My Youth Began With Him

Huo Siqian did not give Huo Mian a direct answer. Instead, he looked Huo Mian in the eye and said, “Mian, do you know why the Doctor Lan, the midwife that brought you to the world, and her family is missing?”

Huo Mian did not say a word as she seemed to have known the answer.

“They were already…”

“Enough. Don’t say another word.” Before Huo Siqian could finish, Huo Mian brutally stopped him as she already knew what the answer was. Even so, she could not bear to hear him utter the words.

Who could take on the pressure of knowing that someone loved you so much that he was willing to kill for you?

Huo Mian was able to remain calm but she was still a moral person.

“Huo Siqian, are you trying to blame me for everything you did? Are you trying to say that Song Yishi, Jiang Linyue, and even Mo Xue’er’s deaths are all because of me? Now you’re adding Doctor Lan to the list. How miserable do you want me to feel or are you expecting me to view human life as naught?”

“I don’t mean it that way. I just want you to understand me better.”

“I understand what you mean. I also put it straight with you. We will never be together. Can you just give up? Even if I didn’t have Qin Chu, I would never be with you. You need to understand that I will never love a man like you.”

“A man like me? What am I like? Do you think I willingly chose this path? Mian, you need to know life pushed me in this direction. If you knew my past, if you knew what I have been through, if you knew how I suffered in my childhood, you’d understand…” Huo Siqian smiled bitterly and said.

“No. I don’t want to understand. I’m incapable of understanding how you behave like that. No one has a painless life. You aren’t the only one in this world that has a sad past. At the end of the day, these are all your excuses for hurting others so they don’t have any real meaning… I don’t want to have any connections or interactions with you. I don’t care what grudges you and my husband hold against each other, regardless if it’s personal or business, it’s not my problem. Also, I will always be standing on my husband’s side so you will always be my enemy.”

Huo Mian’s ability to remain composed was respectable and frightening as she could utter the most merciless words. Whenever Huo Siqian hears Huo Mian say this kind of things to him, his heart would ache.

He remained silent. He fixed his eyes on her. It seemed like he couldn’t utter a word more to her even though he had so much in mind that he wanted to express.

“Don’t try to exonerate all your crimes in front of me now… There’s no way I will forgive you. No matter what you do now, I will never forget how you framed Qin Chu and separated us for four years. Even when I was giving birth, he was not able to be by my side. That’ll always be his regret and that is all thanks to you. You say you love me but there is no way I can accept that baggage you have. Maybe you really do love me, but I can’t accept it. I really can’t.”

“Mian, do you think Qin Chu is a trustworthy person?”

“Of course,” Huo Mian said with no hesitation.

“Then, if you were to find out now that he withheld some truth from you, will you be sad? Haha,” Huo Siqian said with an unfathomable smile.

“What are you trying to say?” Huo Mian looked at him with a serious face.
