After I Fully Prepared for the Apocalypse, the Ungrateful Cried with Regret

First, she had the Little Zombie Rats select four buildings, each under 200 square meters and suitable for her ”Instant Explosion” Skill.

Before long, the small, timed speakers attached to the four rats’ backs began to sound off.

It was the same song as before: ”Good Fortune Comes.”

Hearing the human voices, the zombies inside the city grew agitated and began to swarm toward the four buildings.

The Puppet Zombie was quite dedicated to its task. It shoved a whole swarm of zombies inside, even cramming them into the gaps near the ceilings.

Only when the building was so full they were about to spill out the doorway did it use its Gold Element Superpower to seal the entrance shut...

Over forty minutes later, the four buildings were packed with zombies.

After the four Little Zombie Rats and the Puppet Zombie had departed, several more muffled explosions echoed through Crestfall.

[System has detected that the Host has used the ”Instant Detonation” Skill 4 times, killing 16,378 zombies and obtaining 16,378 System Experience Points!]

Nina Jacobs’s lips curled into a smile when she heard the System’s notification.

Four times the number from yesterday.

And as long as she stayed near Crestfall, her System Experience Points would continue to rise steadily.

That was the shared experience from the Puppet Zombie.

When Nina Jacobs returned to the safe house, she found the nearby roads also littered with zombie corpses.

It was Wayne Warner’s handiwork.

”This is a first, getting this many Experience Points from zombies.”

Nina Jacobs took a bath using the water Lexy had provided.

She could also see what the Puppet Zombie was doing through the eyes of the four Little Zombie Rats.

The surrounding zombies let their guard down completely around the Puppet Zombie. As soon as they passed by, it would crush their skulls with its sharp claws.

Even Mutated Zombies were no exception.

The Puppet Zombie was like a tireless machine, constantly killing the zombies around it.

Watching scene after scene of the slaughter, Nina Jacobs, who was about to eat, chose to temporarily block the feed.

For her first dinner in the safe house, Nina Jacobs chose to have barbecue.

She had collected a lot of frozen meat from a warehouse in Harrowfeld. Such perishable goods couldn’t be traded, so she decided to eat them herself.

Lexy, faced with a feast of chicken breast and fish, was already eating so intently it couldn’t lift its head.

Nina Jacobs spent another six days like this.

If Felix Finch hadn’t sent people to find her, she would have been reluctant to leave the vicinity of Crestfall.

In those seven days, she had averaged nearly 40,000 Experience Points per day, and the zombie population in Crestfall had been reduced by over 300,000.

Although that was still a far cry from the total of four million zombies, her understanding of the Puppet Zombie and the Puppetry Technique had deepened.

At the very least, she was confident the Puppet Zombie wouldn’t run into any problems for the next ten days.

On the way back to Tomorrow Base, Nina Jacobs learned that the relocation of Lornwood Base was in its final stages.

That was why Felix Finch had sent Reginald Sutton, Silas Crowley, and Holly Morgan to find her.

”Everything’s going smoothly, except I heard Tristan Lynch and his group have gone missing,”

Silas Crowley said.

Tristan Lynch, Corisande, Lachlan, Damian, and Shane Shepherd—all five of them disappeared together.

”Did they disappear from inside Lornwood Base?”

Nina Jacobs was currently on her way back to Tomorrow Base.

”Two days ago, someone saw the five of them leave the base together. They haven’t been seen since.

But I heard from Reinhard Caldwell that a group of outsiders arrived at Lornwood Base a few days ago, and they don’t seem to have any intention of going to Tomorrow Base,”

Silas Crowley replied.

’Outsiders?’

”How many people are in that group?”

Nina Jacobs immediately considered a possibility. These people were probably from the Aegis Conclave.

”Not many, maybe thirty or so.

But according to Reinhard Caldwell’s observations, they’re likely all Superpower Users.”

The relocation of personnel from Lornwood Base was completely voluntary; they wouldn’t force anyone who wanted to stay behind.

So, Reinhard Caldwell had only briefly greeted the group of outsiders. It seemed they had settled into Lornwood Base for the past two days.

