Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 126: Chapter 126 You’re making fun of me

Alessio stood quietly beside her.

He didn’t interrupt and didn’t rush her. Instead, he simply lowered his gaze and watched her little expressions change one after another.

First confusion. Then concentration. Then a tiny frown. Then another thoughtful blink.

She was trying so hard to remember that she looked completely absorbed in her own little world. Her lips moved silently, mouthing words to herself as she mentally scrolled through her list.

A faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips.

”...Take your time.”

He spoke softly.

”You don’t have to remember everything at once.”

Daisy looked up at him before smiling sheepishly. She scratched her cheek in embarrassment, her eyes apologetic.

Then she closed her eyes for a moment, thinking even harder.

Suddenly, her eyes sparkled.

She remembered.

A bright smile immediately bloomed across her face.

She quickly began gesturing excitedly.

Shampoo!

Body wash!

She paused.

Then her eyes widened again.

She lightly slapped her own forehead.

She remembered something else.

Alessio quietly watched her, the amusement in his eyes becoming more obvious.

”...You remembered another one?”

Daisy nodded enthusiastically.

She gestured again.

Detergent! And and...

Alessio couldn’t help letting out a quiet chuckle.

”So many things.”

Daisy smiled innocently before giving him an awkward little shrug. Her shoulders lifted and dropped in a gesture that said what can I do? I need those things?

”...Alright. We’ll get everything.”

His answer came so naturally that Daisy blinked.

For a brief second, it almost sounded as though the shopping list belonged to both of them.

She smiled warmly.

Then the two continued walking side by side.

Neither of them noticed that across the corridor, partially hidden behind a decorative pillar, a pair of eyes had been quietly watching them for quite some time.

The person’s gaze focused on the sight of Daisy smiling so comfortably beside Alessio.

Slowly, that expression darkened.

Alessio stood quietly beside the shopping cart, one hand resting in the pocket of his hoodie, as his green eyes drifted over the endless rows of colorful body washes lined across the shelves.

There had to be dozens of them.

Some bottles were pastel pink. Others were deep blue, lavender, emerald green or creamy white, each covered with elegant labels promising different fragrances and skin benefits.

To him, they all looked exactly the same.

He didn’t understand the difference between soothing chamomile and calming lavender. They both sounded like flowers. They both smelled like flowers. Why were there so many options for something as simple as washing your body?

Meanwhile, Daisy had become completely absorbed in the aisle.

She picked up one bottle, reading the label carefully from front to back before placing it down. Her lips moved silently as she read the ingredients, her brow furrowing in concentration.

Then she reached for another.

She unscrewed the cap slightly and took a tiny sniff. Her nose wrinkled. She quietly returned it to the shelf.

Next came another bottle. She smelled it. This time her eyes brightened for a second before she thoughtfully compared it with the previous one.

Alessio watched the entire process in silence.

His expression remained calm. But inwardly, he was genuinely impressed. She was taking this decision far more seriously than he had taken choosing a model kit.

Daisy continued comparing ingredients, fragrances, and sizes with complete concentration, occasionally tilting her head as though debating with herself. She looked so adorably serious that Alessio found himself watching her instead of the products.

After several minutes, he finally asked,

”...Do they really smell that different?”

Daisy looked up at him. Then nodded earnestly.

She held up two bottles. One in each hand. She gestured,

Very different.

Alessio looked at the two bottles. They were both white. Almost identical.

”...They look the same.”

Daisy blinked. Then she covered her mouth as her shoulders trembled with silent laughter.

She opened one bottle and carefully held it toward him.

He leaned down slightly and smelled it. A soft floral fragrance reached him, delicate and light.

She immediately opened the second one. This scent was warmer, sweeter, with hints of vanilla and something almost honey-like.

”Oh...”

He looked mildly surprised.

”...They are different.”

Daisy nodded proudly, looking unexpectedly pleased that he finally understood.

Seeing her smile, Alessio couldn’t help smiling too.

”...Okay.”

Alessio looked thoughtfully at the shelf before confidently picking up two bottles. One was bright pink. The other was fresh green.

He held them side by side and looked at Daisy.

”So... they’re the same, right?”

Daisy looked at the bottles. Then at him. Then back at the bottles.

Her eyes slowly became round.

She stared at him in complete disbelief.

The pink bottle clearly said Rose & Peony. The green one read Tea Tree & Mint.

She looked back at Alessio.

He looked completely serious. As though he genuinely expected the answer to be yes.

Daisy couldn’t help it anymore.

Her shoulders began shaking. She covered her mouth with both hands, her silent laughter making her eyes curve into beautiful crescents. She leaned against the shopping cart for support.

Alessio frowned.

”...What?”

Daisy pointed at the pink bottle. Then she dramatically pretended to smell flowers. She even made a tiny blooming flower with her fingers, her hands opening like petals.

After that, she pointed at the green bottle. She exaggeratedly sniffed it before pretending to feel icy cold, hugging herself and shivering dramatically.

Alessio watched her little performance without interrupting. His head tilted slightly.

”...One smells like flowers.” He pointed at the green bottle. ”...And this one?”

Daisy nodded enthusiastically. Then she mimed washing her hair before pointing to an imaginary tree. She even wiggled her fingers like leaves blowing in the wind.

”...Trees?” Alessio guessed.

Daisy immediately shook her head. She pointed toward the words on the bottle before tracing the air with her finger.

Tea tree.

”...Tea.” He nodded slowly. ”And mint.”

Daisy gave him a big thumbs-up.

Correct!

Alessio looked back at the bottles.

”...I would’ve bought the wrong one.”

Daisy nodded so vigorously that her ponytail bounced.

Very wrong.

He looked genuinely thoughtful. ”I thought pink and green were just...” He searched for the right word. ”...Different packaging.”

That sentence alone made Daisy laugh even harder. She bent forward slightly, one hand covering her mouth while the other held onto the shopping cart for support. Her shoulders shook with silent laughter, her eyes sparkling.

Even without a voice, her happiness was contagious.

Seeing her laugh so freely, Alessio couldn’t stop the faint smile that appeared on his own face.

”...You’re making fun of me.”

Daisy immediately straightened herself. She shook her head with exaggerated innocence.

No.

A tiny pause. Then she quickly added another gesture.

...Maybe a little.

Alessio let out a quiet breath that sounded suspiciously close to a laugh.

”...You’re bold today.”

Daisy blinked. Then smiled sweetly at him.

As if that innocent smile alone could make him forgive everything.

It almost worked.
