Yu Bao (Yu Dian Dog)

Power: 1.12

Agility: 1.43

Intelligence: 1.58

Constitution: 1.13

Perception: 1.53

Assignable Attribute Points... 0.00]

[Real-time Energy Value: 790]

His Real-time Energy Value would soon break 800!

Yesterday, aside from the restricted skill training sessions led by Liu Junpo and Wanzi, Yu Bao and Diya had fought a total of forty matches—twenty in the morning and twenty in the afternoon.

The gains, it could be said, were huge!

He hadn’t won a single match...

Peng Kai’s tactics were incredibly diverse. He used a different strategy in nearly every match, making it extremely difficult for Yu Bao to summarize one fight and immediately formulate a counter.

But because of this, Yu Bao’s post-battle reflections were so intensive that his Points skyrocketed. He had raked in a whopping 0.12 in just one day.

’As expected of a national team’s Pet Beast. Leeching off him is so satisfying...’ Su Zhi mused.

Just then, Yu Bao poked him and reminded him, ”Arf-woof.”

”Holy crap!”

Su Zhi’s eyes flew open, all traces of sleepiness gone.

’Today’s the Alliance Youth Team entrance assessment!’

It was a good thing Yu Bao had woken him up. If he had actually slept through it... Tsk, tsk.

SMOOCH!

Su Zhi planted a big kiss on Yu Bao.

”You’re such a clever little guy!”

”Woof-arf.” Yu Bao scratched his head bashfully.

’Big Brother Xiaoyue always thinks I’m dumb, but I’m actually super smart~’

There was no time to waste. Su Zhi quickly pulled a formal suit out of his closet—one he hadn’t worn since his middle school graduation ceremony. Then he discovered... it had gotten too small...

·

”Xiaoshu, are you going out to train on a Saturday, too?”

”Yeah. Dad, Mom, I’m heading out.”

”Take care, Xiaoshu! Do you want to take Daddy’s love-filled bento box?”

”Uh, no thanks...”

Su Zhi shut the door behind him and left.

After agonizing over a pile of formal suits that he couldn’t fit into, Su Zhi had ultimately chosen his school uniform...

As he was going down the stairs, Su Zhi paused.

The main door to their building was broken, so it was always left ajar.

Su Zhi saw a slightly deeper shadow outside the door.

Looking up, he saw a gust of wind lift a sliver of bright white, only for it to be quickly tucked away.

Su Zhi, hands in his pockets, continued walking out without a change in expression.

The white-haired, blue-eyed girl suddenly appeared. ”BOO!”

”Whoa.” Su Zhi flinched.

You could say Shao Ya was childish, but she was actually quite mature. But if you called her mature, she would sometimes act just like a little kid.

Yu Bao ran out with a Bling Bling, looking left and right, but he didn’t see Big Brother Xiaoyue.

”Xiaoyue was too tired last night, so he’s resting in his Beast Taming Space now.”

Shao Ya patted Yu Bao’s head, then turned her gaze to Su Zhi.

”Where are you going today? Um... is it okay to ask?”

”Actually, I met a few big shots from the Common Defense Alliance at the Fengyun Arena a few days ago, and they want to recruit me for the Alliance Youth Team.”

Su Zhi said without hesitation, not hiding anything.

”Today is the entrance assessment. I have to go to the Huai City Alliance Headquarters.”

”Oh, is that so!”

The girl was surprised for a moment, the worry in her eyes instantly replaced by delight.

”Then you have to do your best in front of the examiners! If you can become a member of the Alliance Youth Team, you’ll get all sorts of rewards from the school, and it’ll be much easier to join the Alliance later on.”

”Mhm.”

”Well, I’m off to my quiz. Go, go, you can do it!”

Shao Ya, who had been nagging like a mom just a second ago, pumped her fist energetically and left for her quiz.

Su Zhi watched her leave Wudu New Village through the main gate, then walked quickly towards the west gate.

The entrance for Subway Line 1, the [Train Station]–[Huai City Sub-Alliance Headquarters] line, was there, providing a convenient way to reach his destination.

Located on the Loess Plateau, Huai City’s geological structure was quite fragile and not suitable for building a subway.

Thanks to the Common Defense Alliance gathering Earth Element Pet Beasts to reinforce the geology, the small mountain city finally managed to build its first subway line fifty-three years ago.

Today, Huai City has three subway lines, which have significantly reduced the pressure on other forms of transportation.

Su Zhi scanned his iris to board the subway—his Beast Taming Space was below Tier Three, making him an Apprentice Level Beast Tamer.

According to Common Defense Alliance regulations, Apprentice Level Beast Tamers under the age of 18 could ride the subway for free twice a day.

On the subway, Yu Bao was trembling all over, his expression serious, as if he were... holding in a fart.

”Bao, you don’t have to train even while riding the subway...”

”Woof-arf...” Yu Bao sniffled, feeling a little wronged.

He had already allocated his points, but he still couldn’t awaken his Core Skill.

Unlike other Pet Beasts, which had various non-core Racial Skills in addition to their Core Skill, Yu Bao’s only Racial Skill was his Core Skill. This would be true even if he evolved into a Yu Dian Farm Dog.

Xiaoyue’s Core Skill, Vine Fury, had been at Tier Two for a long time, and might break through to Tier Three any day now.

But he couldn’t even learn his own Core Skill...

”It’s okay. First-year high school Yu Dian Dogs normally don’t train Thick Earth Blessing. It has high requirements for physical strength and also demands a certain degree of Elemental Perception.

”Besides, the path we’re on now clearly isn’t the traditional path for a Yu Dian Dog, is it?”

Su Zhi said earnestly, ”The Core Skill isn’t the ’core’ of our Skill System, it’s just one part of it. There’s no need to rush.”

Pet Beasts have a natural desire to awaken their Core Skills, and even though Yu Bao was no ordinary dog, he was no exception.

This was precisely why traditional Skill Systems were centered around the Core Skill.

”Woof-arf~” Yu Bao nodded, as if a great realization had dawned on him.

’Even so, I still want to learn it!’ he thought.

Su Zhi shook his head and chuckled. ”So competitive. You’re not leaving any room for others to survive, are you...”

Just then, the subway’s sweet-voiced announcer broadcasted:

”Dear passengers, we have arrived at the terminal station, [Train Station]. Please take all of your...”

The few remaining passengers on the train got up to leave. Su Zhi and Yu Bao froze for a moment, their brains failing to process.

Then, the Beast Tamer and his Envoy’s Pet both stared wide-eyed.

’Goddammit, we went the wrong way!’

·

Ten minutes later, Su Zhi and Yu Bao were waiting for a subway going in the opposite direction.

This time, he checked the direction.

”Okay, let’s go. This time it’s not the wrong way...”

”Woof-arf...”

”Sorry, sorry~ Excuse me, coming through~!”

Just as they were about to board, a delicate, girly voice came from behind them—

Starting tomorrow, I’ll be updating with ten-thousand-character Chapters daily, and I’ll keep it up until I collapse. Surely no one has trouble reading that much in a day, right?
