Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 115: Chapter 115 Annoying

Outside, Mr. Higgins remained standing beside his car. His pleasant smile slowly disappeared as he watched the taxi pull away.

His small eyes followed it until its taillights disappeared into the traffic, a cold glint flickering in his gaze. The smile that had been so carefully crafted throughout the evening had completely vanished.

His jaw tightened ever so slightly. The muscles in his neck tensed as he stared at the empty road where the taxi had disappeared. His fingers drummed against the car door in a slow, rhythmic tapping that betrayed his irritation.

”...Lucky.”

He muttered under his breath before getting back into his own car. The door closed with a soft thud, and he sat there for a moment, his hands gripping the steering wheel.

He started the engine and drove away, the white car disappearing into the night.

Meanwhile, Daisy quietly watched the city lights pass by outside the window. The cool air from the air conditioner brushed against her warm cheeks, making her feel pleasantly sleepy again.

She rested her head lightly against the window, her eyes slowly closing.

The gentle, low sound of the engine and the soft music playing on the radio created a soothing atmosphere that made her feel safe and relaxed. The tension that had gripped her shoulders after Mr. Higgins’s unwanted offer slowly melted away, replaced by a drowsy sense of contentment.

By the time the taxi stopped outside Evermont’s mansion, Daisy had almost fallen asleep.

She had rested her head against the cool window throughout the ride. Her breathing had grown slow and even, her body completely relaxed.

”Miss...” the driver called softly. ”We’ve arrived.”

Daisy slowly opened her eyes, looking adorably dazed for a few seconds before realizing where she was. She blinked several times, her mind struggling to catch up with her surroundings. The soft glow of the mansion’s entrance lights gradually came into focus and she remembered where she was.

She quickly straightened herself.

Oh...

Taking out her phone, she paid the fare before looking at the driver with a grateful smile. She pressed her palms together and gave the woman a small bow.

Thank you.

The driver smiled warmly. ”Take care.”

Daisy nodded before climbing out of the taxi.

The cool night breeze brushed against her face as she walked through the quiet mansion grounds. The air was cool and clean, carrying the faint scent of flowers from the garden. Everything was silent; the only sounds were her footsteps and the gentle rustle of leaves in the wind.

Most of the lights had already been switched off. The mansion loomed dark and quiet, its windows like closed eyes.

She quietly climbed the stairs and finally reached her bedroom. All she wanted now was to collapse onto her bed. She didn’t even have the energy to shower. Her body felt heavy. Her eyelids refused to stay open.

She slowly pushed the bedroom door open.

Click.

The room was dimly lit, a soft glow from the bedside lamp casting long shadows across the floor. The warm light created a cozy atmosphere, making the small room feel almost inviting.

She stepped inside...then stopped.

Her sleepy expression instantly disappeared.

Cedric was lying comfortably on her bed.

One arm rested beneath his head while the blanket covered him halfway, making it look as though he had been sleeping there for quite some time. His dark hair was slightly tousled and his bare chest rose and fell with slow, even breaths. The soft lamplight highlighted the contours of his face, making him look almost peaceful in his sleep.

Daisy blinked twice. Her tired brain struggled to process the scene.

...Why?

He had his own bedroom. His own enormous king-sized bed. A room that was three times the size of hers, with expensive sheets and a view of the garden. His room had everything...space, luxury, comfort. Everything this tiny room lacked.

So why was he sleeping on her tiny bed?

She slowly walked closer, her footsteps soft against the floor.

She shook his arm.

Cedric frowned. Her touch had interrupted his sleep. He slowly opened one eye before looking at her with visible annoyance. His brow furrowed and a small crease appeared between his eyes.

”...You woke me up.”

His brows knitted together.

”I was sleeping.”

Daisy stared at him in disbelief. She immediately raised both hands.

She pointed at the bed. Then at herself.

This is my bed.

Cedric followed her gestures lazily, his eyes half-closed. Then, completely unfazed, he replied,

”So?”

Daisy’s mouth slowly fell open.

She pointed at the bed again. Then toward the hallway. Finally, she spread both arms wide to indicate something much bigger.

You have your own room. Your own big bed. Why are you sleeping here?

Cedric looked at her for a moment before answering as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.

”My room feels empty.”

Daisy blinked.

He continued, ”And yours was closer.”

She stared at him, utterly speechless.

Closer? That was his reason?

She rubbed her forehead helplessly, her fingers pressing against her temples. A small sigh escaped her lips. She couldn’t tell if he was being serious or if he was simply too lazy to walk to his own room.

For some reason, although she still loved him, she had started finding him unbelievably annoying these past few days. He behaved as though everything revolved around him, as though her room, her belongings, and even her personal space naturally belonged to him. He never asked. He never considered her feelings. He simply took what he wanted.

Cedric glanced at her, still standing beside the bed.

”...Are you just going to stand there?”

He shifted slightly, making himself even more comfortable on the mattress. The blanket rustled as he adjusted his position, and he let out a small, contented sigh.

”I’m sleepy... so turn off the light.”

Daisy looked at him.

Then looked at the tiny bed.

Then back at him again. Her eye twitched ever so slightly.

But where am I supposed to sleep?

She gestured slowly, emphasizing every movement. Her hands moved with exaggerated clarity, hoping he would finally understand. She pointed at the bed, then at herself, then made a questioning gesture.

Cedric looked at her for a second. Then, with complete seriousness, he shifted a little toward one side of the bed.

”There.”

He patted the small remaining space beside him.

”You can sleep too.”

Daisy looked at the tiny gap he had generously left for her. It was barely enough for a child, let alone a grown woman. The space was so small that she would have to press herself against the edge of the bed just to avoid falling off.

Then she looked at the large king-sized bed he owned in the next room.

For the first time in a long while, she genuinely questioned whether Cedric had any common sense at all.
