Celestial Night Emperor

Chapter 103: Chapter 103: Fresh Milk

Qin Tianxuan left the logistics center. On the way, he found a 24-hour convenience store where he planned to buy a case of whole milk for Niannian.

He had conquered the Northern Domain and bled on the battlefield, but he’d never imagined he would be raising a child. He had absolutely no experience. Lately, he’d been glued to his phone, cramming on the basics of childcare. That was how he learned that children should drink a glass of whole milk every day to boost their immune systems.

As he picked up a case of milk and carefully inspected the production date, the night-shift supermarket owner grew impatient. ”They’re all fresh, Sir. Are you gonna buy it or not?”

Qin Tianxuan shook his head. ”This one’s close to its expiration date. I’d like a fresher case.”

The owner gave a dry laugh. ”Look, Sir, all the milk is pretty much the same. Go check any other store, even the big supermarkets. It all comes out of a warehouse. There’s no such thing as ’fresh.’ Heh, if you want it that fresh, why don’t you raise your own cow!”

The owner was clearly annoyed and said this on purpose.

He sized up the man buying milk in the middle of the night, figured he wasn’t rich, and added, ”You need money to drink freshly milked milk!”

Qin Tianxuan smiled. ”On the frontiers of the Northern Domain, people in any given village raise dairy cows. It doesn’t have much to do with money.”

Oh, really?

The supermarket owner laughed as well. ”That’s the countryside. You’re in the big city now. How many people do you see raising cows at home here?”

Qin Tianxuan said nothing, simply pulling out his phone. ”Chen Haobei? Are you on duty today?”

The twelve presidents of the Dongshen Financial Group worked in shifts, 24/7. Chen Haobei replied instantly, ”Yes, Sir. We take turns being on duty around the clock, always ready for your instructions!”

”Good. My daughter is about to join an honors class...”

Before Qin Tianxuan could finish, Chen Haobei was already congratulating him profusely. ”The young miss is truly remarkable! I can’t get my own kid to study no matter what I do. Congratulations to the young miss on getting into the elite honors class!”

Qin Tianxuan couldn’t hide his pride. ”Of course she is. My daughter’s a genius.”

Even for the legendary Night Emperor, when it came to his daughter, he was as proud and delighted as any ordinary father.

After a bit more small talk, Qin Tianxuan got to the point. ”Niannian is starting in the honors class, so she’ll be under a lot of academic pressure. I want to make sure she has the best nutrition. Can you arrange for some fresh milk?”

Chen Haobei didn’t even have to think. ”No problem. Dongshen has subsidiaries with a full range of equipment, as well as top-of-the-line dairy cows imported from Holland.”

Qin Tianxuan was pleased. ”How soon can you get fresh milk to Niannian?”

Chen Haobei replied instantly, ”I’ll arrange it right now. Where are you, Sir? Would you like to have a taste first?”

”I’m at the Meijia Supermarket on the street by the logistics center,” Qin Tianxuan said casually. ”If you can get it ready now, I’ll give it a taste.”

”Please wait a moment, Sir. I’ll arrange it immediately!”

After the call ended, the supermarket owner, who had been smoking and playing the card game Fight the Landlord, dropped his mouse and stared. ”Holy shit. I’ve seen my share of posers, but I’ve never seen an acting performance quite like yours, Sir!”

Qin Tianxuan just smiled without saying a word.

The owner snickered. ”You make it sound so real. Fresh milk made on-site? What are they gonna do, drag a cow over here for you to sample? Yeah, right. That’ll be the day.”

Again, Qin Tianxuan said nothing. He didn’t need to explain himself to a supermarket owner.

But the owner was bored and decided to keep pushing. ”If you can actually get a cow brought here and have it milked right in front of me, I’ll let you take anything you want from my store, for free!”

Just as he said that, the ROARING sound of an engine came from outside.

A massive container truck pulled to a stop.

Chen Haobei’s car, an understated Rolls-Royce, pulled up right behind it. He jumped out and rushed into the supermarket.

”Sir!” Chen Haobei bowed. ”I’ve selected one of our finest dairy cows, along with a full set of pasteurization and processing equipment. We’ve temporarily installed it in the truck and are ready to demonstrate for you!”

He finished with a wave of his hand.

A side panel on the container truck slid open, revealing an intricate, miniature milk processing plant.

A beautiful dairy cow stood inside, serenaded by the sound of a symphony.

The cigarette fell from the supermarket owner’s lips. His eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head.

Chen Haobei continued his presentation. ”Sir, this cow’s name is Lucy. She was personally selected from over two thousand head of cattle at our Dongshen dairy facility. We’ll have a glass ready for you in a moment!”

A short while later, a glass of fresh, pasteurized milk was delivered.

Qin Tianxuan took a sip and nodded. ”This will do. Niannian wakes up at 6:40 AM and leaves for school at 7:20. Arrange for the milk to be delivered to the courtyard at 7:00 AM sharp.”

Behind Chen Haobei, two glamorous female secretaries, despite the dark circles under their eyes, meticulously jotted down Qin Tianxuan’s every word.

The supermarket owner’s mouth was still hanging wide open.

He rubbed his eyes, wondering if he was dreaming!

’Could they... could they really pull something like this off?’

’Damn, the things rich people do... It’s completely unimaginable.’

When Qin Tianxuan turned to leave, the owner snapped out of it, his face flushing red. ”You’re the man, boss. I lost. The... the stuff in the store... please, take your pick.”

Qin Tianxuan glanced at the owner. ”You’re a man of your word.” He turned to leave, saying to Chen Haobei on his way out, ”This owner is interesting. Give his business a boost.”

The big boss had spoken, and Chen Haobei dared not be negligent. After respectfully seeing Qin Tianxuan off, he turned, pulled out a business card, and handed it to the stunned supermarket owner. ”I’m Chen Haobei from Dongshen. If you need anything, call this number.”

He then turned to one of the glamorous secretaries and ordered, ”Buy everything in this supermarket. You can do whatever you want with it all.”

Clutching the business card, the supermarket owner was so ecstatic he nearly fainted.

’Dongshen... The president of the Dongshen Financial Group!!’

’He actually gave me his card and said he’d help me out... My God, did I just win the lottery?’

For Qin Tianxuan, the night’s events were but a minor interlude. But for the owner of a small supermarket, this chance encounter would change his destiny.

Qin Tianxuan returned to Frost Plum Courtyard. A light was still on in one of the side rooms, waiting for him.

He gently pushed the door open and saw Han Biwei sound asleep, slumped over a small table. She must have been waiting for a long time before finally succumbing to her drowsiness.

Qin Tianxuan picked up a blanket and draped it over her shoulders.

Weiwei stirred, waking groggily. ”Ah, Brother Tianxuan, you’re back?”
