Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 109: Chapter 109 Why did it bother him so much?

She quickly accepted it.

The screen connected.

Alessio’s familiar face appeared. His sharp green eyes looked at her for a brief moment, then his brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

Her eyes... They were red. As if she had been crying.

He didn’t say anything. He simply noted it, filed it away, and continued.

”Can you bring me the jacket?”

Daisy nodded.

She hurried to the wardrobe, took down the freshly washed jacket, and returned to the camera. She held it up, her expression questioning.

Alessio looked at it for a moment.

”...You washed it?”

Daisy nodded again. She looked slightly embarrassed, as if worried she had done something wrong. Her fingers tightened around the fabric.

For a brief second, the corners of Alessio’s lips almost moved.

”...Thank you.”

Then he casually added, ”Check the inside left pocket.”

Daisy obediently slipped her hand into the pocket. She felt around carefully, but there was nothing.

She looked up and shook her head.

”The right one.”

Again, nothing.

She frowned slightly, her brow furrowing in confusion.

Alessio rested his chin lightly against his hand, pretending to think. His expression was thoughtful, almost amused, though he hid it well..

”Hm... Looks like I remembered the wrong jacket.”

There was a trace of disappointment in his voice, subtle but unmistakable. His green eyes flickered with something almost like regret.

Daisy immediately shook her head. She didn’t want him to feel bad.

Holding the jacket with one hand, she began gesturing with the other.

It’s okay. Maybe you left it in another jacket. You should check again.

Her movements were gentle and unhurried, her hands flowing through the signs with natural ease. She was patient, reassuring, her expression soft.

Alessio watched her hands carefully. His eyes followed every gesture, every motion, memorizing them without even realizing it.

A small nod escaped him.

”...I will.”

Daisy smiled, relieved that he understood. Her shoulders relaxed slightly and the tension she had been holding since dinner began to ease.

Alessio’s gaze focused on her moving hands.

Without realizing it, he had begun learning sign language whenever he had free time. Between meetings, before bed, even while waiting for coffee, he would watch short videos and memorize simple signs. He would practice in the privacy of his office, his fingers moving awkwardly at first, then more smoothly.

Of course, he wasn’t learning it because of Daisy. He simply thought it was an interesting skill. A practical one. Something useful to know.

Yes. That’s all..He silently convinced himself.

Just then—

”Daisy!”

A familiar male voice echoed from outside her room, sharp and impatient.

”Daisy!”

Her smile instantly disappeared, Her eyes widened.

Cedric.

”I’ll call you later—”

She didn’t even have time to finish. Her fingers were already moving to end the call.

But the bedroom door opened.

Cedric walked inside without waiting for permission.

He wore only a pair of lounge pants, low on his hips, and was completely shirtless. His chest was bare, his muscles defined from years of expensive gym memberships.

In one hand, he carried an expensive glass bottle filled with aromatic massage oil.

”My head hurts,” he said casually, as if walking into her room uninvited was the most natural thing in the world.

He walked straight into the room as though it were his own.

”Massage my head.”

Daisy looked startled. Her eyes darted from him to her phone, then back to him. She nodded instinctively, her body moving on autopilot.

In her rush to stand, the phone slipped from her fingers.

Clack.

It hit the floor and landed sideways.

Neither of them noticed.

On the other side of the call...

Alessio’s laptop screen suddenly tilted.

The image became crooked, the angle skewed from the phone’s position on the floor. He could only see part of the room now. A section of the bed. The edge of the carpet. A sliver of the wall.

And Cedric.

He couldn’t see his face clearly. Only his bare torso. His legs. His arms. The way he moved as he walked farther into Daisy’s room.

Alessio’s fingers froze over his keyboard.

His expression slowly hardened, the warmth in his eyes replaced by coldness.

He heard Cedric’s voice.

”My head hurts.”

”Massage it.”

That was all. No more interaction between them.

Yet for some reason, something inside Alessio tightened.

His jaw clenched.

A strange heat spread through his chest. Uncomfortable restless and Irritating.

His eyes remained fixed on the screen, though he knew he should look away.

He knew he should end the call. This wasn’t something he had any right to watch. Daisy was married, and unfortunately, Cedric was her husband. Everything happening in that room was perfectly normal. Completely natural.

So why...

Why did it bother him so much?

His grip on the edge of his desk tightened until his knuckles turned white.

A thought flashed across his mind before he could stop it.

Why did he walk into her room like that?

Another followed.

Couldn’t he have knocked?

His chest felt strangely heavy, the weight of something he refused to name pressing down on him.

The feeling only grew stronger with each passing second.

Without another thought, he ended the call.

The screen went black.

Silence filled his office.

Alessio leaned back in his chair, exhaling sharply.

”...”

His heart was still beating faster than usual. He rubbed a hand across his face roughly.

”What is wrong with me...”

He had never experienced something like this before.

It wasn’t anger or jealousy.

At least, he refused to call it that.

It was simply... uncomfortable. Painfully uncomfortable.

But his own mind betrayed him.

Images he didn’t want began forming on their own. Cedric and Daisy sitting close together. Cedric touching her. Perhaps even kissing her.

”...Enough.”

Alessio muttered under his breath.

He abruptly stood from his chair and walked toward the window, his footsteps sharp against the floor.

”Stop thinking.”

He stared into the night, trying to force those thoughts away. But they only returned, stronger than before, more vivid and more persistent.

He let out a frustrated breath.

”...For God’s sake, Alessio.”

”She’s a married woman. They’re husband and wife.”

He closed his eyes but the images didn’t disappear. His brows slowly furrowed.

Cedric was still involved with Jessica. Everyone knew it. He was openly cheating on Daisy, flaunting his mistress in public without shame.

That thought left an unpleasant taste in Alessio’s mouth.

Daisy...

She deserved better than that. She was kind, gentle, sweet, patient to a fault. Yet she remained in that marriage, enduring everything without complaint.

Why?

He couldn’t understand it.

Did she truly love Cedric that much?

Was that why she endured everything without complaint? Was that why she stayed, even when he gave her nothing in return?
