My Youth Began With Him

“Hm? Is he? I didn’t notice.” Zhu Lingling’s thoughts were never on Liu Ze. Naturally, she thought it was a little odd that Huo Mian suddenly brought it up.

“This Liu Ze person… If it wasn’t for Han Xu, I would have forgotten about him. He’s a transfer student, and he didn’t stay in our class for very long. Not only that, a lot of our classmates probably don’t even recognize him anymore. Even if we were to have a class reunion together, he shouldn’t be meeting with us. I think he came with an ulterior motive,” Huo Mian said worriedly.

“Are you suspicious of Liu Ze?” Zhu Lingling finally understood what Huo Mian meant.

“Are you saying there’s nothing weird about him?”

“That’s not what I mean; I just think he is an outsider that has nothing to do with us. He’s got nothing on us even if he shows up. But, there’s nothing wrong with being cautious, better safe than sorry.” Lingling laughed a little and continued, “But, if he really decides to look for you at South Side, you better be careful! You wouldn’t want your Mr. Qin to be jealous!”

“I know,” Huo Mian chuckled back.

After the reunion, Huo Mian returned home to South Hill Manor after dropping Zhu Lingling off first.

Qin Chu and the kids had not returned yet, so with some time on her hands, Huo Mian decided to pay a visit to her mother’s place.

Zhixin went out with his friends. Home alone, Yang Meirong was delighted to see her daughter.

“How come you came alone, Mian? Where is Pudding and Little Bean?”

“Qin Chu took them to learn skating, they’re not back yet.”

“Oh my, they are still so young, why make them learn that? It must be so tiring! You parents these days are too much!” “We didn’t make them take the lessons, Mom. They took the lessons willingly,” Huo Mian explained with a smile.

“Oh, alright then. Have you eaten yet?”

Yes:，

“Okay, I will go and get you some fruits, I just bought some strawberries this morning.” Yang Meirong got up and went to the kitchen to prepare the strawberries.

Without much to do, Huo Mian began flipping through the news on her phone. She couldn’t help but notice that there had been a lot of negative news about the Huo Corporation. On the other hand, Huo Siqian had remained relatively quiet with no sudden big movements. It didn’t quite suit his style, but perhaps he was secretly plotting something grandiose?

Huo Mian thought back on the rather baffling conversation they had, and she still felt unsettled, as she had no idea what he knew.

“I’m not nagging you, Mian. But, you’re still so young, why are you working so hard? Don’t overlook your family, okay?

In all these TV shows I’ve been watching, all of the husbands and wives ended up in a divorce because they are always busy with work.”

Huo Mian picked up a ripe strawberry and took a bite. “Mom, TV shows are just for show. Real-life isn’t like that, at least not for Qin Chu and I,” Huo Mian said as she leaned on her mother.

“Don’t say that. Qin Chu is still young too. It’s time for the two of you to think about a second pregnancy.”

“Mom, you can’t rush these things. Can you stop hurrying us?”

“Zhixin’s been telling me there are many young and pretty girls working at Qin Chu’s company. Those women dress up every day, just looking for the opportunity to get close to their boss. Girls these days are very materialistic, and all they want is money. They are not like back then, so you must be careful for yourself, you understand? You need to keep an eye out for the butterflies around Qin Chu.”

“Haha, okay, I will keep on the lookout.” Huo Mian wanted to laugh out loud, but given the serious look on her mother’s face, she didn’t have the heart to say otherwise.

“If it were up to me, you should hurry and have a son, to keep your place in the family.”

“What are you saying, Mom. It’s not like Qin Chu’s family has a royal throne to pass down, why do I need to have a son?” Huo Mian didn’t know whether she should laugh or cry.
