The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

”I think Educated Youth Heh will probably regret it!”

”Isn’t that the truth? No matter who it is, they’ll regret it!”

It wasn’t just the townsfolk; even the other educated youths were secretly worried.

They thought, even if ”Heh Yuntian” didn’t regret it, he should at least say some nice things to Han Dongmei.

After all, Han Dongmei used to like him so much. Even if love turned into hate, there were still remnants of affection.

A few soft words, take the chance to apologize, and have these educated youths help plead.

Even if they couldn’t wipe the ”debt” clean, at least they could reduce it or delay the repayment period!

But something unexpected happened to everyone —

She removed the white shirt, took off the brand new leather belt, and the shiny leather shoes on her feet were replaced with yellowish-green rubber shoes.

He Tiantian, once a city nobleman, had completely lost his former glory.

However, she still held her head high, her gaze clear.

Her appearance changed, but her temperament didn’t, giving a feeling of a poor nobleman.

”Alright! Count it as 500 bucks, I’ll pay it off in three months!”

After speaking, He Tiantian didn’t look at Han Dongmei and others’ reactions. She turned back to her room, found a pen, licked the tip, and swiftly wrote an IOU.

She specifically noted the debt amount and the repayment deadline, finally writing the date and signing the name ”Heh Yuntian.”

”Comrade Han Dongmei, here is the IOU, please keep it safe!”

He Tiantian directly handed the IOU to Han Dongmei.

Han Dongmei was somewhat stunned.

An IOU? A debt of 500, and ”Heh Yuntian” acknowledged it just like that.

No questioning, no bargaining, and no arguing because he was unwilling to acknowledge the debt?!

Seeing Han Dongmei not taking the IOU, He Tiantian thought for a moment and said, ”Oh, do you want me to put a fingerprint? I don’t have any ink pad here, should I borrow one from the deputy leader or accountant’s home for you to press?”

He Tiantian was genuinely mistaken, but Han Dongmei thought she was being sarcastic.

Snatching the IOU, without even looking at it, she stuffed it directly into her clothes pocket and coldly said, ”No need for a fingerprint, everyone saw it, you can’t deny it!”

”That’s good!”

He Tiantian smiled good-naturedly, not minding Han Dongmei’s harsh tone.

”Oh, right, the set of materials you gave me before, I lent it to Comrade Zhuoya. She went out today, but I’ll get it back from her when she returns and then return it to you!”

He Tiantian seemed to remember something and spoke first, not waiting for Han Dongmei to bring it up.

”...Hmph! You know your place!”

Actually, Han Dongmei had long forgotten about the materials.

She wasn’t the studious type; initially, she asked her family for the materials just because Heh Yuntian mentioned it once.

By now, it was July 1977.

Although there was no clear news, there were some rumors in the Capital City.

The original Heh Yuntian had no connections in the Capital City, but he was smart and very perceptive.

He regularly visited the post office at the commune to read newspapers, and although the newspapers might not have been up-to-date, they weren’t far off.

Through the newspapers, Heh Yuntian keenly noticed some signals—

After the leader resumed work, he successively met with several renowned figures in the education sector.

The specifics of what the leader and experts discussed were not detailed in the newspapers.

But Heh Yuntian felt that it had to be related to education, and more specifically, to the way the country selects talent.

Then, Heh Yuntian engaged in casual conversations with some educated youths whose families had connections or were from the Capital City.

In the conversations, he intentionally guided the talk, and did manage to glean some wind sounds.

Heh Yuntian was ecstatic!

Although he couldn’t be entirely sure, there was a real possibility that the country might reinstate the college entrance examination.

However, Heh Yuntian’s family were just ordinary workers, and his parents and relatives didn’t care about him at all.

So, even if he wrote asking his family to help him find textbooks or study materials, they wouldn’t respond.

Heh Yuntian then purposely mentioned in front of Han Dongmei that he wanted to study.

At that time, Han Dongmei was essentially an adoring little fan; whatever Heh Yuntian didn’t want, she would go to any lengths to shove it into his hands.

Since Heh Yuntian brought it up, she naturally paid more attention and helped out.

Han’s parents had some connections and vaguely heard of developments in the Capital City.

Just as they were thinking about how to advise Han Dongmei to study hard, Han Dongmei called herself.

Mr. Han and Mrs. Han were delighted, thinking their daughter had finally grown up, and did everything they could to obtain a set of high school study materials and tutoring guides.

Seeing the future, Han Dongmei, even though she knew that the college entrance examination would indeed be reinstated in a few months,

wasn’t really the type to study.

In the past, she had her parents, but now she also had this system cheat—

”Ding! Task completed, reward: one Clear Spirit Pill!”

”Ding! New task issued, write an article and publish it in any media...”
