Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 120: Chapter 120 Are you free today?

Margaret, noticing the exchange, smiled knowingly but said nothing.

Grandpa James continued patting Daisy’s head.

”Fine, fine,” he grumbled, though his voice was full of affection. ”I forgive you. But only because you’re too cute to stay angry at.”

Daisy’s smile widened.

She pressed her palms together in a silent thank you before resting her cheek against his knee, completely at ease.

Grandpa James looked down at her. His old eyes softened with a tenderness that only Daisy could bring out in him.

”You’re a menace, you know that?”

Daisy tilted her head innocently.

”A sweet little menace.”

She giggled silently, her shoulders shaking with laughter.

Margaret watched the scene with a warm smile.

”Ummm ..Well...” Grandpa James said, pointing toward Alessio with a knowing smile. ”You already know him, don’t you?”

Daisy looked at Alessio.

Their eyes met briefly, and for a moment, the room seemed to grow quieter. The morning light streamed through the window, casting a soft glow across his sharp features.

A gentle smile immediately bloomed across her face.

She nodded several times.

Yes... yes.

Seeing her cheerful reaction, Grandpa James nodded in satisfaction.

”Good.”

He leaned back comfortably before asking another question.

”Are you free today?”

Daisy thought for a moment. She had planned to go shopping, to buy clothes and groceries, to spend the day quietly on her own. But she wasn’t in a rush. There was no urgency.

Then she slowly shook her head.

She unlocked her phone and quickly typed a message before turning the screen toward him.

I need to go shopping today. I have to buy some clothes and groceries.

Grandpa James read the message.

His eyes suddenly lit up.

”That’s perfect!”

He slapped his knee excitedly.

”Perfect!”

Everyone looked at him in confusion. Margaret raised an eyebrow. Alessio’s expression remained neutral, though his eyes flickered with curiosity.

Grandpa James pointed dramatically at Alessio.

”Alessio was just saying he needed to buy a few things too. He said he has never gone shopping properly before. So you two can go together!”

The room suddenly became quiet.

Daisy blinked.

She looked at Alessio in surprise. He... had never gone shopping? For some reason, she found that unexpectedly cute. A tiny smile quietly appeared on her face as she imagined the over the six feet tall man wandering through a store, completely lost.

Across from her, Alessio remained outwardly calm.

Only he knew what was happening inside him. His heartbeat suddenly quickened. A quiet anticipation rose in his chest before he could stop it.

Say you’re free... Say you have time for me... Please...

For the first time in years, he actually found himself hoping for someone’s answer.

When Grandpa James suggested they go together, a strange warmth spread through him. He didn’t show it. His expression remained as calm and unreadable as ever. But inside, something felt unexpectedly light and giddy.

He had never experienced this feeling before. It was unfamiliar, unsettling, and yet, not unwelcome. His thoughts became strangely occupied by one simple possibility.

We’ll spend the afternoon together. Just the two of us.

The realization alone made the corners of his lips threaten to lift. He quickly suppressed them, forcing his face into its usual mask.

...Is this what people call having a crush?

The thought startled even him. His heartbeat became even louder, pounding against his ribs like a trapped bird.

Then, as quickly as the feeling appeared, it faded.

His expression slowly returned to normal. One cold thought quietly settled into his mind.

She’s married.

His chest tightened. The warmth disappeared almost instantly, replaced by coldness. His fingers unconsciously curled against his knee.

She’s someone else’s wife.

No matter how comfortable he felt around her, no matter how much he enjoyed watching her smile, there was a line he couldn’t cross.

And he knew it.

So he simply lowered his gaze, silently reminding himself of the one fact he should never forget.

She already belonged to someone else.

Daisy looked at Grandpa James before turning toward Alessio.

A gentle smile appeared on her face. Her eyes curved into soft crescents, warm and genuine.

She raised her hands and gestured simply.

Okay.

For a moment, Alessio forgot how to react.

His heartbeat stumbled, skipping a beat before settling into a rhythm that was slightly faster than usual. A strange warmth spread through his chest, unexpected and unfamiliar.

She agreed...

He kept his expression calm but something flickered in his green eyes. A quiet satisfaction. A hidden relief.

”...Let’s go,” he said calmly, though his voice sounded slightly quieter than before, almost as if he was afraid to speak too loudly and break the moment.

A satisfied grin spread across Grandpa James’s face.

”Good! Go have fun. Don’t rush back.”

Margaret chuckled softly as she watched the two of them leave together.

A few minutes later, the elevator doors slid shut.

Silence settled between them.

Daisy stood quietly beside him, holding her handbag with both hands. Her fingers were wrapped around the strap, and she stared at the closed doors, her reflection faintly visible in the glassy metal.

Alessio slipped one hand into the pocket of his hoodie and casually glanced at his phone.

He sent a short message.

Keep your distance. Stay hidden.

Within seconds, replies appeared.

Understood, Boss.

Outside, his men immediately blended into the surroundings. Some looked like office workers walking down the street. One sat on a nearby bench scrolling through his phone. Another pretended to be waiting for a ride. A few wandered into nearby shops.

To everyone else, they were nothing more than ordinary people going about their day.

The elevator chimed softly.

The doors opened.

Daisy stepped out first, and Alessio naturally fell into step beside her. His long legs moved at a measured pace, adjusting to her smaller strides.

As they walked together, his eyes unconsciously drifted toward her.

Today she wasn’t wearing heels. Just simple white sneakers. The difference in their height became even more obvious. She barely reached his chest, her head coming up to just below his shoulder.

Standing beside him made her look unbelievably petite and delicate.

Her ponytail swayed gently with each step, and the rose-red dress moved softly around her knees as she walked. The fabric caught the light and the color complemented her fair skin perfectly.

Her pace wasn’t hurried. She walked with small, light steps, completely relaxed.
