The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

He Tiantian was just thinking about Ma Family, when someone from the Ma Family ran out, disregarding her noblewoman image.

”Third Master! Third Master, is it really you?”

”Wah wah, why, why did you only return now!”

”Do you know how hard it was for me and the children during the year you were missing, how much we suffered!”

”...You heartless one, how could you leave us!”

She rushed up to Gu Jingyuan, first examining his appearance up and down.

Gu Jingyuan was darker than before, thinner, more plain, and less noble in appearance.

Perhaps because of the journey, he was covered in dust, with a layer of bluish stubble on his lips and chin.

There was indeed a gap between him and the elegant, fair-skinned Third Young Master Gu in her memory.

But his eyebrows and eyes were very familiar.

Especially the pair of slanted sword-shaped eyebrows, which were more like a hallmark of the Gu Family men.

Anyone looking at him wouldn’t doubt Gu Jingyuan’s identity.

And following her arrival were the Marchioness, Young Madam, Second Young Madam, and other ladies, all proving Gu Jingyuan’s identity with tears.

”Brother Yuan, you finally returned!”

”Where have you been this year?”

”...Wait, why, why do you look at me with such a strange gaze? I am your own mother!”

”Third Brother, is there still some problem with your body?”

It was the Young Madam of the Marquis Mansion Lady Tang, the eldest son’s wife, who faced the situation more calmly. Certainly, she was calmer than the Marchioness, probably because she was one relation away from Gu Jingyuan.

She dabbed at her tears with a handkerchief, and inquired concernly, ”Are your injuries all healed?”

Upon hearing Lady Tang’s words, the Marchioness suddenly realized.

It was true, their Brother Yuan had gone missing because of a severe injury from a fall off a cliff.

Although a year’s time had passed, and although he seemed fine now, no one could guarantee his full recovery.

”My body is fine! When I fell off the cliff that day, I hit my head, and after waking up, I couldn’t remember anything!”

Gu Jingyuan looked at the Marchioness and other ladies, familiar yet strange.

Fragments of memory in his mind told him these women were his relatives.

Yet he had no whole memory, nor the empathetic sense of kinship.

He appeared somewhat distant.

Upon hearing this, the Marchioness scarcely able to stop her tears, cried out again: ”My son, my poor child, how could you—”

She was heartbroken by her son’s plight.

Lady Tang and the Second Young Madam Lady Wei looked at each other, silently communicating through their eyes—

”No wonder there’s been no news from Third Brother, turns out he’s forgotten everything!”

”Alas, it’s so pitiful for Third Sister-in-law, she and Third Brother were so close—”

Indeed, the cruellest thing for a woman, is nothing worse than her beloved forgetting her.

Love, unlike kinship, is postnatal.

If kinship is forgotten, the blood within the body remains unchanged.

And love? Forgotten is just gone!

Even if one wants to rebuild it, any rekindled feelings would differ from the past.

As the saying goes, a broken mirror seldom reflects true!”

The Third Young Madam of Ma Family, pitied by Lady Tang and Lady Wei, wasn’t as sorrowful as they imagined.

Having fully performed her part, Ma Family pretended to inadvertently discover He Tiantian in the carriage.

”Oh? Third Master, who is this young lady?”

Ma Family deliberately raised her voice, her question directly drowning out the Marchioness’s sobs.

The Marchioness and the ladies all heard Ma Family’s words.

Following Ma Family’s pointing finger, their gazes all turned towards He Tiantian.

He Tiantian:...Hehe, knew you’d cause trouble in public, but fortunately, I’m prepared!

He Tiantian feigned timidly, shyly, slowly stepping out of the carriage.

She curtseyed to the ladies of the Marquis Mansion.

Clearly, she wanted to show she understood etiquette, yet her learning was poor, appearing very abnormal, ridiculous.

Mockery flashed in Ma Family’s eyes: This woman, indeed hypocritical, always pretending!

”Lady He Ah Dian, greetings to the Marchioness! All Young Madams!”

He Tiantian pretended she didn’t see the disdain in Ma Family’s eyes, continuing to pretend and greet the ladies.

Upon seeing He Tiantian, Gu Jingyuan then remembered to introduce her to the family, ”Mo, mother, this is my lifesaver, if she hadn’t saved me that day, I might have been buried at the bottom of the cliff!”

”In addition, she is my—” wife!

Before Gu Jingyuan could say the words ”wife”, He Tiantian quickly interjected: ”In order to save the Third Young Master, he had to bluntly offend. Subsequently, the Third Young Master, mindful and worried I might be criticized, made a sworn sibling relationship with me!”

It was precisely said, ”People in love become siblings!”
