Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 147: Chapter 147 You have a fever

He carefully loosened his hold on her wrist.

”...Sorry.” His voice came out lower than usual. ”I pulled too hard.”

Daisy blinked several times before quickly shaking her head, telling him it wasn’t his fault. Her cheeks were slightly pink but she made no attempt to panic or pull away dramatically.

Instead, she seemed to remember why she had come. Her expression immediately turned concerned.

She gently raised one hand and placed the back of it against his forehead.

Alessio stiffened.

Her palm was cool and soft. The contrast against his heated skin was striking, sending a shiver through him.

Daisy frowned.

He’s really warm...

Without thinking, she touched his forehead again, comparing the temperature with her own. Her brows knitted together even more.

Then she looked directly into his eyes. There was unmistakable worry in hers.

Alessio quietly watched her. His lips curved into the faintest smile.

”I’m fine,” he said softly.

Daisy kept the back of her hand against his forehead for another second before slowly pulling it away.

Her brows remained knitted together. She looked straight into his eyes and raised both hands.

You have a fever.

Alessio nodded calmly. ”I know.” His tone was so casual that it almost sounded like he was talking about the weather. ”It’ll be gone by tomorrow.”

Daisy frowned. She quickly gestured again.

No. You need to let the doctor examine you.

Alessio shook his head without hesitation. ”I’m fine.”

Daisy blinked. Then gestured more firmly.

You’re not fine.

He gave a helpless smile. ”I’ve had worse.”

Daisy signed quickly, her movements sharp.

That doesn’t matter.

”I’m used to it.”

Daisy’s hands moved again, firm and insistent.

Still no.

”You worry too much.”

Daisy puffed her cheeks slightly.

She folded her arms across her chest and stared at him with obvious dissatisfaction. Her eyes narrowed and her lips pressed together in a thin line.

Meanwhile, Alessio was aware of something else entirely.

She was still sitting on his lap.

She hadn’t realized it. Or perhaps she was simply too focused on his fever to notice.

He looked down slightly. She was so light that he barely felt her weight. One of her hands still rested lightly against his shoulder to steady herself. A loose strand of her caramel-colored hair had slipped forward, brushing against his chest every time she moved.

His heartbeat quietly sped up.

...Does she like sitting here?

The ridiculous thought crossed his mind before he immediately dismissed it.

No. She’s just worried.

His gaze returned to her face.

She looked unusually serious. Her brows were slightly furrowed. Her lips were pressed together in determination.

It should have made her look intimidating.

Instead, he found it incredibly adorable. Without realizing it, a faint smile appeared on his lips.

Daisy caught him smiling.

She blinked.

Why is he smiling?

She was trying to convince him to see a doctor. Was he laughing at her?

She immediately gestured again, this time with even more determination.

Why? You’ll feel better if the doctor checks you. Please let him examine you.

Alessio slowly shook his head. ”I don’t need him.”

Daisy stared at him.

Then at his warm forehead. Then back into his eyes. She frowned even harder.

This man... was impossible.

No wonder Rafael had called him a stubborn child.

She let out a silent sigh before placing both hands on her hips. Her expression clearly said—I’m not giving up.

She pointed at him, then at the door, then made a gesture that clearly meant doctor.

He stared at her for a long moment. Then he let out a quiet sigh. ”Can you stop convincing me?”

Daisy shook her head firmly.

He looked at her determined face. The way her eyes were fixed on him. The way her hands were planted on her hips. The way she refused to back down.

He felt something warm spread through his chest. It wasn’t the fever.

”...Fine,” he said slowly. ”I’ll let him check.”

Daisy’s eyes lit up. She nodded happily, a small smile spreading across her face.

But before she could stand up, Alessio gently caught her wrist.

She looked down at him in confusion.

His green eyes met hers, soft and warm despite the fever.

”Thank you,” he said quietly. ”For coming.”

Daisy blinked. Then she smiled softly and nodded. She pointed at him, then at her heart, then made a small gesture that said you’re welcome.

Alessio released her wrist.

However, before she could stand up, the door swung open.

Rafael stepped inside with a triumphant grin. ”Okay, I convinced the doctor to—”

He stopped mid-sentence, eyes widened.

Daisy was sitting on Alessio’s lap.

His brother’s arm was still loosely around her waist, as if he had been holding her there. Her hand rested lightly against his shoulder.

Rafael’s jaw dropped.

He blinked. Then blinked again. ”...Did I interrupt something?”

Daisy’s eyes widened in panic. She scrambled off Alessio’s lap so quickly that she nearly tripped over her own feet. Her face was bright red, spreading from her cheeks down to her neck.

She waved her hands frantically.

No! No! Nothing! I was just—he had a fever—I was checking—

Rafael’s grin slowly returned, wider than before.

”Uh-huh. Sure.” He looked at Alessio, his eyes sparkling with mischief. ”Bro, you’re sick. And yet you still managed to—”

Alessio shot him a look. A single cold glare that could freeze fire.

Rafael immediately raised both hands. ”Okay, okay. I’ll stop.”

Alessio calmly looked at his younger brother. ”There was nothing.”

”Mm-hmm.” Rafael nodded exaggeratedly. ”Absolutely nothing.”

Then Alessio spoke in his usual calm voice. ”Go. Call the doctor.”

Rafael blinked. ”...You agreed?” There was genuine surprise in his voice.

Alessio simply nodded once. ”I did.”

For a moment, Rafael just stood there. Then a huge grin spread across his face.

His eyes immediately shifted toward Daisy.

There was no need to ask who had managed to do what none of them could. He gave her a discreet thumbs-up.

”Daisy... You’re amazing.”

Daisy blinked in confusion, then smiled shyly, lowering her head in embarrassment.

Rafael chuckled and headed toward the door. ”I’ll get the doctor. Don’t go anywhere.”

He disappeared through the doorway.

The room fell silent again.

Daisy stood awkwardly near the window, her hands clasped nervously in front of her.

Alessio watched her for a moment, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

”You can sit down,” he said quietly. ”The doctor will take a few minutes.”

Daisy hesitated. Then she slowly walked back and sat on the edge of the sofa, keeping a respectful distance.

Alessio noticed. But he didn’t say anything. He simply leaned back and closed his eyes.
