Mafia Lord's Mute Sweetheart

Chapter 138: Chapter 138 He’s cheating on you

Daisy stared at the pictures, then her eyes slowly widened.

”Oh...”

She had completely forgotten. Last night, Cedric had dragged her away so suddenly that she hadn’t even remembered her shopping. She had been too shaken, too upset to think about anything other than escaping his grip.

She pressed a hand against her forehead.

How could I forget?

She quickly picked up her phone and began typing.

Daisy: I’m so sorry... I completely forgot about them.

She paused before adding another sentence.

Daisy: Thank you for keeping them safe.

After sending the message, she looked at the photographs again.

A warm feeling quietly settled in her heart.

He hadn’t left the bags in his car. Instead, he had carefully placed them neatly where they would stay clean and safe. He could have just left them in the trunk or forgotten about them entirely but he hadn’t.

It was such a small gesture. Yet somehow, it made Daisy smile.

She gently touched the screen where the photograph of the shopping bags was displayed.

”...He’s really thoughtful.”

The words never left her lips, but they echoed softly in her heart.

She smiled softly as she looked at the photographs again before typing another message.

Daisy: Thank you...

A few seconds later, her phone vibrated.

Alessio: Stop thanking me every five minutes. I don’t have a habit of collecting thank yous and sorrys.

Daisy blinked, and a quiet laugh escaped her lips. She covered her mouth with one hand, her shoulders shaking slightly. The sound was soft, almost inaudible.

He really was... different.

After a moment, her smile faded as she remembered the restaurant. The scene was replayed in her mind. Cedric’s angry voice. The way he had grabbed her arm. The way he had shoved her aside like she was nothing.

Her fingers hesitated over the keyboard before she finally typed.

Daisy: Please don’t take Cedric’s words to heart. He’s just... impulsive.

The reply came surprisingly quickly.

Alessio: I don’t let a silly boy’s words stay in my mind.

A second message followed.

Alessio: Although... I’d call them accusations, not remarks.

Daisy stared at the screen.

Her heart felt heavy again.

Daisy: Sorry...

Almost instantly—

Alessio: Didn’t I just tell you to stop apologizing?

She smiled helplessly. He was right. She apologized too much. It had become a habit, a reflex, a way to make herself smaller so others wouldn’t get angry.

Another message appeared.

Alessio: None of that was your fault.

He paused for a few moments before sending another.

Alessio: But as your friend... I want to tell you something honestly.

Daisy’s eyes focused on the screen.

Alessio: He’s cheating on you.

Alessio: And I don’t think you should keep enduring that marriage, whatever the reason may be.

Daisy lowered her gaze.

Her fingers rested quietly on the phone.

She knew he was right. Of course he was right. She had known it for a long time but hearing someone say it out loud, seeing the words on the screen, it felt like she was slapped with reality.

After nearly a minute, she typed.

Daisy: I understand.

She looked out of the window beside her bed. The sky was pale blue, dotted with soft white clouds. It looked peaceful and free.

Maybe he was right. Cedric loved Jessica. He had admitted it himself. If she continued staying beside him, wouldn’t she only become an obstacle? Perhaps the kindest thing she could do was let him go.

A small, bittersweet smile appeared on her face.

If I divorce him... he’ll finally be able to be with the woman he loves.

The thought hurt. Yet it also brought a strange sense of relief and quiet calm that she hadn’t felt in years.

Another notification interrupted her thoughts.

Alessio: From what I saw yesterday... he seems far more interested in the woman beside him.

Daisy quietly replied.

Daisy: Her name is Jessica.

A few seconds later...

Daisy: She’s his first love.

There was a long pause.

Then—

Alessio: ...What the heck?

Another message appeared immediately after.

Alessio: Then you should definitely leave him.

Alessio: You deserve to live your own life too.

Alessio: Look at him. He’s happily living the life he wants while you’re the one carrying all the responsibilities of this marriage.

After sending it, Alessio looked at the conversation for a few seconds. He rubbed his forehead. Since when did I start talking like Rafael?

He almost deleted the message.

Too late. It had already been delivered.

Still, if it made Daisy value herself a little more, he didn’t regret sending it.

Back in her room, Daisy quietly read every word.

Nobody else except Annie had ever spoken up for her like that, and had ever told her that she deserved better and she had the right to be happy too.

She smiled gently.

Daisy: Thank you for worrying about me.

She paused before typing the next sentence.

Daisy: I think... it’s time for us to separate.

The message appeared on Alessio’s screen.

His heartbeat quickened. He read it twice to make sure he hadn’t misunderstood. His fingers tightened around the phone, and a slow smile spread across his face.

He quickly forced himself to calm down before replying.

Alessio: Hmm.

Alessio: Good luck.

After a brief pause, another message followed.

Alessio: If you need one... I know a good divorce lawyer.

Daisy blinked.

A tiny laugh escaped her. It was a soft, breathy sound, barely audible. He was already recommending lawyers.

She typed back honestly.

Daisy: Thank you.

Daisy: I might need one...

She hesitated before adding another sentence.

Daisy: But I don’t think I’ll be able to explain everything by myself.

Almost immediately, his reply arrived.

Alessio: Then I’ll come with you.

She stared at the screen.

Another message followed.

Alessio: We can meet the lawyer together.

Alessio: You don’t have to explain everything alone.

Daisy’s eyes gradually became moist. A small smile bloomed across her face. Her vision blurred and she blinked rapidly, trying to keep the tears from falling.

Daisy: Thank you.

This time, Alessio didn’t tell her to stop thanking him. Instead, he looked at that simple message for several seconds before quietly smiling to himself.
