Chapter 106: Chapter 106: The Fury of the Parents’ Committee

The three bigwigs of the elite class’s parent-teacher association—the president and vice presidents—were extremely displeased.

In the aristocratic atmosphere of the elite class, all the children were of high caliber. This was the time to build networks for these children; in the future, Su City would be their world!

But now, the child of some down-and-out janitor was getting into the elite class.

What if that Qin Niannian brought bad habits with her? Wouldn’t the other children be led astray?

And another thing—her mother cleans toilets! She must be covered in germs and viruses, which she’d definitely pass on to that Qin Niannian kid. Then Qin Niannian would bring them to the classroom... The very thought of it was unbearable!

The three of them created a private chat group specifically to discuss their plan.

President Ms. Zhang: ”As the Executive Vice President of the Golden Sparrow Silver Alliance, I’ve had frequent contact with the Han Family over the years. Judging by that Han Qianqian, they’re nothing but nouveau riche. This Han Biwei ran away from home years ago. What kind of decent daughter could she possibly raise?”

Vice President Mr. Zhang: ”Say no more. I am firmly against this. As you all know, I just joined the planning department at Dongshen Financial Group. As a department head there, I’ve already asked around. Han Biwei really is one of the company’s janitors! It’s disgusting!”

Vice President Brother Niu: ”Heh heh, if you two can’t handle it, I, Niu Zhen Tian, can use some... special methods. You both know what my relationship is with South City Old Yama!”

The three bigwigs quickly came up with a plan: ”Start soft, then play hardball!”

”Make Han Biwei back down on her own!”

”Perfect. The elite class’s Teacher Chen has a birthday coming up. We’ll scare her off with the cost of the birthday gift!”

At this moment, Han Biwei knew nothing about the parent-teacher association’s plotting. She was still thrilled that Niannian would be able to get into the elite class.

To take care of the enrollment, she gritted her teeth and requested a day off.

”I’m sorry. I know I just joined Dongshen Financial Group, and I’m in charge of the very crucial task of cleaning the restrooms, but I really have something important to do. I hope I can take some time off...”

Han Biwei was anxious. ’Asking for time off right after starting a new job... no company would put up with that,’ she thought.

Just as she’d feared, the junior supervisor from Dongshen’s logistics department started yelling the moment he heard her request. ”Han Biwei? Do you have any idea how a workplace operates? Or do you just look down on this janitor position? I know you used to be a rich young miss, and you’re still young and pretty. Doing this kind of work must be humiliating! But! You signed a contract!”

The supervisor yelled furiously a few more times before finally shouting, ”Don’t bother coming in!”

Then he hung up.

Han Biwei bit her lip, feeling genuinely sorry for causing trouble.

’But there’s no other way,’ she thought. ’Niannian’s situation is more important!’

But to her surprise, before she could even leave her small courtyard, she received another call from Dongshen.

It was the same logistics supervisor.

”Miss Han, it’s Xiaoliu! I am calling to formally apologize to you. I’m so sorry, I was wrong. I didn’t know the situation earlier. My attitude was terrible.”

Supervisor Liu sounded like he was on the verge of tears.

Han Biwei was startled. ”No, I’m the one who was in the wrong. I shouldn’t have—”

”No, no, I was wrong! Miss Han, please, feel free to take a vacation—a paid vacation! It’s a new company policy. Also, your work assignment has been adjusted. You now have an exclusive restroom!”

The call left Han Biwei utterly baffled.

’A janitor getting an ”exclusive restroom”?’ she mused.

She shook her head, picked up a bottle of milk from the side, and took a sip. Her eyes widened. ”This milk is delicious! Where did Brother Tianxuan order this fresh milk from?”

The person who delivered the milk this morning was mysterious. Not only did they deliver it right on time, but they had also brought four bottles at once!

Each bottle had a name written on it.

One for Niannian, one for Han Biwei, and there were even bottles for Han Qian Jun and Jiang Wan Jun.

Picking up her milk gleefully, Han Biwei felt like her luck was finally turning around.

’I not only kept my job, but I even got paid leave!’

’Dongshen Financial Group really is the top conglomerate in Su City.’

She left, hailed a cab to Tianjiao Primary School, and immediately went to visit Teacher Wang.

Because of what had happened last time, Teacher Wang now treated her as warmly as if she were her own daughter.

”I’m getting old, and the regular class can’t offer a child like Niannian a better environment. This time, I was the one who insisted on recommending Niannian for the elite class!”

As Teacher Wang spoke, sipping her tea, her expression grew serious. ”But getting into the elite class... there might be some trouble!”

”Teacher Wang, please, just tell me. Whatever paperwork I need to do, or even if I need to give a gift, it’s no problem!” Han Biwei said hastily.

Teacher Wang pulled her out of the office by the hand and warned her in a low voice on the playground, ”Niannian will definitely get into the elite class; that’s the school’s decision. The problem is the elite class’s parent-teacher association!”

”That bunch... every last one of them is either rich or powerful. They’re always going on about how the children in the elite class have an ’aristocratic atmosphere,’ and they say things like ’aristocratic temperament must be cultivated from a young age.’ In their eyes, given your current situation, you’re just a pauper. So of course they’ll think Niannian isn’t high-caliber enough and will be a bad influence on their children!”

Han Biwei was furious. ”That’s nonsense! My Niannian is better behaved than anyone!”

Teacher Wang gave a bitter smile. ”Of course I know that, but the PTA is just that vile. And then there’s the elite class’s homeroom teacher, Teacher Chen... Heh, her cousin is the secretary to the Governor of Su City! She loves schmoozing with those parents, so I doubt she’s too happy about this either.”

Han Biwei frowned. ”Looks like I really will have to give that Teacher Chen a gift.”

Teacher Wang shook her head repeatedly. ”You can’t afford to play that game. I heard she wasn’t feeling well a while back and just mentioned it once in the parent group chat. That same day, she received over twenty nutritional supplements—South Sea bird’s nest, Changbai Ginseng, you name it. Two of the parents were busy and didn’t send anything in time. And what happened? Heh, Teacher Chen made sarcastic comments about them in the group for ages, and their children were kept after school that day to sweep the hallways!”

Han Biwei was dumbfounded. ”But this is a school!”

Teacher Wang’s face was full of bitterness. ”It’s not like it was in your day. When you were young, schools were sacred, clean places.”

She sighed. ”I’ve been unable to stand it for a long time, but what can I do? This is just how society is now.”

Just as she was speaking, Han Biwei’s phone vibrated. She had received a message from the elite class’s parent-teacher association!
