The Female Lead Decides to Act Wickedly

In their countryside, there’s not much, but there’s plenty of unused land.

Around Liu Laocai’s house, there are quite a few empty spaces.

As long as the Educated Youths are willing to spend money and can gather the bricks and tiles, they can build whatever they want!

Anyway, when they leave in the future, they can’t take the house with them; it still belongs to the collective property of Liujiaao.

”Alright, you pay for building the house yourself, then you can have the room all to yourself!”

The vice captain generously agreed, allowing Han Dongmei to do as she pleased.

Han Dongmei took the money and tickets, found villagers in the village, got help to make earthen bricks, organized the roof, and even painted the inside with a layer of white lime. Within a few days, the small house was complete.

The house was very small, only about ten square meters.

But for Han Dongmei living alone, it was very affordable.

She found someone to build a heated bed and make a large wardrobe, spending dozens of yuan, and finally got the small room tidied up neatly.

Subsequently, several Educated Youths at the Educated Youth Corps left, leaving only thirteen people, so space was no longer tight, yet Han Dongmei still did not move to the women’s side.

Han Dongmei living alone was one thing, but she also didn’t eat with the Educated Youths.

Because she had her family’s support, she had plenty of money and tickets.

She secretly traded with villagers for fine grain and occasionally managed to get some wild game.

Han Dongmei’s meals were definitely far better than the sweet potatoes and mixed grain bread of the Educated Youth Corps.

No matter how generous she seemed to Heh Yuntian, giving him any good things she got.

Of course, it was only Heh Yuntian.

The other Educated Youths, even Ma Xinhua, her fellow high school classmate, Han Dongmei wouldn’t ”take care” too much.

In this resource-scarce era, even with ordinary classmates, not to mention relatives, everyone looked out for themselves.

Han Dongmei not sharing her good things with others was absolutely normal behavior for this era.

But, they were all Educated Youths after all.

Everyone lived in the same courtyard, and Han Dongmei couldn’t just eat well by herself while the other Educated Youths looked on longingly, swallowing their saliva, and then gnaw on flavorless coarse bread.

She could only secretly hide in her room or simply avoid eating during everyone’s mealtime.

That way, she wouldn’t be too conspicuous, and the others wouldn’t be too envious, leaving them with no resentment towards her.

Sleeping alone, without a roommate, she had a single room all to herself;

Eating alone, not eating with everyone, but hiding to prepare her own meals.

Without anyone deliberately ostracizing her, Han Dongmei gradually became distant from the Educated Youths at the Corps.

Especially since she didn’t fit in when working, her relationship with the others became even more estranged.

Han Dongmei was a pampered city girl, who didn’t even do her own laundry at home, how could she handle farm work?

Zhuoya couldn’t do it either, but she was a goddess, after all, there were plenty of men eager to please her.

Not to mention Heh Yuntian, even several male Educated Youths from the Corps, openly and secretly helped Zhuoya.

Even several unmarried young men from Liujiaao seemed to go crazy helping Zhuoya with work.

Zhuoya did almost nothing, yet she still earned enough work points.

Of course, Zhuoya was the female lead, perhaps not perfect, but she wasn’t deliberately leading people on.

She clearly rejected the men she was not interested in.

She didn’t need their help with work, nor did she accept the things they offered.

Yet, her persistence couldn’t resist her ”charm.”

Those young men who were rejected were unanimously drawn to Zhuoya; no matter how much she resisted, they silently contributed.

Zhuoya had an admirer, the accountant’s son, who begged his father persistently to arrange light work for Zhuoya—guarding the warehouse and distributing tools.

Only busy for a short while in the morning and evening, the rest of the time, she could slack off.

No need to work in the fields, she was sheltered from the wind and rain, living comfortably.

In the past, such good jobs were almost exclusively for the vice captain’s or important village cadre’s relatives.

Zhuoya, as an outsider Educated Youth, hadn’t even married the accountant’s son, yet he used this ”privilege” on her.

And Zhuoya also had money and tickets provided by Heh Yuntian, allowing her to foster good relations with the vice captain’s family.

With dual support from the vice captain and the accountant, Zhuoya’s position was very secure.

It must be said, she was indeed the true female lead, always able to invoke the heartfelt devotion of sincere male leads and passionate male supporting roles!

Han Dongmei was not the female lead, she didn’t have the Mary Sue aura.