”It’s still early. Let’s make a trip to Lornwood Base first,”

Nina Jacobs said.

’If they really are from the Aegis Conclave, they’re probably here to inspect the results of their main force’s prior efforts.’

”Could they be from the same organization as Tristan Lynch and his group?”

Reginald Sutton immediately changed their route.

”It’s possible,”

Nina Jacobs replied.

’Perhaps those people have already learned the truth from Tristan Lynch and the others, and they’re just holding back, afraid to act rashly.’

”How about we go scope out that organization?”

Silas Crowley said.

When he first met Tristan Lynch’s group with Nina Jacobs, they had indeed mentioned an organization.

Later, they continued to mistake Nina Jacobs for a member of their organization named ”Zephyra.” It wasn’t until she helped them kill Achilles Renner, who had tried to make them take the fall, that they started calling her Nina Jacobs...

Although ”Zephyra” was most likely a name Nina Jacobs had made up on the spot.

He believed that Tristan Lynch and his group had left because they now knew the truth.

Nina Jacobs didn’t object. She said,

”If we want to scope them out, we can’t just ask directly. We’ll have to play it by ear once we get there.”

She still didn’t know who the newly arrived outsiders at Lornwood Base were.

It was also possible they had nothing to do with Tristan Lynch and his group.

”Understood. Don’t worry, I’m a pro when it comes to acting,”

Silas Crowley joked.

When the group arrived at Lornwood Base, the vehicles for that day’s survivor relocation were just preparing to leave.

Following Nina Jacobs’s instructions, Reginald Sutton entered the base through a side gate.

Reinhard Caldwell hadn’t expected Nina Jacobs to show up at this time, but seeing that she was safe and sound, he breathed a sigh of relief.

”Here are the photos Mr. Crowley asked for. I’ve already had my men collect them.

There are 37 people in total. Their strength is unknown. They claim to be looking for someone in Lornwood Base and will be leaving in a few days.”

Reinhard Caldwell took out the photos Silas Crowley had asked him to take earlier and explained.

When Nina Jacobs saw the photos, her gaze quickly fell on one person’s face.

’It’s her?’

Nina Jacobs stared at Veronica Ziegler.

Previously, Veronica Ziegler had been at Mornfell searching for the ”Inheritor,” and had even faked an injury to live among the Bishop Clan for a long time.

Later, she joined forces with Alistair White to help him find the Mystic Ice Core. However, she had left the mountain early and probably didn’t know what happened afterward.

But remembering how Meridia Base had almost been taken over by the Zieglers, Nina Jacobs didn’t find it strange that she was here.

After all, Veronica Ziegler was a member of the Ziegler Family, and Veridia and Keldorn are adjacent.

’But what is her purpose in coming here?’

”You recognize her?”

Silas Crowley asked after Reinhard Caldwell had left.

”Yes, she’s from the Silthos Ziegler Family.”

As soon as Nina Jacobs finished speaking, Silas Crowley’s expression turned grim.

”The Ziegler Family is part of the Mystic Sect. Could that organization be the Mystic Sect?”

Silas Crowley now thought it was highly likely.

Nina Jacobs raised an eyebrow. Silas Crowley wasn’t slow on the uptake.

”I’ve met this person before, but I was using an alias at the time,”

Nina Jacobs said.

Thankfully, these photos had allowed her to spot Veronica Ziegler in advance.

”No problem. Just tell us what alias you used, and we’ll play along.”

Reginald Sutton had only half-understood the situation, but he gathered that someone in the other group recognized Nina Jacobs.

”Yes. These people’s identities are sensitive.

We should still go meet them.”

Nina Jacobs stepped out of the car. It wasn’t for Tristan Lynch and his group, but because she didn’t want the current situation in Keldorn to attract the attention of people with ulterior motives.

Reinhard Caldwell had already figured out what those people were up to.

They were indeed looking for someone, and for the past two days, they seemed to have been trying to find clues from lists in the administration building.

However, all the records in Lornwood Base had already been wiped clean on Nina Jacobs’s orders.
